Legacy Of Fire: Chronicles Of The F-ranked Anomaly-Chapter 153: Don’t Hurt My Captain!
Outside the temple, Vertu had dealt the four standing there a mighty blow. If not for Michael, who had been healing them as he fought, they would have been dead a long time ago.
Michael and Theo were looking at the creature in front of them, their vision was blurry, and their legs were hardly holding up. The monster had done a number on them, and Pryion was the one pushing it back.
His flames had gotten hotter and his attacks fiercer each time Vertu struck him down.
"You are different from the last time I fought you, doesn’t that still mean you are going to be able to beat me?" Vertu jeered; his spear had gotten faster.
Pryion evaded almost all the attacks; he was not going to let the being push him down.
"You mught be strong, but nothing is going to be able to stop me!"
Pryion leaped back, his body was producing flames hotter than anything the earth could produce.
He was burning mana like dust, knowing that if his supply ran out, he would be entering Darius’s supply.
Lifting Isakador, his gaze on Vertu as he prepared to take care of the beast his way.
"With the flames of chaos, I shall burn anything that stands in my path. I will not let any evil cross my sight, take my blade and forge me into his light— allow the flame purge through my soul!"
Pryion’s eyes glowed, looking at Darius. "Isakador, Break!"
The ground shook as waves of flames erupted from the knight’s body, and the ground he stood on turned into molten lava as he took a rather feral form.
He had fused with Isakador!
Vertu took a step back once he saw the form and knew that if he took hits from it, then it would be the end of him; it was not something to joke with.
Pryion took one step forward, the heat from his body sent waves of Vertu burning all that had mana in front of it.
"Fascinating form, now show me what you can—"
Pryion blitzed to Vertu, not wasting time trying to land a powerful blow on the creature.
Vertu, almost like he had seen the future, dodged the attack slightly. He was burnt trying to avoid the full-fledged attack, the shockwave from the strike burnt part of the dungeon wall off.
Vertu looked at Pryion with a smile on his face. It was not something that anyone would do in a split second, only if he had thought of it.
’He isn’t the same being I fought three millennia ago,’ Vertu noticed Pryion’s unshaken gaze and his impeccable focus.
’He is not something I would be able to handle without much preparation. I can see why Deliri fell, but since it is only—’
"Arghhhhh!"
A roar followed by a golden blast of light, beside it was a powerful jade aura building up slowly. A blue flame could be seen close to them. Vertu smiled. He had not expected the humans to get up that fast and look at him like he was a target.
"Such brave souls, but are you going to do some damage this time?" He asked, spreading his hands, looking at the four warriors, knowing that he was in for another fierce brawl.
"C’mon now!" A powerful dark presence blasted from his body, shaking the warriors a bit. "Show me what you can do!"
Pryion bolted first, swinging a punch so fast that it sent Vertu flying.
Once the beast was off the ground, he fired powerful balls of flame at it, trying to kill it.
Vertu could be heard cackling as the flames burnt him, his skin was burning off, but he was pushing the flames off.
"Is that all you have?!" Vertu emerged from where Pryion had hit him. "Paladin of The Chaotic Flame!"
Pryion crossed his arms, focusing all his energy into his arms, his eyes on Vertu.
"Dancing Embers!" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
He sent two more powerful slashes for Vertu, he wanted to block the hit head-on on but the moment he thought of it.
A powerful golden surge was seen coming for him. Vertu saw what was happening, that it was two powerful attacks coming at once.
He took cover, but the moment he stepped out of the way, he was hit with a powerful thrust to his chest. Theo was waiting for him to make a move, and he had delivered a powerful blow to the being’s chest.
Vertu’s blood boiled in pure rage, looking at the warrior who had attacked him.
"Such insolence from a mortal!" He let out a cold roar, dashing for Theo. But on the corner of his eyes, he saw someone building up a huge mana attack. Her eyes were bright blue, her body emanating such a glorious flame.
Raya!
