Chapter 80: Going Back To The Manor

Arielle slowly started to regain consciousness but she still didn’t have enough energy to open her eyes. She could feel someone’s body hugging her tightly from behind.

"It’s not enough," Ronan muttered to himself.

(Your Majesty? Is that you?) asked Arielle inwardly.

With difficulty, she lifted her face. With her remaining strength, Arielle opened her eyes. She vaguely saw the figure of a man who then turned into a wolf.

Arielle felt very dizzy. Even so, she could feel a soft warmth envelop her body. The fur felt very soft.

"Thank you," Arielle replied in a very low voice.

Ronan no longer felt Arielle’s body shiver, neither did the child. He was worried again when the girl gripped his fur tightly and released it again.

It happened several times. At least that way, Ronan knew Arielle still had some energy left.

The blizzard slowly began to subside. Half of the hollow pit was almost filled with snow. No one knew how long they had waited in the cave.

In the beginning, Ronan tried to count every second that passed, but everything felt blurry. He wondered, where did the fox go? Did it get lost, or the creature couldn’t find help?

The king really wanted to find William, but he also couldn’t leave Arielle and this fainted child.

Ronan’s head lifted when he felt Arielle’s body squirm slowly and he wondered if she woke up. The girl simply buried her face in his black fur. He eased up and closed his eyes.

Ronan quickly froze when the princess got up. He heard her footsteps pace around.

Ronan was relieved that she was awake now. He opened his eyes to sneak a glance and found the girl staring at him intently. Ronan turned his face away so that Arielle wouldn’t recognize him in his wolf form due to the distinct scar on his face.

It was better if she thought that a random wolf saved her. Something like this wasn’t strange considering her ability to befriend animals—

Ronan subconsciously growled when the princess touched the top of his head and gently stroked his fur. Arielle laid down back on top of the wolf’s body and let out a long sigh.

Ronan put his tail on the girl’s lap, and Arielle hugged him tightly. Ronan groaned softly in relief that the girl had stopped touching him with her hand.

(What happened just now? She doesn’t recognize me, right?) Ronan asked inwardly.

He wagged his tail at Arielle’s lap, but the girl didn’t move at all.

(Huh? Fainted again?)

After a long wait, the fox finally returned. It did not come alone, the fox took William with him. William slightly tiptoed to see a black wolf lying down with the princess. However, when he saw the sharp eyes with red irises and the scar on the wolf’s face, William sighed in relief. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Sorry to keep you waiting so long," he said apologetically.

Ronan didn’t reply, he just wagged his tail then rested his head on his two front (paw) hands. William tried to be patient when he found the king’s cold attitude. He knew the man must have been annoyed at the long wait and was now sulking.

"A lot of trees have been knocked down due to the storm," William continued as he tried to give an explanation, but Ronan was completely unimpressed.

The king wagged his tail faster and impatiently waited for William to immediately pick up Arielle.

William approached to lift Junia first and then straightened Arielle’s body so that Ronan could transform back into a human form. Slowly the black fur faded, and the two claws turned into fingers. Ronan stretched his stiff body.

William helped remove the king’s clothes from Arielle’s body so that the king could return fully dressed. If the man came out in the form of a wolf, the people in the manor would be terrified.

After Ronan got dressed, the man pulled Arielle’s body and lifted her easily.

When he gazed out, the sky was completely dark, meaning that night had come. As they stepped out of the cave, several people appeared, led by Sebastian. They all carried torches alongside some of his knights. Namina was also present.

The few people there who realized the king’s face was not covered by a mask looked down instantly. Ronan passed them just like that.

"The night is getting colder, we must return soon," he ordered.

Ronan wasted no time. He followed a knight’s direction to scout the path around the hill due to their impossible condition climbing the slopes of a nearby ravine.

Ronan placed Arielle on his bed. He left his room temporarily when Tania appeared with Arielle’s warmer clothes. Tania rushed to change Arielle’s clothes, assisted by several female servants there.

The woman took off Arielle’s wet and cold clothes and then wiped Arielle’s body with a warm towel. She didn’t forget to put Arielle’s clothes back on, Tania put her socks on and covered her with the blanket so that the girl’s body was warmer.

After Tania and the maids left his room, Ronan returned and ordered Namina as well as a doctor to check Arielle’s condition. The doctor said that the princess’ pulse was slightly weak. This was probably caused by the fatigue felt by the princess.

Namina touched Arielle’s arm and shook his head slowly.

"Sorry, Your Majesty, I can’t sense the mana flow from within Princess Arielle’s body. And for the light mana... I can’t check it," answered Namina with his head down.

Ronan recalled the incident earlier when he found Arielle. He then asked Namina to call the priest in charge of checking Junia’s condition.

"Sorry, Your Majesty. I also can’t feel the mana flow in the child," replied the Priest.

Ronan waved his hand and asked them to leave him alone. William knocked on the king’s bedroom door and found Ronan sitting cross-legged on his sofa.

"Did something happen?" he asked.

The king nodded and poured the whiskey into his glass. He sipped the whiskey for a moment and tried to understand what was happening.
