Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 611: The Ancient Curse (Cecillia’s Point Of Views)
The carriage arrived at a smoother road. I couldn’t see what was outside because there were no windows on the carriage. I could only rely on my hearing, and the cheers of many people could be heard from the outside. Men and women, all gathered in one place. I had never heard so much noise before.
After wondering about what was happening outside and whose voices I could hear, the carriage I was on stopped and the doors opened again. I was surprised that it wasn’t the Northendell representative who opened the door as usual, but a man in a black mask.
The man held out his hand. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Princess, welcome to Northendell," he said.
That voice... that voice was almost the same as the male representative of the kingdom yesterday. I accepted the hand, and when the man held my hand, I was immediately convinced that the masked man was the same man as the one who accompanied me on my journey. But, why was he wearing a mask?
I stared at him, and even when I already got off the carriage, I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. A small chuckle slipped from the man’s mouth, and it made me frown. I was too fixated on the man in front of me and forgot that many people had surrounded us.
I had arrived at Northendell’s castle. It was much bigger and grander than my father’s castle in Birwick. My father’s castle was already very big compared to the houses of the people in the village, but I never thought that there would be a bigger and more beautiful place than it.
I almost took my hand when the man introduced himself as a king, but the man held it back. The man in front of me turned out to be none other than King Theodore D. Blackthorn himself. The man her father found difficult.
My heart beat faster. It wasn’t a pleasant pounding, only filled with nervousness and fear. I held my chest that ached a bit. Why did that man have to pretend to be a royal representative and hide his identity? And why was he wearing a mask?
I looked up again, and the man turned to me. I could see the corners of his eyes narrowing behind the mask. The man seemed to be smiling, but I wasn’t impressed at all.
The man invited me to enter his palace, and at the door of the palace stood a young woman who was smiling gently at me.
"I’m so happy that you arrived safely. I was worried because you arrived two days late. I couldn’t even sleep thinking about it."
"Thank you for your concern. We have returned safely," King Theodre replied.
Who was this young woman? King Theodre cleared his throat and introduced the woman in front of me as his wife.
"Princess Cecillia. She is Alice, the Queen of Northendell."
I automatically let go of my hand from that man and bowed to respect that woman as the queen of a great kingdom. The woman in front of me almost held the same power as my mother. She was the mother of the Northendell Kingdom.
I realized my status. I wasn’t surprised because my father had it too. A concubine. However, I heard that my father’s concubine had died long before I was born. Now, I arrived in this foreign land as a concubine. The king’s woman. My throat felt dry because I knew that I wouldn’t get a happy story like my mother often told me before going to bed, it was where a princess would fall in love with a prince and they would get married.
It was just a story that I would never be able to feel. In fact, I was going to marry a man I never knew. A man who probably didn’t love me either and would only see me as a concubine. A possession.
Queen Alicia received me very warmly. After the day of our first meeting at that time, she would always come to meet me and invite me to talk about whatever it was over a cup of tea so we could get closer.
I was still not used to the new life as a concubine. Even though I officially became the concubine of King Theodore, that man never once tried to talk to me. However, I could feel that the man was always looking at me whenever I went somewhere. The place I always went to was the cathedral, the only place I felt familiar because it was where I could pray to the Moon Goddess whenever I was feeling down.
However, this time was different. When I was praying, suddenly a man sat beside me. He was King Theodore. I quickly stood up to pay him respects, but the man held my hand and told me to sit beside him.
His hand was really warm, but it felt so strange and made me uncomfortable. It seemed he also noticed my discomfort and let go of his grip on my wrist.
"Do you need anything?" he asked.
I shook my head. What could I ask for? Most of my needs were very well fulfilled. Food always came on time, beautiful dresses were never empty from my cupboard, and many more. There was nothing I could ask for anymore. Yet, my heart still felt empty. I felt like there was a hole that I myself didn’t understand. Being surrounded by luxury didn’t really make me happy.
"Eum... I.. am not very good at communicating with women."
The man took off his mask and my eyes were glued to the black thing released from his face. Until this moment, I couldn’t understand why the man was wearing a mask. Queen Alicia also didn’t know the reason, even though they had been married for five years. Even the queen had not been able to see the king’s face for five years.
This made the queen feel quite sad. I concluded that the man didn’t want his face to be seen, so I lowered my gaze so as not to offend him.
"Cecillia," he called.
