Chapter 84: Arielle Is Awake

"Moon Goddess?" Arielle looked at the man curiously. "Who is she? Is she my mother who abandoned me and left me all alone?"

The old man chuckled a little seeing Arielle’s confused face.

"The Moon Goddess is not a name. She is an entity that blesses us to maintain the balance of the earth. Your mother was one of her children... but unfortunately, we found her too late because she passed away before we could help her."

Arielle’s heart felt like it was torn when she heard the man’s words.

"My mother... is gone?" she asked in a trembling voice. Her hopes to find the woman who had given birth to her were crushed in an instant. Arielle’s face turned red and tears fell down her cheeks.

The man looked at Arielle sadly.

"Don’t be sad. Your mother loved you very much even while you were in her womb." The man’s words made Arielle rub her face roughly.

"Sir, who are you really? How did you know my mother, and why couldn’t you save her in the first place?" the girl asked.

The sky suddenly became windy, and the old man looked up.

"Ah, it’s time for you to go home. Our ride has come."

The wind was getting stronger. Arielle raised her hand to block the wind from hitting her face. She then looked up and was surprised to see an adult dragon landed in front of her.

Her eyes widened in disbelief seeing a dragon with her own eyes. The mythical creature that only became stories actually stood in front of her eyes.

The man rode on the dragon’s back, and the dragon didn’t look bothered at all. The old man stretched out his hand to Arielle. "Let me take you home. His Majesty the King of Northendell must have missed you very much," he replied in an amused tone.

The dragon snorted which surprised Arielle.

"I hate that man," said the dragon, which left Arielle even more surprised.

The old man atop the dragon laughed heartily and patted the dragon like it was his own friend. He turned to Arielle and once again reached out his hand for the girl to quickly climb up.

Arielle approached with short steps.

"Excuse me, Lord Dragon," said Arielle fearfully as she asked the dragon’s permission.

The dragon just turned his face and allowed Arielle to ride his back.

"Hold fast!" cried the old man, and at once, they shot up through the clouds which made Arielle scream loudly.

"Aaaaaaaa!!!!"

The old man laughed out loud again. Then the dragon started to balance his body in the air and Arielle breathed a sigh of relief. They flew through the sky quietly.

Arielle wanted to peek down at the animal friends she left behind. But then she realized the view from above the sky was amazing.

Arielle released one of her grips from the man’s tunic and stretched it upwards. It felt like she and the stars were very close, and Arielle could pick them up. The moon also looked bigger.

They soon arrived at a large field. Arielle knew the place, as she noticed that it held the same gate as before. Even the big rooted trees, as well as the blooming flowers, looked the same.

Arielle descended from the dragon’s back, but the old man remained motionless in his place.

"Go inside that gate again, and you’ll arrive back."

"Sir, you still haven’t answered my previous question," said Arielle.

The man just smirked.

"One day, I’ll pick you up at the right time. I’ll explain everything... See you later!" shouted the old man as he flew back with his dragon.

Arielle looked around and saw the gate in front of her, which had now been opened. Arielle trusted the man and stepped inside. Her eyes then squinted from the bright light.

Arielle opened her eyes slowly. Instantly she blinked to adjust the light entering her eyes. She tried to swallow her saliva to moisten her dry throat. Arielle finally heard her heartbeat again.

Her feet were being massaged gently. Arielle tried to see who was touching her feet.

"Tania?" called Arielle in a very small voice. Her throat ached when she spoke.

The king’s room was quiet enough that Tania could hear the whispering voice. The woman turned and was surprised to see Arielle, who was already conscious.

"Princess..."

The old woman got up from the floor and hugged Arielle tightly. Her tears streamed down her face, she couldn’t hold them back any longer.

Finally... she could breathe a sigh of relief now. All night she was filled with anxiety and wondered when the princess would wake up again...

Tania really felt guilty because she allowed Arielle to leave the manor during the blizzard. If she had been more assertive, surely Arielle would never be in such an accident.

"Princess... I was really worried..." said Tania, who was relieved that Arielle had finally regained consciousness.

"Tania... water...." replied Arielle, who was in pain because her throat felt very dry.

"Oh, I’m sorry, Your Highness... I’m just too happy that you’re awake now," Tania replied as she wiped the tears from her face. "I’ll get some warm water right away."

Tania helped Arielle to sit up from her laying down position. The woman put down some pillows to support the girl. After she made sure Arielle was sitting comfortably, the woman rushed out of the room to provide for all of Arielle’s needs.

Arielle didn’t only need drinking water. The girl also hadn’t filled her stomach since yesterday. Tania was quite excited to report that Arielle had regained consciousness, which made the maids feel relieved, too.

Sebastian, who had just left the king’s study, rushed to the kitchen to prepare all kinds of warm food for Arielle.

All the commotion didn’t escape from the eyes of William, who was waiting for a private conversation between the two kings in the room behind him to conclude. The man grabbed the arm of a maid who passed by with a basin of water.

"What is it?" he asked. He referred to the servants going up and down the stairs suddenly enlivened.

"Oh, Lord William... Princess Arielle has come to consciousness."

"Princess Arielle?"

"That’s right, sir. We are preparing warm water for the princess," replied the female servant.

William released his grip and told the woman to continue with her work. He glanced at the door behind him. The man contemplated whether he should inform King Ronan about this or wait until the two kings finished their conversation.

After careful consideration, William decided not to tell the king the news. Apart from not wanting to make the man leave King Petra alone, he also wanted to give Princess Arielle a chance to handle herself without being disturbed by others.

Arielle soon received a glass of warm water and thanked Tania. She didn’t have the energy to speak. She let Tania wipe her body from sweat and change into looser clothes.

After that, Sebastian entered and pushed in a trolley containing various types of food, and served them in front of her. Arielle smiled at their efforts. She looked at the steam that rose from the plates and bowls and concluded they must have just cooked them.

Arielle’s stomach growled. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

She was really hungry right now.