"Blue Flame: Emperor’s judgement!" She yelled, sending the powerful slash for Vertu, the speed of the attack was faster than sound itself.
Vertu was dealt a powerful blow, and he was sent flying back. Hurling into the wall, his thoughts circling on how he had taken hits from beings that were beneath him.
’Vertu...’
A voice whispered in his head, and he felt the shivers go down his spine when he heard the voice.
"Lord Urus, brother....I can explain, I—"
"You are proving to be nothing but an utter disappointment to the cause, just like Deliri, you are taking blows from mortals who shouldn’t be able to touch you, and you aren’t even fighting back with your full power!"
Vertu bowed his head, knowing that there was nothing he could say to Urus, and set himself free.
"I know, brother, but..."
"I am giving you a few minutes to deal with these small fries, the child of chaos is still within the temple. Don’t disappoint me."
Urus’ voice faded away. Vertu looked up to see that four of the warriors were waiting for him to make another move.
His anger had built up to a level where he was not able to hold it in.
"Disappointment?"
He clenched his fists, his eyes going dark red like the color of blood, engulfed in pure rage, looking at the mortals in front of him.
"That tears it!"
His arms grew longer, his body deforming into something more inhumane than before.
In a flash, he sent a tentacle for Raya, smacking her down into the ground. His eyes on Michael, not letting him get wind of what was going on, he had dashed for him, sending him flying back into the dungeon walls as he turned for Theo, but Pryion blocked him off.
"You are clouded with rage, your moves aren’t calculated!" Pryion taunted as he sent two powerful slashes at the being, injuring him again on the chest.
Vertu leaped back, hurling his spear at Theo. His speed was increased, trying to pin down the warrior.
Theo dodged the attack; his body had gotten used to the speed and attacks, and his body was evolving. He was getting stronger, and he wasn’t going to let the power go to waste.
Theo blitzed for the being, landing a powerful punch on Vertu.
His eyes glowing pure jade, striking Vertu rapidly with attacks, his speed was now close to that of light, his body was still radiating the mighty pure jade aura.
Pryion looked up, he could see something strange happening with Theo and he could tell what he was seeing was none oher than divine mana.
"Finally, you are breaking into your main core..." Pryion muttered as he stood up, looking at the clash happening in front of him.
His feral form didnt have enough time, he was burning mana, letting it waste like that.
"Let’s go!" He bolted for Vertu again; this time, he was going to make sure that he would land attacks. And he did land an earth-shaking attack on Vertu, pushing the being back.
Pryion and Theo’s combined attacks were pushing Vertu back, but the third son of the Abyss was no pushover, trying to counter them.
Vertu, seeing that he was not going to be able to take them down together, planned to make sure that he would break them.
He struck his spear on the floor, releasing a powerful wave of power.
"Wails of unfulfilled!"
A powerful cry followed the waves, sending Theo to his knees. The waves gave Vertu an opening to kick Pryion out of his way, knowing that he was dealing with two of them; it was a no-win situation.
"I can fight that knight all day, and know that he would be able to match my power or go past it a bit. But you..."
He was walking towards Theo, his spear in his hand, as he pulled it towards Theo.
"You are some kind of hidden variable, all of you mortals here. So letting you live is something I can’t do." Vertu lifted his spear to strike Theo on the head, ending his life.
Pryion got up, his feral form had worn out, and he was looking at Vertu, trying to kill Theo.
"No, No!"
Michael had pryed himself out of the wall, but he was still too weak to move.
"Theo, NO!" He yelled as he lifted his hand helplessly.
Theo looked up, his body weakened by the wail, and it was not helping him.
’This can’t be it, I can’t die here....’ Theo was trying to get on his feet, but the wails kept pushing him down. ’Not here, not like this!’
As Vertu brought the spear down, trying to take his head off. "Die!"
Clang!
The spear was stood, a warrior covered in crimson and jade aura had blocked it.
"Oi, Oi, Ugly!" Darius smiled, looking up at Vertu. "Don’t hurt my captain!"
