Legendary Librarian System-Chapter 124: Benefits from the River Ritual
Their journey to the River of Dawn was peaceful.
The alchemists were curious about the Crimson Sun Guard, while the latter, on the other hand... were curious about the Radiant Cauldron Champion.
Although they heard how significant the Radiant Cauldron Champion had showcased his talent for the Kingdom of Jinwu, they were more curious over the fact that the Crown Prince strictly instructed them to guard him at all costs.
Funnily enough, he made a sarcastic remark that they must prevent him from showing his prowess, too.
Hence, they were curious about someone who was not only talented in alchemy, but also... in martial arts.
Nevertheless, Liu Wei ignored them completely, keeping his eyes closed to meditate, not even engaging in a conversation with Cai Hui.
They only had a brief conversation, with Cai Hui asking why Liu Wei did not attend the Emberglow Repose Banquet, as most of the people were dissatisfied with the Alchemy Association, as a result.
They believed that the Alchemy Association kept him to themselves because he was not associated with any organizations at all.
The Alchemy Association had already clarified it was the Radiant Cauldron Champion’s personal choice, they refused to believe and continued to criticize them for it.
However, Liu Wei did not care and simply gave Cai Hui a firm confirmation that he simply did not feel like it.
Liu Wei was careless if the Alchemy Association was facing negative opinions from other people simply because it was inevitable.
Furthermore, the Alchemy Association seemed to be unbothered, either.
Hence, with little to no significant events occurring throughout their journey to the River of Dawn, they finally arrived at the riverbank...
...
The riverbank of the River of Dawn was strangely empty. There were no stalls, no lights, no bustling of activity.
However, there were alchemists, wearing different robes, that appeared throughout the riverbanks and they kept their behavior mild.
They seemed to have treated the riverbanks as sacred for them to be mindful of their activity.
As soon as the royal carriage arrived, accompanied by the Crimson Sun Guards riding on their imperial horses, they immediately caught the attention of every alchemist.
There was a line that was bordered by a riprap. It was man-made, not simply because the riverbanks needed it, but simply to symbolize the area between sacredness and ordinary.
Riding in any transportation vehicle and even a horse was strictly prohibited in the sacred area.
Hence, the Crimson Sun Guard, who would completely refuse to leave their personal horse remained in the ordinary area, sweeping their gaze to every alchemist.
The alchemists knew by then that the individuals inside the royal carriage were untouchable.
However, when they realized who they were, they felt conflicted.
After all, they wanted to approach and befriend them.
In the end, they gave up and decided there would be a chance in the future.
They had to focus on the River of Dawn first.
As the Master Alchemist and the Top 10 of the Radiant Cauldron Assembly approached the river under the curious gazes of others, the Master Alchemist took out a lantern from his storage ring one by one and distributed it to them.
When Liu Wei received the lantern, he observed it.
It’s just an ordinary lantern, though. What’s so special about it?
In fact, Liu Wei was not familiar with lanterns since he lived in the modern world.
Although the current world employed lanterns as their bulb, Liu Wei lived in his library and it has always been strangely lit with light for who knows where it came from.
As Liu Wei was contemplating, the Master Alchemist explained how to utilize it.
"The lantern is like a body without a soul. You must put your soul into it. You have to infuse a sliver of your spiritual flame, a drop of your willpower, which is your Qi imprint, and a trace of spiritual herb fragrance.
Your lantern will float downstream, absorbing Solar Qi through the night until sunrise."
As soon as they arrived at the riverside, the Master Alchemist turned towards them and smiled.
"Send a wish with fire, let the dawn return it as strength."
The alchemists nodded.
Liu Wei listened carefully and glanced at the east.
There were already signs that dawn was about to appear.
Hence, he has to complete his lantern.
As he was infusing his lantern with a sliver of his spiritual flame, his Qi imprint—from the Verdant Cauldron Sutra, and a trace of his spiritual herb fragrance, the Master Alchemist continued,
"There are various benefits you will gain from this. First, is herb nourishment. The trace of your herb’s spiritual fragrance inside the lantern will bloom. You will then receive a subtle boost to alchemy affinities and herb nurturing skills.
Second, the Flame Resonance. Your spiritual flame inside the lantern will synchronize with the gentle solar qi from the River of Dawn, providing minor improvement to flame control and stability.
Third is the Qi Purification. The impurities in your Qi, hidden inside your meridian networks and meridian points will dissipate as the lantern drifts, acting as a soft cleansing, easing your fatigue or hidden injuries.
Fourth is the Willpower Blessing. Your wish-intent becomes strengthened at dawn, increasing your confidence, mental clarity, and success in future pill refinements.
As for the fifth one, it’s rare and not guaranteed to everyone."
The Master Alchemist paused for a while and smiled.
"Every future Master Alchemist has manifested this. It is called Solar Fate Mark. A golden ripple will mark your lantern, returning a faint Solar sigil into your wrist."
The Master Alchemist showed his right wrist, which was strangely covered by his robe, revealing the faint Solar sigil.
He said, "It provides slight enhancement of Yang-attribute pill techniques. And most importantly, highly auspicious."
The alchemists were surprised. They knew what highly auspicious meant. It simply meant having an extremely favorable, promising goodluck, success, or happy outcomes—very significant when it came to pill refinement.
They subconsciously glanced at Liu Wei and were envious.
After all, Liu Wei had the highest chance to receive the Solar Fate Mark.
Liu Wei, on the other hand, doesn’t feel that way.
He could only smile bitterly.
