Chapter 127: Technix

"You’re back, E6!"

A figure in the lab coat said, seeing the masked man E6 walk into the hall way of the facility.

"Yes, sir!"

E6 replied, his voice monotone and back as straight as a spear when addressing the man in front of him.

"Hmm. What’s that beside you? Harvests from the last hunt?"

The doctor asked with a curious expression, pushing up the glasses on his face.

"But this is a little too poor for a hunt. Did the Zeryls make any unexpected moves?"

"Negative. This subject eliminated all the other targets and even killed DF-265. He was a rather tough subject to bring in, but I manged to bring him in alive!"

E6’s monotone voice reported.

"Killed DF-265?"

The doctor raised an eyebrow, approaching the restricted body of Lucian which was laying unconscious on a stretcher.

"Does he have any special affiliations?"

He asked, checking some parts of Lucian’s body; his arms, neck and face, eventually finding nothing.

"Yes. I made sure to confirm and go through the mandatory procedure before engaging in combat."

Hearing this, the man’s eyes went over the bruises and cuts on Lucian’s body before inspecting E6’s posture.

"Must have been a tough fight if you had to use my drug too!"

He commented to E6 silence.

"Come to me if you notice any side effects. Even the smallest change or effect should be reported. Go lock him up and remain on standby. I’ll determine your reward after I inspect him fully myself!"

The doctor said, walking away into the deeper parts of the hallway.

"Sigh!"

E6 let out a deep sigh, his act shattering to bits, feeling the sweat drip down from beneath his mask.

He was terrified!

"The hell are you waiting for?"

Lucian’s cold voice woke him up as he resumed his journey into the deeper and lower levels of the underground facility.

A few minutes later, he arrived in what looked like a cell house.

Walking through the steel bars, he ignored the looks he got.

Most of those in the outer cells ignored him completely, the experience and torture they went through during their experimental sessions had broken them, draining them of the strength to stare at him hatefully as they did nothing but laid in their own bodily waste, looking like lifeless corpses.

The little rise and fall of their chest being the only indicator that they were alive.

Lucian also observed this silently from the stretcher he laid on.

As they went further, the slowly encountered more energetic captives and experimental subjects.

One could tell from the fact that they still had the strength to stare, spit or scream at him with hate filled eyes, while some begged desperately, with tear and snot filled faces as their lives depended on it.

E6 ignored all of this, taking Lucian to his designated cell at the extreme end of the space, completely isolated from the others.

The screams of the very lively subjects which had just come in, yet to be experimented on only increased seeing that Lucian had been placed so far away, in a cell, all by himself.

They curses and threats ignored by E6 who had gone through this process more times than he could remember.

BANG!

The sound of the cell gate closing was heard and E6’s actions sped up, his egarness to escape the presence of this monster was very visible.

"What are you doing?"

Lucian’s low voice stopped him from turning around immediately.

"W-wh-what i-is it?"

His voice trembled in fear of whatever to come out of Lucian’s mouth.

"Remember how it goes from here right? You secure those spots and vanish. This place is going down the moment I’m done!"

Lucians low voice reached his ears through the dark cell.

"I know!"

"Remember, I’ll blow off your head if anything goes wrong and you try to run! You can leave!"

Lucian gave a light warning, and E6 almost sprinted away the moment he heard those words, "You can leave!"

He wanted to get as far as possible from that bastard. He couldn’t remain here any longer to avoid suspicions from those in the monitoring room. They had eyes all over the facility.

Lucian got up and moved to the back of the rather small cell, resting his back on the wall while ignoring the funny smell and sensation when his bum made contact with the floor as he had discovered the source of the funny smell in the cell room.

"Sigh! The pain of being a detective. It’s for the mission, it’s for the mission!"

He repeated to himself, doubting his decision of being a detective as his life’s career. He definitely didn’t see this when he went through the academy, else he would’ve never signed up for a job with put him the very situations.he despised. More often as of later, ever since he stepped foot in Crane City.

’Did headquarters jinx me, or is my luck just that bad?’

He sighed, closing his eyes.

Now that he was in, all that was left was to wait.

’Wait for the right moment and for all the other pieces to slide into place!’

"Psst! Psst! Hey there!"

Unfortunately, not everyone had the same idea of sticking to themselves like he did as one of the hostages close to him called out, ignoring the cameras which were watching their every move.

"What you got you here?"

The guy who was probably running from the dead looks and poor attitude of those in his cell and around him asked.

"Hey! Come on, I know you can talk!"

He said, stepping into the poor faint light of that section, the tattoo on his bare chest catching Lucian’s interest.

It was the same tattoo those guys he killed earlier bore on themselves. The ones who claimed to be part of the bandit organization. Zeryl. A local bandit organization local to the numbered planets as he had never heard of its existence before.

His tattoo was huge, spanning across most of his chest. Lucian wasn’t just intrigued by that alone, he could feel a surprising awakened power coming from him. It was suppressed, but the power felt like it could almost match him.

Now that was something he didn’t expect to see in a place like this.

’How did they even capture someone like him?’

He thought, noting how strong the suppressions placed on him were. He had to once again reevaluate his thought of this place.

’Would have been better if they used a seal though!’

He thought. Some restrictions had also been placed on him when he came into the camp, but he could easily burn through those with the precautions he too beforehand.

Lucian made his way to the front of his cage and nodded towards the direction of the camera watching the cells there.

The guy got the message and smiled in delight seeing that Lucian had responded to his calling.

"Don’t worry. They can’t hear our conversation. You can speak within worry."

He assured Lucian, taking a seat at the edge of the bar.

"So, how did you end up in that situation, looking strapped up and all. Even I wasn’t tied up like that!"

He commented looking at the straps tied around Lucian’s body.

"I should be asking you that. You look strong, how did they capture you?"

Lucian asked taking a sit in a similar position.

"Hahaha. Well, it’s mostly fault. I was injured and careless, but I’ve got to give it to them. Not all of them are shrimps!"

He finished off that statement with a solem look on his face like he had seen something very concerning.

’Well, it’s to be expected’

Lucian reasoned. They had to have some exceptional firepower and skills to do things like that. Unless, the local forces would’ve found them and crushed them long ago.

"You’re part of the Zeryl group. I guess you guys aren’t backing them up then"

Lucian stated his identity and the man’s expression darkened a little at the mention of supporting them.

"We don’t support these bastards. That’s the work of those crazy fool, Tecnix"

"Tecnix?"

"Yeah! They’re our major rival. A group of strong fools if you ask me. Agreeing to work with these shady bastards without even looking back!"

His voice contained anger, as he expressed his hate for this group and their decision to back these guys.

"Hold up. How do you not know Technix?"

"...."

"You’re not from here are you? I thought you were part of one of the others when you identified me so easily, but you don’t know Technix. Where are you form?"

"Trade secret"

Lucian’s answer was straightforward, expressing his stance on the topic.

Silence descended on the space as both shifted into their own worlds.

Lucian was waiting to get a response from E6. He couldn’t be trusted, but Lucian had to make do what he had at his disposal.

"How would you like to get out of here?"

Lucian asked after a while, gaining the attention of the guy once more as a smile appeared on his face.
