Lord of The Karmic Armada-Chapter 27: Raising the Morale
Chapter 27: Raising the Morale
Just as the elven tribe leader was inspecting the area and understanding the level and power of his enemy, ten more dark elves appeared in the area in a slight rush.
However, seeing their tribe leader calmly checking the area and so many of their tribe members dead, even the third elder lying lifeless, some of them had twisted expressions and became enraged, but in front of their leader, they dared not act too impudently. The anger in their hearts only grew bigger, seeing no sign of the human.
Eventually, one of them asked, "Leader, how could so many of them be killed, even the third elder?"
The one who asked was also an old man, similar to the third elder. He was called the second elder and was a very close friend of the third elder himself. As such, he was grief-stricken over the loss and furious at the human.
The tribe leader replied in his depthless dark voice, "Is it not obvious? If he was merely at the peak of the third stage, could he accomplish this and within this deep darkness nonetheless?"
This time, all of their expressions turned for the worst. Even the few who remained calm now had disturbed expressions on their faces as they realized the implication of their leader's statement.
Another elf stated in a grim tone, "So, he is on the same level as you, Leader."
Hansel nodded as he turned around. "Indeed, however, like any other creature that is not of the darkness, he is also highly suppressed by it, resulting in the human's diminished battle prowess."
The second elder spat in fury, "Disgusting Fae folk."
Hansel responded calmly, "Indeed, they seem to have invested quite a bit in the human boy." Then he added, "Elmyra and her team of ten died in the eastern area, and now ten more have died, including the third elder. Now, including me, only thirty of our tribe members remain."
The first elder interjected in a calm tone, "Among the thirty, we now have three peak third-stage awakened, three beginner third-stage awakened, and twenty-three second-stage."
"And you, Tribe Leader, a legitimate pathwalker," he added in a confident tone.
The tribe leader showed no expression as he said, "Take these bodies, and you all can go back. I will look for the boy alone."
While some of them wanted to interject, with one glance from the first elder, they understood that they might only get in the way if they split up now, and they could not suffer any more losses at the hands of one human. So, they resigned the duty of killing the human to their tribe leader.
However, the first elder still asked in confusion, "Leader, did the human do something to the dead bodies?"
"I do not know. I did not notice anything done to them, but it is possible he could have done something. We can never be too careful, the schemes of the Fae run too deep." stated Hansel in a cautious tone.
He added, "Regardless, take all the bodies with you and have someone keep an eye on the dead bodies just in case. I will take care of it after I kill the human and take the blood crystal."
Then he did not say anymore and vanished into the darkness, running toward the section where the human was, following the faint trail of disturbance in the darkness.
After the tribe leader went on his way, the first elder ordered everyone to take the bodies on their shoulders, and they all ran off toward the dark cavern where the remaining tribe was. Reaching the underground cavern area, the first elder commanded the dead bodies to be put in an empty room and the room to be locked while someone stood guard in front of it.
Everyone was gathered in the central hall of the underground cavern.

After that was done, everyone was slightly tense. Even though they were all strong warriors, they had emotions nonetheless. The first elder addressed everyone and explained the situation truthfully. All of them had hateful expressions hearing how a mere human had killed so many, even the fact that the child of the tribe leader, the beautiful princess Elmyra, did not return.
All the young male dark elves had extremely twisted and furious expressions on their faces. At a time like this, when their very lives were uncertain, every single young male dark elf wanted to win the heart of the number one beauty in the tribe.
They had always been smitten by the elf beauty since they were young, but she had never once had a romantic relationship with anyone, nor had she ever given any man a chance. So, all of them had a slight delusion in their minds that if they could melt the cold heart of the princess, no matter how short the time, they could touch that unreachable beauty and die with a smile.
But now, they could not even see the beautiful woman of their dreams for one last time, for a mere human had killed her. Their hatred toward the human and the Fae only increased after hearing how he had killed ten more after entering the tribe area and that even the strong third elder fell to the blade of the insidious human.
The first elder then proceeded to tell them the conjecture of the tribe leader, that the human was a pathwalker on a similar level as the tribe leader Hansel himself.
Everyone sucked in a breath of cold air upon hearing this dreadful news. Instantly, most of the hot-blooded young dark elves who were seething in rage suddenly became tame and even slightly fearful to an extent.
So, all of them understood that because the human was so strong, the tribe leader himself went to take care of him since no one else was strong enough to handle the human and would only serve to increase casualties.
All the elves became somewhat worried, knowing the human was actually on the same level as their leader. Seeing this, the first elder drew everyone's attention toward him as he reprimanded them in a strong tone, "You all dare to doubt the tribe leader's strength?"
He then sneered, "Did you all forget what we are? What do we represent?"
The moment they heard that, all the tribe members understood what the elder meant, as their morale was raised and even slight pride arose in their hearts.
The first elder said with pride and determination, "We are the creatures of darkness, the darkness that is feared by all. If not, why would we dare to even go against the Fae folk?"
"And our leader is the pinnacle representation of that darkness."
"So, how can a rat do anything after entering the deep dark cave when the master of the cave wishes to squash him?" stated the elder in a steady tone.
After hearing this, all of their worries vanished into thin air. Their resolution became firmer, and they all mentally prepared themselves to face the real enemies that they had been preparing for their entire lives and not worry about a meager human anymore.
One must know that every single elf knows whether they can win against the Fae folk or not they all have to die either way. All of them knew that only one being could escape the forest with its legacy. So, none of them were afraid of death. No, what they were truly afraid of was dying without a proper purpose and without being of use. Every single one of them was ready to give up their lives fighting the Fae folk just to help their tribe leader escape this forest.
This was also one of the biggest differences between them from humans. If these were humans instead of dark elves not a single would agree to give up their lives rather they would try to kill their tribe leader, if the leader ever dared to bring up such nonsense.
So, despite the dark elves being known as insidious creatures of darkness, they were also fiercely loyal to their own.
However, they did not know that the very human they were disregarding was hearing everything, all of this conversation from the very start.
