Chapter 113: Test

"Shut up!"

The white haired man said, tired of hearing August’s voice.

It was definitely one of the things he hated the most in his life.

"....."

Rather than getting angry or offended at his words, a big smile spread on his lips, underneath his mask.

It was one of his favorite sources of joy to see this arrogant white haired sage get angry over such simple questions from him.

There was hardly any better form of entertainment on the whole planet.

Unfortunately, he didn’t always get to enjoy it as much as he wanted with the same always locking himself up in this lab of his, refusing to peek out his head unless it was something extremely critical or it was something ordered by the head of camp himself, just the current situation with Kieran right now.

He was completely wrong if he thought he was the only one who had noticed something off and different about Kieran and he totally knew that.

He was quite aware that he wasn’t the only one who had eyes on the recruit who was currently in the tank, and he had fought off the other instructor’s like Marcus and took his gambling habits and skills to the limit just to get his hands on the oddball of a recruit.

The others quickly gave up and backed away and gave him the usual look they did, like was a madman or something, but he didn’t mind.

He had long grown used to the looks they gave him and his nickname as the badshit crazy instructor.

Of course, he was aware of what people called him behind his back and if anything, he liked it and felt like it suited him just right.

He embraced it and acted the part which was why no one questioned why he would be crazy enough to bet that much on a powerless recruit who clearly wasn’t worth that much.

And yet that "powerless recruit had found his way onto the ranking list taking a pretty impressive position for a first timer and a "powerless" one at that too?

Just the memory of their facial expressions after the tournament alone, the pain, jealousy and regret they all tried to hide was enough to make him feel high again.

Still, that feeling quickly faded away, so did the little pride he felt for the recruit.

If he could accomplish all that as a partial awakened, then that means he still had more to give, more that he could squeeze out.

August’s expectations kept rising higher the more Kieran surprised him and he was dedicated to milking out every latent potential he possessed in that body of his and when, even after then he managed to shock him.

Then, he could say that he was proud, but for now, the kid was still far away from truly achieving anything like that.

’He’s at it again!’

The white haired man thought seeing as the space in the room started to fluctuate subtly.

August was the embodiment of a madman—crazy and unpredictable.

He didn’t just get that nickname based on the way he acted. He knew for a fact that it was impossible to decipher his true thoughts and intentions. All they saw was he let them see.

But there were certain times when he could tell if he was feeling a particular emotion very intensely. He would remain still like a statue, like he had left the world around him behind and then the space around him would start to fluctuate subtly, reacting to whatever emotion he was feeling.

He had long since trained himself to sense those fluctuations which were almost impossible to detect by those who didn’t have an extremely sensitive sense or were on the lookout beforehand.

He was in his lab, a space he had designed and modified himself, he could sense the fluctuations easier here and it was starting to annoy him, the same way every other thing about August annoyed him.

"I’ll have to run the same tests from before since it seems like something changed after he woke up. After that, we can go on to the otter tests we didn’t take before"

He said in a harder tone, putting some energy into his voice, forcefully snapping August out of whatever world he had traveled to.

"Hmm.."

August hummed, wiping off the blood that flowed out from one of his ears.

The white haired bastard had done it on purpose.

Seeing the fluctuations disappear and that he had August’s attention back on him, a small smile flashed on the face of the white haired man as he proceeded to walk to a terminal where a bunch of data were shown on the screen, constantly changing and being recorded.

Pressing a few buttons, Kieran who was feeling extremely uncomfortable in the liquid, especially since he had to keep his eyes closed to avoid getting in a worse situation, clearly felt something foreign enter his system through the mask and how his body reacted instantly, trying to fight off the effects.

"What is this? He’s fighting it?"

The white haired man muttered in surprise and curiosity as a weird light started to shine within his eyes as he observed the fluctuating figures on the screen that only he could understand.

After a while, the effects of whatever it was he had passed into Kieran’s still hadn’t taken effect and it seemed like his body no longer reacted to that concentration, no matter how much and how long he passed it into him.

"Immunity? Well this is interesting!"

The light in his eyes increased as he pressed another series of buttons on the terminal, releasing the same substance, but of a higher concentration, willing to see how his body would react to it.

"Interesting, he’s adapting quite fast too. Let me try another one!"

He said a faint excitement echoing deep within his voice as his mind spun with possibilities of all he could do and try.

"Watch it white hair!"

August said sensing the rising excitement from the man the lab coat.
