Chapter 591: [Bonus Chapter] Simon And Peach, The New Sibling

Arielle waved her hand from the front of the cathedral’s main balcony overlooking a wide field full of people. The field was surrounded by various flags with the signs of wolves, flowers, and the sun. Her heart was beating very fast because she had never waved in front of these many people at once.

During the parade on her wedding day, everything she saw was only in a flash as the carriage kept going, and this time, everyone really came together as one so she could see them clearly. Arielle didn’t recognize them all. She was too overwhelmed by the feelings she felt. Beside her, Ronan just stood straight without waving his hand.

William, Kael, Priest Elis, as well as Lazarus and Aimee stood one step behind her, while Sasha slipped between William and Kael, but the boy was still one step behind Arielle and Ronan. Meanwhile, Irene stood hiding behind William and Priest Elis. She didn’t dare to see so many people. Tania held the girl’s hand so she wouldn’t feel alone.

After greeting the people of the Northendell Kingdom, Priest Elis kindly asked Arielle to meet the royal guests who were already waiting for her.

Ronan and Arielle were then invited into the meeting room where Archie, King Petra from Wolgast, to the Prime Minister of Thebis was waiting for her. Actually, there was one other person that came, but Maxieno was nowhere to be seen in the meeting room. Even until now, Arielle didn’t know the reason for his coming to her coronation.

Given his dislike of humans, being in the same room with three male humans would definitely make the dragon feel nauseous. That was what Arielle assumed after getting to know Maxieno.

Elsewhere, a man lowered his hood. He stood among the thousands of humans who wanted to see the new Queen of Northendell. His eyes glazed over with tears. He clutched his aching chest. He should be... if he wasn’t so greedy and could see things on the better side, he would have had a chance to lead Arielle to become a queen like this.

However, everything had already happened. Perhaps if he was still in the same place, he would only become a hindrance for Arielle and the girl would never be able to shine as brightly as she did now. Archie must have done a good job and taught Arielle a lot.

When Arielle and her husband looked at each other lovingly, the man raised his hand and waved along with everyone around him. Did Arielle see him? Was there a glimmer of hope for Arielle to recognize him among today’s thousands of humans?

"Sir Simon, are you crying?" asked a young girl who was also standing beside him while waving along as the queen waved her hand to greet her people.

The man called Simon put his hood back on so no one would see him.

"No, the rain is too heavy right now," he muttered, still peeking at Arielle from under his hood.

Rain? The man looked around him. There was no rain right now. Not even a single snowflake fell. Surprisingly, Northendell felt warmer today, the man thought.

The man wiped the raindrops from his face. He turned away, leaving the young girl who also ran after him.

"Sir Simon! Wait for me!" the girl shouted then pulled the coat that the man was wearing.

Simon took the young girl’s hand and dragged her out of the crowd that filled the field.

"Peach, we’re going back to the South today," he said, causing the girl to gasp.

"Huh? Today? But why? I... have just met a boy I like at the inn next door. We are just in the introduction stage," the young girl protested. She did not accept that she suddenly had to leave the place.

"After this, the North has no more big events. We’ve also earned a lot of money. Don’t you want to meet your grandmother?" asked Simon who took the young girl back to their inn. He then brought out the box of money he had saved in the last two months since they had arrived in Northendell.

The young girl scowled and stomped her feet on the ground in annoyance. Even so, she still took out a wide cloth and filled it with her clothes. She grumbled because from the start she had asked Simon to come back home, but the man insisted he wanted to stay longer in the North until the coronation day of Princess Arielle. After all, the princess was also from Nieverdell like them.

They arrived at Northendell with a wagon full of fresh strawberries from Peach’s garden in the South. Simon insisted on selling all of them to the North because in the North, there would be many people from all over the kingdom who wanted to see the wedding of the king and the coronation of the queen of Northendell.

Sure enough, it had only been a week since they arrived in Northendell, and their strawberries were sold. After that, Simon was working part-time while waiting for the queen’s coronation, but then they get the news that Princess Arielle suddenly became ill.

That day, Simon also behaved more differently. He looked really worried about something. Peach didn’t know what made him like that. She always asked the man to come back to Nieverdell, but Simon refused and said he would not go home until he saw Princess Arielle recover and become queen of Northendell.

Peach wondered why Simon was so obsessed with Princess Arielle.

The man just answered. "Princess Arielle is also from Nieverdell. As a citizen of Nieverdell, he would be really proud to see Princess Nieverdell become a queen in another kingdom."

Even until now, Peach still didn’t understand what the man meant. She just let Simon do whatever he wanted. He later said he had been accepted as a gravedigger because for the past month of his last visit in Northendell so many people had frozen to death. Then, they ate and lived with Simon’s earnings.

If Peach were a more mature woman, perhaps she would also work, but since she was still a child, Simon forbade her because he didn’t want to make Peach sick. He didn’t want to make the girl’s grandmother in Nieverdell sad because Simon made his only granddaughter suffer.

Peach then became acquainted with a boy at the inn next door who was from the Wolgast Kingdom. His mother was a cloth merchant and came to Northendell to sell Wolgast’s finest fabrics.

After Peach was so close like this with the boy she liked, Simon wanted to take her home instead. Her hope of growing up together and getting married when she was eighteen shattered to pieces. Peach was really annoyed with Simon.

The young girl brought a piece of paper to write the name of the Village she lived in the South. Then, she knocked on the door to the room of the boy she liked, but no one opened the door. Perhaps the boy and his mother were still enjoying the festival in the square. Peach sadly tucked the paper under the door.

Simon, who was ready to return home, turned towards the next door. He could see that Peach looked sad while standing one step away from him.

"We can wait for them to come back," he said.

Peach shook her head. "No. I will hug him and will never want to go home with you again if I see his face," she said while pouting her lips forward.

Simon rolled his eyes. He turned away, leaving Peach still putting on a sad face. Not long after, the young girl ran to hold his hand.

"Do you think he will visit our village and ask to marry when we grow up?" Peach asked, making Simon almost burst out laughing.

"You’re still a kid and have thought this far?"

"Just answer..."

"I don’t know. If he likes you, he will do anything to get you back," Simon replied simply.

Peach climbed into the coachman’s seat and sat right next to Simon. Simon checked everything carefully and was ready to head back to the South. He had seen Arielle. The girl looked healthy and fine. Nothing was different. Only her hair looked shorter, but she was still beautiful like her late mother.

"Simon, if I marry the boy next door, will you be my guardian?" Peach asked hopefully.

Simon laughed. "It’s an honor for me to do so."

The young girl then laughed happily and hugged Simon. "You know, I’ve treated you like my own brother," she said, making Simon smile faintly.

"Thank you," the man replied.
