After having one of the most weird conversations to date in his life, Lucas followed Zen inside the many peaceful corridors of the church.

He saw many people pass by him but they did not even look at him.

Lucas had thought that if it was a church, then the clothes the people inside would be wearing would be religious in a world as medieval as this one.

But to his delight, everyone wore random clothes.

"We are here… Don’t blabber in there, if you offend even the cleaner in this room, you will be executed, understood? I can’t tell you who this person is and if I could, I would have not even taken you in there. Just be polite, alright? Remember the etiquette training."

Lucas nodded, he wasn’t going to but he also didn’t know any etiquette training too.

Also, he felt it was his time to gain experience talking with others not related to his territory so that he could become a better leader and salesperson.

Previously, if he had done it better, Daryl would have been on board in making him stuff even though he was busy.

Zen went to the door and knocked, just after his 3rd knock, a green light traveled from the center of the big gate to the side just like a droplet that fell in calm water making waves.

The gate opened automatically making Lucas speechless.

’This is better than the automatic doors we had on Earth…’

He was right, the gate seemed to know that Zen had the authority to enter and it even opened on its own.

He was sure if Lucas touched the gate, it would have turned red or something, and tried to kill him.

Just when the door opened, Lucas saw the inside design of a very big room.

His eyes bulged in reaction, he wasn’t expecting such a thing.

"Is this… all gold?" Lucas asked while looking at the walls, the chandelier in the center, and the flowers that in no way looked real. They were artificially made luxuriously and looked quite expensive.

Zen looked at him with a frown, Lucas was acting like a country bumpkin. Well, he was not one, even on Earth, he had the top 10% of privileges. But seeing a room fully made of gold seemed unreal and even useless.

They both entered slowly, Lucas saw a man sitting on the other side. He was in too lavish clothes.

Hair pure blonde in color that seemed to shine with the gold, the exquisite man was sitting and writing something with a fountain pen on a piece of paper.

Lucas envied even that, it had been a while since he used a paper to write on.

"Your greed is too thick." Suddenly the man said without looking at him. That pen never stopped writing and Lucas couldn’t look properly at what he was writing.

It was not English, he was sure about that.

"I suppose that is natural for you." The man said again.

"Your grace, Batch master Zen humbly greets you."

The man finally looked up and Lucas saw his eyes for the first time, they were pure green and emerald-like.

He nodded after looking at Zen. His gaze never went to Lucas.

"Forgive his etiquettes, your grave. He is from the orphanage."

"Hoh" The man finally looked at Lucas, his gaze peering inside Lucas’s eyes.

Yet Lucas did not find it as unsettling as it seemed, he actually reciprocated the gaze making the man have an unusual face.

"I see the reason why they reported, Boy." The man addressed Lucas.

"Do you have experience with war?"

The man asked Lucas making him taken aback, now that he thought about this question.

Lucas had never been to war but his life had become a constant war of survival every day.

"I have not… Your Grace." Lucas said while not trying to cringe while he said it.

The man just kept looking at Lucas and did not say anything. Zen looked at the interaction with sweat falling off his head.

"Y-Your grace, he was late for his coming of age ceremony as he fell into a coma. I have come to ask your permission for-"

"I get it, the ceremony room will be open for the 3 coming hours."

"T-Thank you, Your grace!"

Zen gave the guy a deep bow and looked at Lucas who also gave a slight bow, why stick out because of his pride?

The man still felt like Lucas was different than the other kids in his batch.

It was not weird for a 19-year-olds to have years of experience in war but Lucas just could not be one of those people. He was the orphan of the town, the only people who were given so many privileges even though their families were now dead or had no titles anymore.

They were taken care of by the ruling body until they came of age.

Just when they both got out, the gate closed on its own and a loud sound resounded just after it.

SMACK!

"Do you want us both to die??!"

Lucas didn’t even touch his forehead as it did not hurt but still, he thought it to be unfair.

"I did what you said, stay silent. What more do you need??" Find adventures on novelbuddy

"UGH! Brat! I thought you had changed but just like a dog’s tail, you just can’t be fixed!"

"Pft…"

"How dare you laugh?! Do you want to get hit again?"

"We only have 3 hours, are you sure we can waste it here?" Lucas asked with a cheeky smile.

Suddenly Zen jerked his neck and started moving briskly toward the left corridor, Lucas had seen his embarrassed face and couldn’t help but laugh even more.

’I shouldn’t do it… I shouldn’t do it… I shouldn’t do it… Fuck it, I am doing it.’ Lucas thought and while he started following Zen.

Lucas gave a glance at the gate of the room he had just entered and smiled before leaving. He did something that even he knew was not right for him, but he couldn’t help it.

Right inside the room, the man with the blonde hair was dumbly looking at the holographic screen of the corridor on the ceiling.

Suddenly, he started laughing and the laugh only became crazier and it seemed he could not stop himself.

"This is too interesting… Too interesting!" The man shouted and looked at a paper that was in front of him.

"Lucas Garde… I finally found an interesting toy to ply with again... Just wait. Hehehehahahahaha..!" The room resounded with laughs for a long time yet no one was there to witness this craziness.

It seemed this town was filled with crazy bastards and alas, as usual, Lucas was the unluckiest one to be in the center of the troubles again.
