Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 64: A Smile Worth A Kiss
The group arrived at King Ronan’s manor just before dark. The manor was located on the slope of a hill. At the bottom of the hill, there was a very large village. From a distance, a large river was visible that separated the two kingdoms from each other.
If they were lucky, the people of Frostmount were able to catch a glimpse of the sun setting in the west. But that only happened once every few years.
After she looked around their surroundings, Arielle jogged after Tania to enter the manor. The two were introduced to the butler at the manor, Mister Sebastian. Sebastian took Arielle and Tania to their respective rooms.
Arielle paid attention to every detail of her room with admiration. The room she was given was indeed smaller than the one in the Whitethorn Palace. However, because the distance between the furniture was quite close, the room felt warmer. Her head then tilted at the sight of an object covered by a white cloth.
Arielle came closer and pulled the cloth away. A new canvas, various paints and new brushes laid in front of her. Her bedroom door opened, and Ronan just walked in. The man had removed his armor and had changed into more casual clothes.
"Do you like your present?" asked Ron.
The man approached slowly then sat on Arielle’s bed. Arielle nodded slowly.
"Thank you," she said shyly.
"I hope you can enjoy your day here. If you need something, just ask Sebastian. If you want to visit the village, take Sebastian, and I will provide two knights to guard you."
"Thank you, Your Majesty. You have done a lot for me."
Ronan smiled a little. He took off his mask and lay down on the bed, his eyes stared at the valance tied to the four bedposts. For a moment Ronan was lost in thought on whether he should go or stay in the manor with Arielle.
He could have sent William to settle the conflict with the Westerners. But Ronan wanted to see with his own eyes the rebels get sentenced to death. Ah, Ronan felt guilty towards Arielle. He had promised to show the girl the Frostberry forest.
Arielle grabbed a paper and pencil from the brush case in front of her. She saw the king was lost in thought and began to sketch the man’s face.
"What are you thinking now?" asked Arielle.
"Hmm?"
"You look dazed. Is there something troubling your mind, Your Majesty?"
Ronan tilted his body towards Arielle.
"Nothing," he said softly.
Ronan immediately got up and walked slowly towards Arielle, he then rested his head on the girl’s shoulder. The sofa that Arielle occupied was quite long, but the man chose to sit beside Arielle without a distance between them.
His hand slipped behind Arielle’s back to hold her body, and his chin was on the girl’s shoulder to peek at what Arielle was drawing.
"What are you doing?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Arielle, who was shy to show the rough sketch, folded the paper as soon as possible. But her efforts were in vain. Ronan grabbed the paper in her hand quickly then opened it back.
"Is this me?" asked Ronan, looking at the sketched face. Arielle answered with a nod of her head.
"I intend to make a simple sketch and then transfer it to the canvas tomorrow, then I will give it to you as a token of my gratitude," she replied with a low voice.
Ronan snapped his finger as he got an idea.
"Tonight I’m giving you a chance to paint me," said Ronan enthusiastically.
The man then left Arielle alone. Arielle looked out of her room at Ronan, who left so suddenly. She wondered what the man would do again? Obviously, Arielle wouldn’t be able to start painting if the model ran away...
Arielle scratched her cheek, she felt confused by the king’s way of thinking. She closed the door after he left.
The princess kept her unfinished sketch on the table and moved the canvas and the easel to the edge of the room so as not to block her access to the large window.
The room did not have a balcony. However, the large window was enough for Arielle to see the whole view of the village at the foot of the hill. Arielle realized her room had the best view in the whole manor.
While Arielle was happy to see the scenery and sketch in her head for a new painting, the door to her room opened again. Her mouth opened in disbelief to see Ronan back with William carrying a few things.
"Tonight you’re going to draw me, right?" asked Ronan.
The man gestured to William with his index finger to come forward.
"What kind of clothes should I wear? Should I look authoritative?"
William came forward, and he presented a red shirt with many badges in front of it. It was Ronan’s pride as a king, he wore it when there was a royal event.
"Or is it better to look intimidating?" asked Ronan again.
William put down the king’s red clothes and lifted the black clothes with several leather ties and thick gray fur coiled from under the right chest across to his left shoulder. Obviously, it was the king’s armor he often used for hunting, like field outfits.
"Ah, how about the mask? What kind of masks are good for the painting?" asked Ronan. He continued to question Arielle for her opinion, who still didn’t know what was going on.
William opened a leather bag and revealed several of Ronan’s masks. Arielle had seen some of them before, but there was a golden mask that Arielle had never seen before.
"How about this one? Which one should I wear?"
A nervous Arielle stepped forward. Her hands were clasped together, as she looked at all the things that William was carrying carefully. She looked at William, who seemed unimpressed by the enthusiasm Ronan was showing right now.
"Um... William, thanks for the hard work. But... can you leave us alone? There’s something I want to discuss with His Majesty the King," said Arielle.
William, who understood, bowed his head respectfully and gave the girl a small smile. He excused himself politely.
Actually, the idea to paint Ronan was just a fleeting idea. Arielle did not expect that the man was this enthusiastic. She was not too sure that the results would be perfect. At least Arielle knew the basics of drawing, but she only painted simple, not for public display.
"Your Majesty, I only intend to paint simply," Arielle said. She moved away from the king’s clothes that were placed on her bed.
"I know."
"I don’t think we need any of this."
"We don’t?"
Arielle took Ronan’s hand and led the man to sit on the sofa. The girl slid her hand through his black hair and tugged at the knot of the mask. The red iris stares at Arielle without blinking.
"I want to paint you as a man. As yourself." Arielle replied with a sweet smile
Ronan was so transfixed by Arielle’s words just now. The girl’s smile was so sweet it made Ronan’s heart beat faster. Arielle chuckled softly at the stiff expression of the king.
The girl brushed Ronan’s hair with her fingers, and made the man close his eyes. Arielle messed up Ronan’s hair for a casual look, then she smoothed the collar of the man’s black shirt to reveal some of Ronan’s collarbone.
After that, Arielle touched the man’s cheeks and pinched them gently. Ronan immediately opened his eyes.
"What are you doing?" he asked hoarsely.
"Smile. Don’t be so stiff," replied Arielle. She tugged Ronan’s cheek for a smile. The man’s supple cheeks reminded him of those of the rabbits she had left at Whitethorn Palace. As she gazed upon the adorable face of a king, Arielle chuckled in amusement.
Ronan swallowed his saliva, holding something in him. His eyes dropped to meet Arielle’s luscious lips.
"My smile is worth a kiss," said the man, as he looked intently at Arielle’s lips.
"Huh?" Arielle blinked her eyes in confusion.
His gaze moved upwards, staring straight at the black irises that were staring at him in confusion. Ronan held his smile, and as much as possible, he put on a cool and calm face without a smile.
"I’m serious," he said again in a sharp tone.
