Lost Origins: SS Ranked Awakening-Chapter 151: Sales Pitch
"And why should I help you?"
Sabrina asked after hearing a breakdown from Kieran. He was here seeing help from her buy he hadn’t said anything she could stand to gain from helping him.
"Asher said you’ve got that figured out. Honestly, I didn’t want to have anything to do with you, but do this for me and I’ll say I’m in your debt. I’ll owe you one."
Sabrina had an eyebrow raise at his words.
’Such confidence.’
She let out a small chuckle.
Kieran had just waltzed into her dorm and requested she helped him under in return for owing her a favor. He didn’t seem bothered that she might want to silence him since he knew of her plan to get rid of her Aurora family. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Even some of the factions she had been actively approaching haf no idea of this long term goal of her’s..
"Why didn’t you just go straight to them"
"I already feel bad enough having to ask you for help. I can’t just see myself asking for favor from your family, they might just demand that I offer the rest of my life."
Kierans responded lightly, tapping on the metal table.
Sabrina nodded slightly to that. His words weren’t wrong, the pillar familes were beyond greedy. Dealing with them was like dealing with the devil. There was almost no way back.
"Alright then, accompany me a bit and I’ll see if you really are worth it."
Sabrina gave her final verdict.
Kieran nodded, uncaring of her rude words. It was a business exchange after all. He was selling himself in return for help.
Having been unable to make contact with Jake and the fact that Jake hadn’t been able to get across to him either only meant that he was also in a pickle.
The past few days on this level of the mountain had been increasingly tough to handle and he couldn’t do anything but put up a nice show to convince his buyer.
’Sigh!’
The feeling of offering himself to a noble, even if it was Sabrina who he thought was better compared to the rest was still sickening, no matter how he thought about it.
’Let’s see if Asher’s eyes are really that good. He better be worth the time!’
Sabrina glanced at Keiran who had accepted without resistance.
Asjer had informed her of a recruit he had come across recently, talking about how interesting he had found him. A little after, the rumors of Kieran defeating Dain, a high ranker reached her ears.
She had Laim confirm those words and they turned out to be true. What surprised her was, according to the words of those who witnessed the fight, Kieran seemed to have been holding back in the fight against Dain.
That made her wonder just how much the recruit who was only half awakened a while ago, the biggest oddball in their batch with his background as a commoner had changed in such a short period.
The fact that nothing about him seemed any different on the surface only made her want to dig deeper. After all, he was the only one who gad genuinely caught her interest back in the first stage, but she had other matters to attend to.
This was the best opportunity for her to satiate her curiosity.
"Where are we going by the way?"
Kieran asked as they moved through different levels of the mountains.
With Sabrina as his side, no recruit or camp system prevented him from moving.
’Power must he really wonderful, sigh!’
"To a meeting!"
Her reply was short and straightforward and her aura had returned to being tough like the other times he had spotted her.
’I really didn’t want to get involved in this!’
Kieran didn’t know how to feel, knowing that such a small matter was pushing him into something he wanted with all of his being to avoid.
’Maybe they were right. I should have made some sort of connections for times like this!’
He thought bitterly, regretting to having ignored Danzo and Leora’s advice despite all they had done to help him.
’Yeah, I fucked up!’
He didn’t have time to mull over past mistakes as Sabrina came to a sudden stop in front of him.
This time, with no one to stop him, he actually crashed into her back, his face falling into her blue hair.
’Hmm, nice!’
Kieran breathed in the jasmine scent that wafted from her soft neck and hair.
BANG!
"Ugh!"
"We are here!"
Sabrina said with a flat voice, but Kieran couldn’t see the blush she was struggling to suppress. As the princess of such a prestigious family, no one had come that close to her. That was the first time she had been in such a situation.
Luckily she wasn’t one to escalate the matter. The jab had brought Kieran to his senses, leaving him a little regretful that he couldn’t enjoy the scent that gave a familiar feeling of peace.
’Are ladies supposed to be that soft?’
’What the hell is wrong with me?’
Kieran shook his head furiously. He couldn’t understand he had started thinking thoughts like that. He was in a serious situation that required all of his focus.
"Alright!"
"Hmm, let’s go in then."
Sabrina pushed the room open once she saw that Kieran had regained his composure.
The room was small with nothing other than a metal table and two chair sitting opposite each other.
The other party were already present, their head already on his seat with a single person standing behind him.
"You really kept us waiting Ice princess!"
The masked man said, his eyes following Sabrina who had just taken her seat.
Kieran naturally moved to her back, taking a similar position as the figure behind the man.
"Shall we proceed then?"
Sabrina pushed forward, ignoring the man’s earlier comment. Her temperament had changed to something more dominant since she took the seat.
’The more I see, the more I don’t want to know.’
Kieran commented internally, taking note of another door on the opposite side of the room. It was to be assumed that was where the other parties had come from.
Judging from the mask on their faces, the slightly tense atmosphere in the room and the way the figure at the back kept his hand hanging from his hips, Kieran deduced that this was supposed to be a secret meeting.
One where the other party seemed to have anticipated an ambush.
"Your response? I’ve given more than enough time to think about it after all."
"Sigh! You’re a little to impatient, princess. Although you have Asher on your side, I’m not sure you can achieve what you proposed."
"They have Veylan as their leader. Trust me, I’ve been in this camp longer than you have, I don’t think you can—"
"Stop being a coward!"
Sabrina interrupted the hesitant recruit. His brows smashed together in dissatisfaction, but he kept quiet, waiting for Sabrina to end her words.
"I already have a way to take care of Veylan. I honestly don’t even need to do much"
Sabrina said, turning to look at Kieran with a small smile, confusing the guy who had no idea why all eyes were suddenly trained on him.
’What the hell is she supposed to mean, looking at me like that after those words?’
He managed to keep his stoic face, playing along perfectly.
’Not bad’
Sabrina turned once again to face the senior recruit.
"Fine, even if I took your words for that... What about Alkina? I mean she is definitely a—"
’!!’
A subtle pressure pressed filled the whole room as Kieran glared at the figure at the back whose hands had been moving suspiciously for a while now.
Inches away from his hand was a laser pistol he was seconds away from pulling out.
"Take your hand back!"
’Predator’s Gaze!’
Kieran’s eyes took on a gold shade and the pressure intensified.
"Kieran Callum. I haven’t stopped hearing your name ever since you defeated that boot licker, Dain. You don’t seem like much!"
A gruff voice came from within the mask of the man as an equal pressure emerged pushing against that of Kieran’s.
’Hmm..’
Kieran didn’t need anything else to know that his opponent was very strong. Stronger than Dain, than Orion. He could feel it.
"Sigh! It’s alright to say you don’t want in on this, you know. What would you want me to think seeing your subordinate all shaky. If you want to kill me, you could just put in a deathmatch request. I could make it possible!"
Sabrina placed her elbows upon the table and leaned against her palms, looking at the figure who was about to pull the gun.
’Subordinate?’
Kieran narrowed his eyes, already figuring things out.
"I could never, Sabrina! I was just curious since I saw who you happened to bring over!"
The gruff voice of the man at the back said with a small shake of his head.
"You’ll have to ask if you want to take a go at him."
Sabrina warned in a somewhat possessive tone. Or was I wrong?
"I believe I’ve alleviated all your worries?"
"Yes, but I am a little curious as to how he is the solution to our Veylan problem."
Kieran retracted his aura seeing the turn things had taken and turned to look at Sabrina. He was also curious as to what he had to do with this Veylain he had never heard of before.
"You don’t need to worry about that!"
Sabrina said, steering the conversation in another direction, to Kieran’s disappointment.
