Chapter 58: Saying Farewell To Her Bunnies

Preparations for their departure for Frostmount Village were finally completed. Frostmount Village itself was located near the border of the western kingdom, the Wolgast Kingdom.

This was one of the crowded villages because of its function as a liaison to Wolgast. Frostmount Village became a heaven for merchants as well as nobles.

The Wolgast Kingdom itself was one of the pillar kingdoms along with Northendell in the North, Nieverdell in the South and Thebis in the East.

The geographical conditions of Wolgast were almost similar to Nieverdell, not as extreme as Northendell with its eternal ice or Thebis which only contained deserts. So the people there were usually unable to unlock their mana stream.

Arielle recalled that when the Wolgast representatives visited the South, all the princes and princesses of Nieverdell were given lots of beautiful dresses and sparkling gems.

Arielle did not get any because, at that time, she was not present at the party. Tania said the westerners were quite shrewd in trade, and that was what made them a prosperous kingdom.

"Your Highness, your carriage is ready," Lucas said.

Arielle turned and saw Lucas near her bedroom door. Arielle set down her white teacup on a small saucer. She then looked at Tania, who smiled at her.

Arielle’s steps were stopped, the rabbit family she saved a few days ago jumped closer here who had just stood up.

"Er... I think you guys should stay here. I promise Lucas will take care of you, don’t you, Lucas?" ask Arielle, gently shooing the rabbits away. Arielle needed some space for walking but those rabbits kept circling her making the girl worried about stepping on one of them.

Arielle looked at Tania asking for help. But Tania, who found the situation so adorable, didn’t want to help, she just laughed instead. So was Lucas.

One of the rabbits even jumped towards Arielle’s skirt which was touching the floor. The two smallest jumps around Arielle too, they seem to be excited about the journey that Arielle will take.

Arielle tried to escape by lifting her skirt causing one of the bunnies to roll down onto the floor. Not long after, the rabbit got up again and jumped at her. Arielle let out a deep sigh.

"What should I do?" Arielle asked Lucas who was still faithfully waiting near the door.

"We still can’t bring them, Your Highness," Lucas said with a little chuckle.

Tania took Arielle’s luggage out first and Lucas helped the princess by putting all the rabbits into the basket where they were used as the sleeping area. Arielle used the opportunity to run out of the room.

After returning the rabbits to the basket. Lucas followed Arielle and Tania out of the room. Without him knowing, the smallest rabbit jumped out of the basket and followed the man’s footsteps.

Outside Arielle’s room, The old woman grabbed a red coat, decorated with black fur around the neck, as an additional coat for Arielle’s warmth once they left the palace. After she draped it on the princess’s shoulder, the old woman also reached for her own coat.

"I can carry it myself, Tania."

Arielle reached for her suitcase quickly before the older woman carried it.

"But this is my job," said Tania.

"Your job is to accompany me," replied Arielle softly.

Lucas, who had been waiting for a moment, smiled at the princess’ tenderness.

"We’re ready," Arielle told Lucas.

The man stretched out his hand and grabbed the princess’ suitcase.

"Allow me to help."

Arielle allowed Lucas to help carry her suitcase. She wrapped her arms around Tania’s arms and walked side by side with her. In the courtyard of the palace, a horse carriage and several knights with their respective horses were waiting.

Ah...

Lucas was quite surprised when his leg was hit by a small object. As he looked down, he could see a rabbit falling behind his feet. But as soon as the man tried to catch it, the rabbit jumped into the snow on the side and stuck half of its body.

Ronan was talking to William when the man suddenly signaled for his king to look back. Ronan listened to him and glanced behind him. The king immediately stopped his brief conversation with William to pick up Arielle.

Ronan raised the rabbit by its ear. Their eyes stared intently at each other. He gave the rabbit to Lucas. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Take good care of them."

"I will, Your Majesty."

Ronan turned to Arielle who was looking worriedly at the rabbit.

"Sorry to keep you waiting so long. We had to clear up the snow from last night’s storm."

"It’s all right, Your Majesty. I’m enjoying my time well," replied Arielle.

Ronan smiled behind his mask. He helped the girl into the carriage. The carriage would be occupied by three people, Arielle, Tania, and one of the apprentice priests to help warm them up if needed.

Ronan closed the carriage door slowly. He asked Arielle to come closer to the window.

"Yes?" asked Arielle after opening the window.

"The journey will take about two days. If you want to rest, tell me, don’t push yourself. I’ll ride right behind you. Understand?"

Arielle nodded and made Ronan feel exasperated because she probably wasn’t going to listen. She was probably excited to reach the village fast, her lips were curled into a smile and her cheeks were blossoming red.

Once again, Ronan wanted to kiss Arielle, but the girl closed the carriage window that was ultimately blocking him while smiling at him. Ronan only smiled at her then returned to his horse.

"You look disappointed, Your Majesty?" asked William worriedly. Although he was actually holding back his own laughter.

"Shut up. You can’t see my face. Don’t make assumptions," said Ronan coldly.

William just chuckled and returned to his horse.

Arielle waved her hand at Lucas as well as the little rabbit in the man’s arms. They’ll be back in a few days. Arielle will miss her bunnies very much.

The group of carriages and horses left the palace grounds. And Lucas, who was left alone, just let out a long sigh. For some reason, he felt jealous. Lucas also wanted to enjoy the Frostberry forest.
