Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 170: His Other Side
His position.
A lover, not a beloved.
When Stella Grant finished speaking, Silas Sutton didn’t respond, just tightened his grip around her waist.
After a few seconds, Silas Sutton chuckled softly and said, "What position? I have to consider after-sales service too, don’t I?"
Stella Grant smirked, "You’re quite the gentleman then."
Silas Sutton, "Mm, always have been."
The conversation flowed, and Stella Grant curled her red lips up, "Indeed, all your past partners say so."
Silas Sutton, "..."
While Silas Sutton was pressing his tongue against his back teeth, Stella Grant draped his suit jacket over her shoulders and walked away.
Silas Sutton stood with his hands in his pockets, with a faint smile.
When they returned home, Aunt Adler brought out two bowls of snow pear with rock sugar as a relief from the summer heat.
Stella Grant changed into slippers and walked over to receive it, thanking her, "Thank you, Aunt Adler."
Aunt Adler smiled as she leaned in and sniffed her, "Been drinking?"
Stella Grant’s cheeks flushed slightly, "Had a little."
Aunt Adler, "I’ll make you some hangover soup then."
With that, not waiting for Stella Grant to say anything, Aunt Adler quickly turned into the kitchen.
Stella Grant, surprised by Aunt Adler’s attentiveness, was staring at her disappearing figure when Silas Sutton strode over from behind. Instead of taking the bowl of snow pear with rock sugar from the coffee table, he took the one from her hand and drank more than half of it in one go.
Stella Grant frowned at him, and Silas Sutton said in a low voice, "Aunt Adler has no sons or daughters."
Stella Grant looked up, "Hmm?"
Silas Sutton bent down, as if worried Aunt Adler might overhear, "Aunt Adler was married once when she was young and had a daughter, but her in-laws favored boys over girls..."
Silas Sutton stopped mid-sentence, reaching up to tuck a stray hair behind Stella Grant’s ear.
Stella Grant turned her head, curiosity piqued, "And then?"
Silas Sutton met her gaze, so close that their lips almost touched, "She died. It was the ’90s, right at the peak of the one-child policy. Her mother-in-law intentionally took the little girl to play by the river, creating the illusion of an accidental drowning."
Stella Grant felt her breath catch.
The capacity of human nature to endlessly redefine our understanding of moral lows never ceased to astound.
After Silas Sutton finished speaking, seeing Stella Grant fall silent, he moved closer and kissed the corner of her lips, "Don’t worry, I don’t favor boys over girls."
Stella Grant blinked.
Silas Sutton, "If we get married, I’d love whatever you give birth to."
Stella Grant inhaled, her red lips moving, "You’ve thought this through thoroughly."
Silas Sutton teased, "I’ve been picturing something quite beautiful."
As they talked, Aunt Adler emerged from the kitchen.
Silas Sutton smiled, taking a step back to distance them, turning to Aunt Adler, "Aunt Adler, is there more hangover soup? I drank too much too."
Aunt Adler glared at him, "You don’t look like someone who’s had too much."
Silas Sutton, "It’s all a facade."
Aunt Adler ignored him, going straight to Stella Grant’s side to give her the hangover soup.
Truth be told, Stella Grant wasn’t drunk enough to need hangover soup, but after what Silas Sutton shared about Aunt Adler’s daughter, she couldn’t refuse.
Stella Grant took the hangover soup from Aunt Adler, "Thank you, Aunt Adler."
Aunt Adler looked at Stella Grant, liking her more and more, "No need to thank me. In the future, if you want to eat or drink anything, just let Aunt Adler know, and I’ll make it for you."
Stella Grant, "Okay."
Silas Sutton, "Tsk, if I’d known, I wouldn’t have brought her back. Now look at the poor treatment I’m getting."
Silas Sutton’s tone sounded like he was jealous, causing Aunt Adler to laugh as she reached out to swat him, "What nonsense are you spewing?"
Stella Grant drank her hangover soup, watching Silas Sutton dodge Aunt Adler’s playful swipes, and suddenly felt a tremor in her heart, reconsidering her impression of him.
Who said Silas Sutton was indifferent?
His kindness was just reserved for those close to him.
Meanwhile, in the restaurant’s private room, everyone was full and prepared to leave as Peter Wright went to settle the bill.
Someone asked Peter Wright, "Assistant Wright, where’s Manager Grant?"
Peter Wright first had a cryptic expression, then returned to seriousness, "Probably drank too much, I’m not sure."
The person said, "I heard from Lynch that they just saw President Sutton in the restaurant."
The person was merely making an offhand remark, but Peter Wright’s expression instantly changed as he scolded the person, "Don’t speak carelessly."
The person then realized, laughing awkwardly, "No, I’m sorry, I won’t say anything."
Saying they wouldn’t, but before Peter Wright even left the room, several people began whispering.
"Is Manager Grant really in that kind of relationship with President Sutton?"
"Who knows."
"I don’t think so, right? Manager Grant has a good reputation in this circle, and she’s managed so many major projects before, everyone’s seen it."
"What do you mean by ’everyone’s seen it’? Which eye did you see her winning those projects with merit?"
The group whispered, someone sneered, "What do you mean without merit? Bedroom skills are skills too, do you have her kind of skills?"
