Lord of The Karmic Armada-Chapter 26: Hansel
Chapter 26: Hansel
The third elder initially chose not to interfere and watched the ten dark elves being killed to see what trump cards the human had. Yet the human did not show any of his specialty.
Then there's the fact that he was killing the elves without causing any major damage to their bodies, which naturally did not go unnoticed by him.
For some reason, this fact gave him an awful feeling. Why would a person in a life and death battle pay great attention to not harm the bodies of his enemies and simply end them swiftly unless he had a great scheme behind it?
If not for that fact, the human could have ended the fight in a disturbingly short time.
The third elder could also do the same, since he was a peak third stage awakened himself, that was because of his long experience and his being not at a disadvantage in the darkness.
That was not the case for the human. A chilling thought came onto him. Elmyra and her team probably didn't stand a chance against him without the help of elemental darkness.
That was not all either, the eyes of the human were eerie, there was no movement in them and for a moment the elder even thought, was the human blind? Was he using his other senses to fight all this time? But that would be even more worrying.
Indeed, any creature that is not born of the darkness cannot see anything within it and no other sense of them can externally sense the surroundings either.
So that brings up the question of how?
Realizing he was thinking too much about it, and even if he knew those answers, nothing would change. The third elder realized he could not win against the human, and only their tribe leader could take care of him, for that very reason he sent away the two injured elves to notify the leader.
No matter what tricks the human had, in front of their leader it would be nothing but a joke. That's how terrifying his strength is and as for his combat prowess, it was even more so.
First, to confirm the fact that the human did need the bodies of the dead elves for whatever reason it may be, he tried to plunge his dagger into the skull of one of the dead bodies.
Moments before the dagger could hit the dead body, it was hurriedly stopped by Valtar.
Valtar stopped the dagger from touching the dead body and pushed the elder away from the body, making a heavy horizontal slash, yet the old man avoided gracefully and they both engaged in a fierce battle.
The old man's movement skill was far more deadly than those archers. Valtar realized, unlike those elves he faced till now, that this old man was a true close combat expert.
His movements were deadly and his use of the darkness was much more refined and dangerous, many of the attacks Valtar was unable to see through managed to hit him and cause that exact part of his skin to dry and almost wither.
If not for the slight darkness affinity and the system protecting him from the external darkness's corruption, things could truly become bad.
Yet he wasn't in the slightest bit worried.
Because in the end his stats were just that much superior and the old man also realized that his opponent truly had the upper hand in this fight, he was simply buying time.
How could Valtar not see through that?
"Human, what do you intend to do with the dead bodies of our people?" asked the Elder.
Valtar chuckled and did not respond as he made a big attack and a large wound appeared on the cheek of his enemy.
Drops of blood started to fall from the cut as the elder frowned.
"What trick did the Fae folks put you up to, human?" he added with a tinge of anger.
Valtar sneered,
"Ask them yourself."
"In the afterlife."
Suddenly, at the moment he could feel a sense of danger, a bad foreboding, it was his Karmic Intuition warning him that he had to finish this old guy soon and flee immediately.
Valtar, who was gradually overwhelming the old man with his superior stats, now chose to disregard his safety completely and he did something the old man fighting him did not expect.
Valtar threw his sword at the face of the old man, almost like throwing a spear at an insane speed. Caught off guard, the old man used his movement skill and appeared in another location, traveling through the darkness, yet to his horror the human was standing right in front of him when he came out of the darkness as if expecting it all along. He tried to stab the human in front of him with his dagger as a last-ditch effort.
Valtar, graciously using the opportunity, grabbed the hand of the old man who was holding the long dagger before it could reach him, with his other hand he grabbed the old man's throat and simply picked him up.
One had to know that the difference between just the 2nd and 3rd stage awakened was enormous and close to insurmountable, so how big the difference would be between a legitimate pathwalker and a 3rd stage awakened?
Valtar honestly never had any trouble dealing with these elves, but the problem was that these dark elves were just too slippery because of the all-encompassing darkness.
But once he got his hands on one of them, it remained nothing but a chicken for slaughter.
Thus after grabbing the neck of the old elf, he put enough force into his hands and
Snap.....
The neck of the old man snapped like a chopstick, without too much resistance.
Now he had to hurry. It seems the tribe leader was approaching this place very fast. He must not face the tribe leader right now or he will die.
He hurriedly cut out the third stage core from the right side of the old elf's chest. Similarly, he cut out the cores from all ten dead elves who were second-stage and put them all in his loose pockets.
Valtar, in a hurry, commanded the ghosts to possess the bodies of the dead and to remain absolutely still and do nothing.
He made a run like his life depended on it, right in the opposite direction of where the two injured elves went.
Barely 1 minute after Valtar ran away in the opposite direction, an extremely powerful creature of darkness appeared in the exact spot.
It was Elven tribe leader Hansel.
The moment he appeared, the darkness became even denser, yet for some reason, even amidst this horrifying darkness, the tribe leader seemed to be flowing in a strange dark light as if the darkness itself favored this being greatly.
He was wearing a crown filled with strange and glittering jewels. His face was emotionless, without a single expression even after seeing so many of his people killed by a single human. His expression remained unmoved regardless.
He had hawk-like eyes, a deadly predator without a doubt, he looked around the area very carefully. He took a closer look at the third elder who had been killed, and his attention then turned to the peculiar methods of the human who chose to kill his people.
Unfortunately, the tribe leader could not figure out the full picture. However, he did grasp the combat method of the human, seeing the state of the dead bodies and the surrounding environment.
It wasn't hard for him to come to the conjecture that the human was a pathwalker on a similar level just like himself, he found it very strange. If it was Zhao he could have accepted it with much more ease but it was a human boy who entered the hidden forest not too long ago. The fae folks should not have any reason to favor the boy so much.
