Chapter 52: King Ronan Is Back

After the blessing ceremony was over, everyone started to leave the hall one by one. Now, there was only Arielle who was still faithfully sitting in her seat.

"You are still here, Your Highness?" A priest came to her and greeted the princess.

"Yes, I feel very comfortable here," said Arielle with a smile.

"Ah, then may I perhaps introduce myself? I am Priest Jill in charge of the blessing ceremony at the Cathedral."

"Oh, one of the High Priests like Priest Elis?"

"That’s right, Your Highness."

Arielle immediately got up and bowed respectfully towards Priest Jill. "Hello, Priest Jill. I’m Arielle Dellune from Nieverdell."

Priest Jill chuckled softly. "You don’t have to be like this. I have known you. It was I who gave you my blessing when you visited with His Majesty the King at that time."

"Oh my gosh. I’m sorry I forgot about that. Thank you for bearing with me so well. And I’ll likely visit here often."

"With pleasure, Your Highness. It’s an honor for us."

"Priest Jill, are you done with your activities?" asked Arielle.

Priest Jill looked around the hall and nodded. "For this morning, my task is done."

"Then may I ask you a few questions?"

"With pleasure, Your Highness."

Arielle and Priest Jill then left the Blessing Hall through a special door. Arielle saw the door for the first time, and now both of them were in a simple garden with a big gate.

Priest Jill explained that it was a gate for people who were not from the palace to enter the blessing hall. And the door that Arielle always went through was Cathedral’s connecting door to the palace.

"Priest, what trigram did you make earlier?" asked Arielle curiously.

Priest Jill moved his fingers, and a trigram appeared around his wrist. No light appeared, like Priest Elis had made but Arielle could feel warmth radiate from there.

"Hot Trigrams."

"And how did you share it with those people just now?"

Priest Jill took out a small crystal stone, half the size of Arielle’s little finger. There was a trigram engraved with a small shape on it.

"I keep the heat in this rock. And for those in need, they can bring their crystal stones for us to fill with the mana they need."

She didn’t know why, but Arielle was always amazed by the explanation of mana and its power. She used her chance to ask a lot about mana usage.

"Priest Elis has always done his best in scientific research. If Your Highness has more questions, you can ask Priest Elis. I learned a lot from him."

The two of them arrived at the small garden where the Frostberry tree was, and the Priest Jill was allowed to withdraw.

Arielle looked at the tree in disappointment. There wasn’t a single fruit left for her to taste. She was a little disappointed that she wasn’t invited to see the Frostberry forest.

However, Arielle knew her place and realized she couldn’t force her will. If the person who invited her changed his mind and decided to cancel the invitation, Arielle couldn’t do anything about it.

The princess was pensive for a moment. She suddenly remembered Ronan’s offer of asking to marry him. Arielle was again sad because the man so easily asked a woman to marry him.

Northendell needed the figure of a wise queen and a role model for everyone. Whereas she... was not born to be a queen. Arielle was not queen material.

The thought made her feel sadder. She really didn’t know what had happened to her. She rejected the king’s request just like that, yet deep down, she felt comfortable with the man’s presence.

Her heart was always beating faster when he was around. The hug she gave to the man was also different from the hug she gave Tania. Her face reddened at the memory of their kiss.

Arielle admitted she didn’t hate it. She was too confused about what was going on. All of these feelings were new to Arielle, so she couldn’t understand what it meant.

"Thank you for sharing with me about mana, Priest Jill. It’s very interesting and I learned a lot," Arielle smiled and thanked the priest when their conversation ended.

She returned to the palace garden and chose to sit near the fountain that spouted warm water. She had no intention of returning to her room because the rabbit family would definitely not leave her alone.

She was grateful that she’d been able to leave the room earlier because the rabbits were all asleep.

AWOOOO!!!

Her body jolted in surprise and stiffened at the wolf’s howl. W-what is that? Was it the beast? Was it running loose in the palace ground? But... but, the full moon was still a long way off.

Arielle felt her heart pound so hard. She could have sworn she heard a wolf howl so close by. She looked around and saw no one in the garden.

Usually, there would even be one or two knights, guarding the palace compound. They would be patrolling from the Blackthorn Palace to the Colosseum, but this time, it seemed very quiet.

Arielle squinted at the sight of a tall figure who walked towards her from the direction of the Colosseum gate.

"Your Majesty?" Arielle gushed. She narrowed her eyes at the figure who continued to approach.

Ronan appeared different than usual. The man looked handsome in clothes that were not his usual fit. This time he was wearing a thin black shirt in this cold air. The top three buttons came off and revealed the few scars Arielle had seen.

However, that was not what made Arielle feel strange. It was because the man did not currently wear his mask and right now he was outside his bedroom and study. Didn’t this mean that other people could see his face now? His hair also looked very messy.

"Your Majesty, where have you been? Didn’t you hear a wolf howl just now?"

Ronan continued to approach. As soon as Arielle was within reach, without a word, he planted a deep kiss on her luscious lips.
