Little Tyrant Doesn’t Want to Meet with a Bad End-Chapter 581.2: I’ll Enjoy Every Last Morsel of It (2)
Chapter 581.2: I’ll Enjoy Every Last Morsel of It (2)
“I heard a commotion earlier. Did something happen?”
“Yes, your father sent an emergency letter. He sternly instructed for the letter to be delivered straight into your hands…”
“Read it out for me.”
“…Understood.”
Grace hesitantly received Charlotte’s insignia ring and removed the seal on the envelope before retrieving the letter from within.
“Dear Charlotte, I received an emergency report from the church today. It was a handwritten letter from Holy Eminence John, containing an update on Roel Ascart’s whereabouts. They have determined his location to be the southeastern area of Tark Prairie. The church is currently organizing a rescue operation… Y-young miss!!!”
Pah! 𝙗𝙚𝙙𝙣𝒐𝙫𝙚𝙡.𝙤𝙧𝒈
Halfway through the letter, Grace raised her head in agitation. She saw the auburn-haired woman before her stiffening up as the cup she held in her hand fell to the ground and shattered.
“What did you say?”
“Young miss, Lord Roel is alive!”
“!”
It took Charlotte a moment to process those words before she clumsily charged at Grace to snatch the letter away from the latter’s hands, paying no heed to the glass shards on the floor. She stared intently at the letter’s content. Moments later, her body began to shudder.
“…It’s him. It definitely is him! He’s the only one who can invoke that spell! He is alive!!! Wu…”
“Young miss!”
Charlotte dropped to the ground and began weeping uncontrollably. Her hand instinctively covered her mouth as if she couldn’t believe it to be true.
Grace was overwhelmed by the situation too, but she quickly snapped out of it. She first dragged a chair over and lifted Charlotte onto it. She squatted down before the auburn-haired woman and gently wiped away her tears.
“This is wonderful, young miss. It’s a miracle that Lord Roel is still alive. There’s still a chance to start all over again…” Grace felt choked up thinking about the year of misery her young miss had been through.
Charlotte finally wiped off her tears and forced herself to calm down. She looked through the letter once more, and this time, her expression slowly turned grim.
“It’s mentioned in the letter that he’s deep inside Tark Prairie and needs to be rescued…”
“…That’s the deviants’ territory, right? How did Lord Roel end up there? This isn’t good. Our military prowess has suffered a heavy blow from the last battle,” Grace murmured worriedly.
An elite force was key to rescuing Roel, but they would also require a decent army to hold back the bulk of the deviants’ forces. Unfortunately, that was what Rosa was currently lacking.
It had suffered huge losses from the last few major battles, and now had only enough military power to hold its position. Going on the offensive was out of the question.
“Young miss, what should we do?” Grace asked worriedly.
In contrast, Charlotte remained composed. She carefully stowed away the letter before raising her head.
“Send our men to liaise with the southern kings!”
“The southern kings? Do you intend to…”
“…We’ll buy all of the soldiers that the southern countries have deployed to the eastern border!”
…
On Tark Prairie, Roel quietly stared at the angel rampaging in the sky.
A hundred deviant scouts were escaping on horseback, and hot on their tails was a death god with light wings.
Not too long ago, the two of them had been discovered by an aerial demonic beast patrolling in the sky. Without any hesitation, Nora charged into the sky and obliterated the demonic beasts in the vicinity with a single strike.
The two of them should have escaped right after that, but after a moment of thought, Nora decided to chase the deviants behind them instead. While these deviants hadn’t noticed anything yet since they were simply too far away, it was only a matter of time before they noticed the death of their demonic beasts and realized that something was amiss.
To buy them more time to escape, Nora decided to massacre all of them.
After ten minutes of searching around, Nora finally found the deviants. The enemy immediately fled in the direction of the main army, knowing that they were no match for Nora. It was a pity that they were simply too slow.
A surge of golden light rushed forth and blocked the deviants’ path.
Nora chose not to resort to her stronger spells lest other powerful transcendents in the vicinity picked up on her mana pulsation. Instead, she swooped down to the ground with her sword and personally decapitated them one after another. Cries of despair shook the air.
Though these deviants were as weak as little children before the Origin Level 2 transcendent, it still took half an hour for her to deal with them. It was already sunset by the time she returned to Roel’s side.
Traveling at night would have been inefficient, as they wouldn’t be able to use Nora’s light wings, which were simply too conspicuous when contrasted against the night sky. It also wasn’t wise for them to travel without rest, out of consideration for Roel’s poor state of health.
So, they decided to rest for the night, and the sentry posts their predecessors had left around Tark Prairie were the best option.
“Welcome back. Did you deal with all of them?”
“I did. Their carcasses should have disintegrated under the Angel Sovereign’s powers by now.”
“You’re already able to use your bloodline ability to that extent?”
“I advanced by leaps and bounds over the past year. Who knows? I might even be stronger than you now.”
“Hahaha.”
That really might just be the case, Roel thought sheepishly to himself.
Those from the Kingmaker Clan were usually unmatched within their own power class, but the chosen ones like Nora and the others were an exception. He still vividly remembered how he had to risk his life to wake up Nora, who had been possessed by the Angel Sovereign, despite the two of them being Origin Level 3 transcendents.
“You have worked hard. Our location would have been exposed if not for you.”
“It’s nothing at all. I’m doing it for myself too.”
“That’s true as well. It might just be a projection, but any damage you sustain will be reflected on your main body too.”
“That’s one thing, but I also don’t want to be disturbed while doing other stuff.”
“Hm?”
Roel was about to return to the house to check on the food he was cooking, but he froze up upon hearing those words. He turned around in astonishment, only to see Nora staring at him with narrowed eyes. There was a devious smile on her lips.
Wait a moment! That expression…
Roel had fought with her for so long that he instinctively understood the intent behind her smile. He subconsciously backed away, only to be cornered right away.
“Where are you going?”
Nora invoked her mana, manifesting the shackles and chain that linked them together. Without any warning, she tugged on the chain. The unguarded Roel was immediately sent flying into her arms.
“Your liege just returned triumphant from battle, but you’re trying to sneak off instead of celebrating her victory. Is that how a subordinate should conduct himself, Roel?”
Nora held the golden chain firmly in her hand, not granting any room for Roel to escape at all. Her smile only widened when she saw his twitching cheeks. Rendered in a helpless position, Roel could only surrender with a strained smile.
“Your Highness, it’s a misunderstanding. I was heading in to check on the pot. It’s only right for me to serve the finest food to repay what Your Highness has done for me.”
“Is that so? That sounds not too bad.” Nora chuckled softly as she nodded. Then, she stared intently at Roel with glowing eyes as she said, “I’ll accept your goodwill and enjoy everything, then.”
