Legacy of the Dark Sage-Chapter 88 Qualified
Sigma's eyes narrowed as the container slid in his direction.
The other members of the council also looked at it in interest.
'Don't tell me..!' Callan exclaimed in his heart as he guessed what the container was.
He remembered Marley's report the day Kyran visited the Mercenary Hall and posed as a mercenary applicant. The truth, Callan did not mention this to the rest of the council because it was considered a piece of very sensitive information. Even within The Conclave, they could not openly discuss this kind of information. He did not even tell this to Chairman Hugh.
Callan looked in Kyran's direction. In his opinion, it was unwise to let so many people know about this information. But he also appreciated the fact that Kyran trusted them enough to show it to them.
On Kyran's left, Callan immediately saw Stella and Malek's indifferent expressions. He already guessed that the two likely knew what was inside the container. After all, they had Kyran's profile. If they did not stop Kyran from taking out the container, who was Callan to object?
Sigma took the container and examined its cover before looking at Kyran with a frown. "And what's this supposed to prove?"
Kyran sighed. Sigma was obviously aware that the container itself was not the proof Kyran wanted to show but what was inside. This big guy was only acting like a jerk, and it was testing Kyran's patience.
"Why don't you open it?" Kyran told Sigma.
"Humph," Sigma harumphed but did open the container.
Inside was an elegant black rectangular box with a symbol of a two-headed hawk's profile holding a sword and a shield. The hawk's eyes were made of spirit stones that glowed red.
Sigma frowned as he recognized the symbol of the Milfiore Military School. He knew Kyran went there to study. He also had an idea that Kyran probably wanted to convince him of his ability by showing off his badges. But who cared about some badges issued by a military school? Although the Milfiore Military School was directly under the Royal Family, and most of their talents had become known figures within the Combat Hall, what did it even mean to Sigma? The fact that a school had issued these badges did not mean anything to him.
He looked at Kyran, who only looked back at him without saying a word.
Then he noticed the Lord's expression as she looked at him. She wore a knowing smile.
Sigma's frown deepened. The Lord only had this kind of expression when she had a secret and could not wait to see their reaction.
"Open it, Sigma." Noir told him.
He, with the rest of the council, was also curious.
Unlike Sigma, Noir believed Kyran dared to show this container because he thought it would convince them.
"Yes, Chairman." Sigma replied and opened the box.
There was a moment's pause as he stared at what was inside the box.
Unfortunately, Noir and Avrum, who sat on each side of Sigma, could not see what was inside.
Finally, Sigma closed the box before he pushed it toward Noir's side. Then he took a deep breath and leaned back on his chair with his eyes closed.
Seeing the suddenly solemn expression on Sigma, Noir was baffled.
Stella, on the other hand, had seen how Sigma's complexion paled. She suppressed her laughter and turned her attention to Noir.
Kyran scratched his head. He also noticed Sigma turning pale.
It still puzzled him how outsiders reacted when seeing his badges. First was Nolan, then the girl named Marley from the Mercenary Hall. And now, it was Sigma.
Kyran did not like to flaunt his badges. He even felt a little embarrassed to show them to others because it reminded him that he had no progress in his last year at school. It also reminded him how his family looked at the badges indifferently, as if they were not proud or impressed.
Noir opened the box, and instantly he took a sharp intake of breath as his eyes grew wide.
His reaction immediately made Vaness, Emery and Avrum curious.
They did not have to wait for Noir to pass the box to them because he immediately waved his hand, and one badge flew out of the box and levitated in the middle of the table.
As soon as the rest saw the badges, they also gasped in surprise.
"The legendary Platinum Badge!" Emery exclaimed.
As a non-mage, she had heard about the Platinum Badge. She also aimed for it when she was young. Unfortunately, she only had an average talent. When others also heard she wanted to earn a Platinum Badge, people made fun of her because there was no record of Platinum Badge holders.
But Emery believed it was true. Why else would a rumor about it appear if there was no truth behind it? Maybe some romantics exaggerated the information, and she did not care. All she cared about was what the badge represented, especially to every human with no magic affinity.
She looked at Kyran with awe in her eyes. He was so young, and yet he was able to succeed at what she failed to achieve. 𝐟𝐫𝗲𝙚w𝚎𝐛𝙣𝐨𝙫𝘦𝗹.c૦m
"This proof should be enough, right?" Stella asked them.
They all looked at each other uneasily and nodded slowly. ƒr𝙚𝙚𝘸e𝚋𝐧૦ѵ𝒆𝒍.𝒄𝒐m
Noir waved his hand and let the badge returned to the box. He placed the box back in the container. With a wave of his hand, it flew back to Kyran.
"Thank you," Kyran said and returned the container to his pouch.
He had a random thought to research how he could learn the waving of hands and letting things move without touching them. It was pretty convenient, in his opinion.
"As I was saying, I said I'd hunt by myself because I know I can. Don't worry, I won't rampantly use my magic. I'm aware that if I do, I'll destroy the beast without leaving any parts behind. So I'll only use it to reduce their numbers since you only need three medium-sized beasts."
Kyran said it so bluntly that it sent cold shivers up their spines.
Sigma also cleared his throat. It occurred to him that when he and Kyran had a 'spar' earlier, Kyran probably hadn't warmed up. He also made full use of his magic. If they fought seriously without using magic, how would it end? Sigma looked at Kyran's body frame and frowned. How could such a small guy have such strength? It defied all common sense.
Of course, Sigma only thought Kyran was small compared to him. To others, Kyran's stature might even be imposing.
"Now to address your first concern, I'll explain the timeline I had in mind to get all your materials within a week's time. First, I will allot two days to get used to my magic. During this time, I need to trouble you to gather the necessary information about the rare stone at Shaiha Ruins. Yes, you heard me right."
Kyran added when he saw the confused look on their faces.
"But you mentioned needing the information about a good location where to hunt the forest beasts," Vaness said.
"I did. But forest beasts usually stays in one place for a few months until they had to leave because their food supply has run out. I'm sure you already have some information for the last few weeks."
Callan nodded his head in agreement, "Yes we do. We currently have information available from a recent bounty request we received."
"Okay, just give me the information and I'll figure the rest myself."
Kyran looked at Vaness and Emery.
"For the rare stones, you probably have information of its location but it's not updated. That's why we need more time on that."
"True. It is not easy to update the stone's information especially with the Templar Code keeping a very tight security around the ruins," Emery replied.
She understood why Kyran wanted to focus on finding the rare stone. With only a week to gather information, even a day's worth of investigation was crucial.
"After two day, I will help with the transportation of materials." Kyran continued.
He paused for a second as he pondered how to proceed.
He was still uncertain if he could warp to places at a greater distance just by looking at an image of that place. Although he managed to warp inside the conference hall, the circumstance was a little different. Since what he saw was a memory, he felt as if he was there at that time, making it easier for him to connect his magic to the conference hall. The distance was also not far and did not use up much of his strength. During the next two days, he planned to find out as much as possible about his warp ability for the. However, if he succeeded but ended up exhausting himself, it would be counterproductive. There was also the fact that he had to hide his magic. So he would have to go to the location using the usual way and would warp back to The Tower from there.
"Tell me where to meet up with your people and I'll take it from there. I'll need some assistance with the Blacksmith's Order on this one. Since I can't show them my magic, I will disguise it by using an array formation."
"But how will you explain it to them? The reason why we don't use a transportation array to export the materials, apart from it consuming a lot of spirit stones, few mages has the magic reserve to activate it." Emery pointed.
Kyran smiled and said, "With regards to that. I need you to create a new identity for me."
