Chapter 46: Chapter 47: Ignoring others’ genuine feelings like this will eventually lead to retribution.
The rain was pattering down.
In the shadowy hospital corridor, two equally outstanding men stood quietly.
Brandan Hyde bit on a cigarette, the thin blue smoke swirling around his incredibly handsome face.
He looked at William Moore and asked, "As the young master of the Moore family and Pavilion Master of the Dark Chamber, what is your purpose in staying by Iris Harris’s side?"
Indeed, after that day when Iris Harris was carried away by William, he had someone investigate his background.
The findings were astonishing.
William Moore, a top world-class pharmacist, various poisons and antidotes circulating in the black market, all came from this man.
His drug trade even controlled the economic lifeline of a small country; a man who could change the fate with a flip of his hand. What’s his purpose in staying beside Iris Harris?
William looked at Brandan, and suddenly wondered if this man had noticed the issue with his demeanor.
This tone filled with jealousy, it was like interrogating an adulterer.
"I like her."
William said straightforwardly.
Brandan took a gentle breath, his eyes constricted fiercely, seemingly stunned.
William looked at him and suddenly laughed: "What’s wrong, is it strange?"
His smile suddenly made Brandan’s heart restless.
"What’s so good about her that would make someone like you like her?"
Brandan’s tone involuntarily carried a tone of belittling Iris Harris.
Upon hearing this, William’s eyes gradually grew sharp; looking at Brandan, his tone seemed somewhat sarcastic: "You’re the only one who doesn’t know how great she is."
Brandan pressed his lips together, just glaring at William with hostility.
William still smiled calmly and suddenly asked, "Do you like Viola Harris?"
"Of course."
Brandan replied promptly.
"Then what do you like about her?"
This question made Brandan pause.
What did he like about Viola Harris?
Viola Harris was tender and considerate enough, a bit clingy, but not to the extent that he couldn’t bear it.
Moreover... she loved him so much.
These reasons should be enough for him to like her, right?
However, at this moment, Brandan couldn’t answer, lightly furrowing his brow, feeling somewhat restless inside.
William looked at him and asked again, "Do you truly understand what love is?"
A man who doesn’t understand love.
Too clever, too proud, eyes higher than the top, childish and arrogant.
A man spoiled by Iris Harris.
William looked at him with some pity, thinking in his heart, if one day Iris Harris completely gave up on him, what would happen to him?
This man, truly spoiled with arrogance, from his top-notch family and outstanding appearance, too clever, made him develop the habit of looking down from above. He was accustomed to seeing people bow and scrape to him, leading him to disdain even Iris Harris.
This disregard for others’ sincerity, the retribution would come sooner or later.
William felt somewhat sarcastic inside.
He was very curious about what his retribution would be.
Brandan’s heart was thrown into disarray by William’s casual remarks.
He had never truly thought about his feelings towards Viola Harris.
Viola Harris saved him, so he naturally stayed with her, because everyone said she liked him.
Did he like Viola Harris?
Before, in front of others, he could easily say yes.
Yet, in front of William, he couldn’t say it.
He became irritated and said coldly, "What’s the point of saying all this nonsense? Doesn’t Iris Harris still like me?"
