Legendary Oops System-Chapter 53: The Instructor’s Crafty Play
"There are four known realms of cultivation, and each of these realms remains the same irrespective of your awakening type, that is, Physically Enhanced, or Psychic, like most of you in here."
The instructor’s words echoed through the hall where the students sat.
TAP!
TAP!
The sound of feet tapping rang quietly, coming from a white-haired young man sitting in the farthest corner of the hall.
It was White, his left leg tapping on the ground nervously.
As for the source of his nervousness, it was the panel blinking before him.
[DURATION: 70 HOURS 37 MINUTES 20 SECONDS]
This was the duration he had to challenge a Top 10 cyber ranking in his second year to a fight.
How should he even start that?
Walk to the 2nd year area and right to the door of one of the top 10 second years?
He didn’t even have any idea what the 2nd-year Cyber Ranking was, if they even had any Cyber Ranking whatsoever, nor did he know who exactly was in the top 10 or what they looked like.
It was turning out to be a difficult quest, though, for an unknown reason, White felt weirdly excited about completing it.
"May I call on Mr. White to demonstrate?"
The call rang out, and he froze.
He had been so engrossed in his thoughts that he had forgotten that he was in the middle of the class.
Still, he didn’t waste any time, rising naturally to his feet and stepping towards the instructor.
When he reached the man’s side, a new stage formed beneath their feet, rising high enough to be visible to all the students.
"Even amongst us Psychics, there’s a distinction of power."
Instructor Iritis mentioned, continuing,
"There are some Psychics closer to Physically Enhanced Awakeners than Psychics."
"These Psychics, we call Elemental Psychics, and they have a powerful ability. This ability is called Explosive Elemental Use."
He said, and the students watched him raise a finger.
What came next was the space before the instructor’s finger congealing, birthing a vortex of water that continuously spun in the air.
"This is a basic skill of most Water Elemental Psychics. The Elemental Spiral, and this is at my basic power level."
He said, and in that moment, he turned to White and outstretched his fingers, turning the water spiral towards him.
"Defend it."
In response, White also pointed his hands forward. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
’Activate Limitless Collapse!’
The water spiral pierced quietly through the space towards White, who had the space before his finger folded in to form a dark vortex that absorbed the water.
It blasted it back, sending a spray of water through the stage.
"As you all can see, the Elemental Spiral is at the basic level and, of course, could be easily deflected."
He said, but though White kept a neutral face, his mind was reeling in shock.
[Energy: 100/150!]
’50 energy!? Deflecting his attack took an entire 50 energy!?’
"Now observe closely."
Instructor Iritis continued, raising his hands to form another water spiral.
"This newly formed water spiral of mine is infused with the same amount of essence as the first. But!"
He added, and his second hand reached out to the center of the water essence.
Two of his fingers dipped into it and then drew back a line of water, in a way that resembled an archer drawing back the arrow attached to the bow.
"Mind you, I still am using the same energy input; there’s absolutely no extra energy being inputted."
"By nature, the attack ought to hold the same destructive power as the first since essentially, I’m using the same energy, right?"
He asked, and the students nodded.
But then he turned to White and repeated the same word.
"Defend it!"
White didn’t change his technique, reactivating Limitless Collapse.
The man released his fingers from the drawn water spiral, and like an arrow, it pierced forward.
This time, its speed was twice as fast, almost managing to bypass White’s Limitless Collapse, but still it was caught.
Except that when Limitless Collapse blasted the water backward,
BOOOOOM!
A loud explosion sounded, and the students watched as White was knocked off his feet, spinning twice in the air before he landed back on the ground and skidded to a stop.
It wasn’t just the students; even White’s eyes were widened in complete shock.
[Energy: 30/150!]
"70!? It took me 70 points of energy to block!?"
[If you hadn’t broken through to the late stage of the star realm...you would have been unconscious.]
The panel flashed, and a gleam crossed through White’s eyes.
The instructor shouldn’t know that he had ascended to the Late Star Realm, yet he had unleashed such an attack on him.
It appeared as a simple attack to the students, but none of them would have survived that, meaning the instructor was essentially planning to knock him out.
He turned towards the man, who still had a shocked expression on his face at the fact that White was still standing.
"That’s a good one, Instructor."
White said, with an "I know what you did." expression, and the man chuckled.
"Don’t worry,"
The voice echoed in White’s mind, obviously from instructor Iritis, but looking at him, his mouth wasn’t moving.
’He’s a Telepath, too?’
He thought, amazed.
"I was planning to reward you with some points after you wake up in the hospital, but since you’re still conscious, I guess I’ll just owe you one then."
"Feel free to come for your request once you need it."
He telepathically said to White before saying out loud,
"Good job, Mr. White. Please return to your seat."
White followed along.
"Also, you might want to keep those tapping legs of yours stable. It’s gnawing on my hearing."
He added as White took his seat.
Only now did he know why the instructor had picked him.
Seems like his tapping his leg nervously had arrested his attention.
But when White thought about what he had gained, his eyes flashed as an idea occurred to him.
"Wait, one request?"
