"No, but I defeated you!" Darius was holding on to his sword, he was looking at Slav as he approached him with a sinister smile on his face.

"You think a mortal like you could defeat me? I am the endless line of death, and your child will die even before you are going to be able to hurt me." Slav raised his hand, his eyes glowing with pure bloodlust. "This is your end, Mortal!"

He brought it down on Darius.

Darius sprang up from the hospital bed, drenched in sweat. His hands were in a fighting position, he was about to make sure that he was going to strike Slav.

"Ahhhh!" A lady screamed.

He was shocked to see a nurse standing in a defensive stance, he didn’t know what he was doing in a hospital.

Darius calmly sat back down on the bed, keeping his eyes on the nurse. He was not sure what to say, but he was going to keep calm so there wouldn’t be any mistakes.

"I am so sorry, I thought I was under attack." Darius had a weird smile on his face as he bowed his head, trying to apologise to the nurse.

The nurse shook her head as she slowly walked out of the room; nothing was going to happen to her.

Darius rubbed his head, he was having a splitting headache. For a moment, he thought he was going to be facing the monster that had almost ended his life. Filled with fear, he sat there trying to shake his head through it.

"For a moment, I thought I was back there, it would have been far from funny." Darius lay back on the bed, he looked at his hand to see something strange there.

It was a tattoo of what seemed to be a serpentine dragon, he was shocked cause he didn’t know what it meant or what it was doing on his arm. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"When in the world did I get this?!" He was looking at his arm; he was not sure what it was, but then he was still in a hospital.

"So you’re awake."

Darius looked up to see Liu standing by the door. He was surprised to see the man there, and he knew there was something on his mind.

"Hello," Darius said in a calm voice. He was looking at Liu as the man walked up to his side and sat down with a smile on his face.

"You have been knocked out for four days." Liu sat down beside Darius’s bed.

"Wait! Four days! Lena!" Darius was worried about his sister, he was not sure if there was someone who was taking care of her.

"Don’t be alarmed, Darius. You were mumbling your sister’s name in your comatose state, so I had to go check your address to make sure I would see her. Rest easy knowing that I have taken care of Lena Winters, she is quite the bright girl. She is right outside the hall, and I will bring her in when I am done talking with her darling brother."

Darius was looking at Liu, and for some reason, it felt warm talking to him.

"Okay, I will talk to you." He said in a low tone. he kept his eyes on Liu, and he was sure that there would be something that would come out of the whole talk.

Liu smiled. He brought out a file and placed it on the table. "First things first, I know you aren’t an F-ranked."

He was looking at Darius, and he got the exact reaction he wanted to see. Darius didn’t have any reason to deny it or even do anything that would look like he was going to be saying no to Liu.

"What gave it off?" Darius turned to look at Liu, he was not going to be scared of the man there.

"First of all, you have been appearing on the association radar a lot, and for some reason, you always get spotted close to uncharted dungeons. Keith and I were skeptical until you and Theo Sung walked out of the uncharted area that made the mighty Nathan Cruz and his ghouls run away." Liu, still looking at Darius, was shocked that someone like this was trying to hide his powers.

"Second thing, I was trying to read your rank that day we met you. And for some reason, I was blocked out."

Darius was shocked to hear that there was someone who could read ranks without the assessment test. He was trying to find out if Liu was going to do something to him or try to take him by force.

’Theo did say that they were going to take me in and make sure that I was going to be working under them directly, becoming their puppet. I can’t let this happen, don’t do anything to put me under them like that.’ Darius was trying to look for a way to make sure that he was not going to be caught up in everything like that.

"I know you think the association is going to take you or even try to put you under their thumb, but we aren’t going to do that." Liu was looking at him with a smile.

’Shit can he read minds as well?!’ Darius was looking at Liu; he was a bit shocked, and he knew that there was more to the man than he saw.

"We want to work with all the warriors we have in a good manner, for the past years now there has been an influx of uncharted dungeons all around the globe and for some reasons even the strongest warriors have begun to get lazy due to the way they have always been treated by the association."

Darius could see the look on Liu’s face, he knew that he was trying to make sure that the city was going to change.

"Warrior families and clans are doing anything they want, leaving dungeons for the weaker warriors." Liu was looking at the file in his hand, he sounded like he was disappointed.

"That is why we worked hard to make sure that we would get a new chairman here in Creston, so we would be sure that there was no way for the famous guild rules to hold down warriors like you." Liu stared at Darius.

"So, what do you want from me?" Darius asked, he was looking at Liu. he knew there was a reason for him being there.

"I want to know what you will be standing for, and if you are willing to go for another assessment test to see if you are going to be getting a new rank or if you want to remain the F-ranked anomaly you are." Liu was looking at Darius, he wanted to know what he would give as his answer.

Darius thought about it; he knew that there was no way for him to do anything freely if he was still an F-ranked, and he was going to need to be off the radar like that if he was going to have that amount of power.

He looked at Liu, he was not going to be hiding for long. He knew that after facing Slav, he would need to be on his toes.

"I want to take the assessment test again." Darius was looking at Liu.

Liu was happy to hear that Darius was going to take the test again, and he was not going to be hiding his rank like that. "That is great, I will make..."

"Can I call you when I am ready?" Darius was looking at him; he was not sure if he was going to be allowed to do that, but then it was worth a shot.

Liu was surprised at the request. He was looking at the warrior, and he could see the look in his eye, and he saw that something was making him decide that.

"If that is what you want, you can have my number. Call me when you are ready." Liu handed Darius a paper, he was looking at him wondering what it was the warrior was trying to do.

Darius stretched his hands to collect the number, his hand touched Liu.

Liu saw a glimpse of Darius facing Slav in the temple and the battle that happened there. He saw everything that had happened and how Darius had almost died. Liu held himself together; his hands were trembling as he began sweating.

He held his head a bit, trying his best to maintain his composure. he was looking at Darius, and he was sure that there was no doubt about it.

’This warrior, he is not someone ordinary, is he? He has an immense amount of power within him!’

Darius turned to Liu, he had a smile on his face. "I will make sure to call you. Mr. Liu"

Liu put himself together and smiled. He was looking at Darius, still wondering if he was going to be able to imagine the power the warrior had.

"I will be waiting."
