Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 56: There Is A Snow Storm Outside
Arielle couldn’t sleep. She spent the next hours just thinking about her feelings. Ronan didn’t show any signs of waking up any time soon.
The man’s sleep couldn’t be disturbed by anything at all. Even when Arielle’s hand felt tired, and she pulled her hand from under the man’s head, Ronan didn’t wake up at all.
However, despite all of that, she still could not escape the king’s embrace.
Arielle wanted to go back to her room. They had been lying down since afternoon and she wasn’t sure what time it was now. As she looked down at the king’s calm expression as he slept, Arielle couldn’t bear to wake the man up to ask Ronan to let go of his embrace.
His work outside the palace must have been exhausting. The role of a king was not an easy job. Moreover, everything was done by himself. If she could, Arielle would also like to help Ronan and help lighten the man’s work.
She could be someone like Priest Elis, who managed the Cathedral, William with diplomatic affairs, or Lucas, who helped the man with the internal affairs of the palace.
But what could a girl who had just learned to read and write do?
Arielle was willing to make the king’s breakfast every day, but of course, that wouldn’t be enough. Yet... that was all Arielle could do. Ronan had done a lot for her, and yet she was just making breakfast for him, everyone aside from her could also do it.
Could she be a good friend to him? Arielle knew the term friend was a relationship with someone. It was when two people helped and cared for each other, shared empathy, and respected each other.
However, it felt like when she was with Ronan, the term friend became too abstract.
Arielle suddenly felt the arm that was tightly wrapped around her body slightly lift. After hours of waiting for Arielle, Ronan finally changed his sleeping position and shifted to be on his back.
Phew...
The girl took the opportunity to get up from the bed. She put on the shoes that Ronan had taken off for her earlier. She also took the coat and left the king’s private room. She walked down the deserted palace hall and made her way to the exit.
But just as she was about to leave the Blackthorn Palace, a guarding knight stopped her.
"Apologies, Your Highness. There is a heavy snowstorm outside. I’m afraid that Your Highness won’t be able to return to the Whitethorn Palace for tonight."
"Huh?"
Arielle looked around, but all the glass windows of the palace were covered with wood, so Arielle couldn’t see what was happening outside the palace. Perhaps the function of the wood was to reduce the chance that someone would be injured by a shard of glass if the window was broken by a storm, Arielle thought.
"Snowstorm? Right now?" asked Arielle one more time to make sure.
The guard knight nodded.
"Can I see?" Arielle wanted to check it. If the storm wasn’t too heavy, she would have pushed herself through.
The knight complied with Arielle’s wish and asked the two palace doormen to open a small gap so Arielle could peek out. The girl put her face closer, but the cold wind blew hard against her and made some of the snow fall on her face.
Arielle immediately pulled back and gasped. The three guards behind her tried to stretch out their arms to help the princess but restrained themself for fear of being rude. They were worried, but on the other hand, the three of them refrained from smiling because Arielle suddenly laughed, feeling funny when the snowflakes fell on her face.
"Wow, this is the first time I’ve seen a snowstorm," said Arielle enthusiastically.
While at Northendell, Arielle often saw snowfall but never a storm.
"Your Highness?" asked the guards to make sure the princess was okay.
Arielle ignored the guard’s call and opened the palace door again. She put her hands on her head so she wouldn’t be hit in the face by the snow.
She turned her head around and inspected the entire palace environment. She noticed that even the balconies and the entire palace halls were covered with snow. Arielle blinked in awe at the different world in front of her.
From a distance, she witnessed that the fountain in the palace gardens was being overwhelmed by the snow and completely covered by the snow, even though its height was even taller than the king’s body.
"Whoa... this is amazing!" said Arielle who enjoyed the view. But her body couldn’t stand the coldness. Obviously, if Arielle forced herself to walk outside in this weather, she would just drown and freeze to death.
Arielle went back in and closed the palace door because her face started to get frozen.
"I think I’m really stuck here," Arielle said bitterly.
"If Your Highness wishes, we will summon Mister Lucas to provide you with a room."
"Lucas? Is he here?"
The guard knight motioned forward, a silent gesture that asked the princess, Arielle, to walk ahead of him. But when they both turned around to head off to find Lucas, someone called out to them.
"Arielle?"
Arielle turned and found the king standing at the top of the stairs. His eyes looked droopy, a clear sign that the man had not fully woken up. Did he rush out when he realized that Arielle left?
"Ah, you can leave me alone." Arielle glanced at the knight.
The knight bowed respectfully and said. "Then I’ll go back on my round, Your Highness."
Arielle gave a sweet smile to him, as well as the two palace gatekeepers. The girl rushed up the stairs and touched Ronan’s arms. Arielle turned the man’s body around then pushed him back in the direction they came from.
"What are you doing outside the room, Your Majesty? I thought you were still resting," Arielle said worriedly.
Ronan yawned again and let his body be pushed from behind by the princess. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"I need you," he answered half-sleepy.
