Lucifer's Descendant System-Chapter 301 - 301 The First Demon
Chapter 301 - 301 The First Demon
It was not a sentence anyone other than they two could understand, but Noah expected it to have a large impact.
He just didn't expect to see tears roll down Michael's face, "Thank you."
Noah had no way of knowing it beforehand, but it was clear those words held a deep meaning to him. He was also very curious as to what was behind those things, but he couldn't ask, he knew it wouldn't be right. Instead, he looked around and waited, trying to see others' responses. And, as expected, almost nobody understand shit about what was going on. It was like... No, they had absolutely no idea about what was going on.
'What is even this weird atmosphere going on?' Noah asked himself, unwittingly talking to a certain snake.
'Right? Now they look like a couple, so disgusting. Look, they are just tacky by this point. Why's that other one even crying?' Lilith's voice called him back to reality. Making him realize he was standing, in the middle of the room, staring at the bearded warrior, with his hand on Michael's shoulder, and Michael himself who was drying up his eyes.
'It really looks like you were cheated on for someone on the outside. What is this? A Boys love cliche? Noah, just move!' Lilith called him out, making him turn around and sit down, trying his hardest to keep a poker face.
"Why are you so embarassed? Was there something between you and him?" a female voice whispered in his ears, making Lilith cackle onto his mind.
"What?! No! Absolutely not! I'm not into that kind of thing!" He said, pulling his body away from the souce of that voice, only to see the female healer of the team holding back her laughter.
"Pffft! To think you really fell for that." Noah tried to be angry, but as soon as he looked at her as saw her smiling under her hand, all animosity just flew away from his mind. Rather, he felt like joining her on laughing.
'Since when are you this forgiving? If it were me you'd probably have at least thrown a fireball at me by now,' lilith told him, making him hold himself back from rolling his eyes.
'Shut up. This has nothing to do with you. And yes, if you made that joke, you'd be dead," Noah jokingly aswered Lilith, but before he could address the healer, Michael's voice rang, pulling his attention.
"Today is a very important day for me. Most of you didn't know, but a deep crack had formed between two halves of the Khan Family. As I was not strong enough, and hadn't reached my peak yet, neither of the sides trusted me, and I had the leisure to pick which one I trusted the most, between the factions fighting for being the next head. Tyrel here is a B Rank Blessed, who is in his prime. He was assigned as a counselor and supervisor, to train me and make me capable of leading you guys. We went from losing two to three blessed in almost every fortress, to now working together for months, with no casualties, all because of his guidance," Michael's words made a few of the blessed pale. They knew Michael was a B Rank Blessed, and that the bearded warrior was also very strong and probably on the B Rank, but the fact that he was someone from the inner circle of the Khan Family was not knows by many. After all, Noah knew it there was a secret going on from how they behaved when talking to each other. But the fact that he would disclose it at just the perfect time... Noah realized this Tyrel, the bearded warrior, was more important than he had originally expected. To him, even the fact that Marcel was actually taking over the Khan Family despite being individually weaker than even Michael was a surprise, but that there were such things going on behind the surface... It was just unexpected. "I have now been acknowledged by the Khan Family as a Group Leader. We will go into that fight as another invasion group, but we will come out as a team of the Khan Family's inner circle!"
Noah could see the glow in everyone's eyes, as they cheered together with Michael. Only three people did not join the cheers, for vastly different reasons. Noah, the healer, and the scout. The scout had a sour expression, which made Noah question whether this right now had any other meaning, aside from the Khan Family acknowledging those who would die tonight. He also saw a hind of sadness and aprehension of the healer's face, which agreed with the scout's behavior. 'Simplemindedness really is a double-edged sword,' he thought, laking to Lilith.
'It sure is. This is just a play to get their spirits up so that more can survive the fight, isn't it?' Noah was surprised at Lilith's insight, but not so much.
'So you know...' he told her mentally.
'Of course. I can remember only a few things, but I know this is a strategy very useful with mortals. Giving them hope even against impossible odds, It's one of the base teachings of God, and why we were stuck at a standstill in the great war between the angels.'
'Great war? I think it's the first time you talk to me about that," Noah said, trying to look down, but unable to see but her head, hanging from his neck.
'But you already know about it. The war between His Majesty Lucifer and God, which ended up with him being confined in and confided hell for all eternity. In the end, even if the odds are impossible, so long as they have hope, they won't give up. So even if they die, they can at least take one or two enemies with them. A war of wits to the last man is way fiercer than any other battle,' her words flowed like a smooth speech, but Noah knew there was no sophistry behind them. Lilith was as straightfoward as it gets. Even for a demon, or better, especially for a demon. She was just too proud to be roundabout. Even though, when they first met, she was like a scaredy cat. 'What are you thinking about me? I can feel your emotions, remember?' she interjected, making Noah come back from his thoughts.
'Not much. I was just remembering how we met. You were much sweeter and shy back then.'
'It hasn't even been that long of a time, you know. Rather, if you consider how old I and Bel are, you could say we met just yesterday,' she said, teasing him.
'Yeah, but I'm a human, and not even 25 years old yet. To me it feels like we've known each other since forever. Even when we first met, I already felt connected to you,' Noah circled around, spending time while crossing his arms and pretending to takea nap, not to get interrupted by anyone.
'Of course you did. You are Lucifer's Descendant. And I am Lilith, the first demon to ever exist.'
'Eh, what did you just say?' Lucifer opened his eyes wide as he heard Lilith's words, asking her again. 'Why did you say that?' he asked, as she did not repeat herself.
'I don't know... Why did I just say that? Why was I so confident about it? I don't know anything, I don't know! Why can't I remember, God, why don't I know anything?!' Lilith snapped, making Noah not even have the time to think about what she just said.
'Hey, Lilith, snap out of it! Lilith!' He called her inside his mind, as he reached for his heck, bragging the snake on his hands. 'What the fuck? It's like she's trembling. What's happening?' Noah thought, this time only too himself, as he worried about Lilith's behaviors. 'Lilith, I'm here, you hear it, I'm here. Don;t worry about it. Even if you can't remember, we are still together, we can figure it out later, now rememberm we're together,' Noah told her, closing his hands around her head and using a small amount of healing flames, just to calm her down.
'Noah... Thank you. I'm better now,' she told him, as he slowly opened his hands, revealing her head as she coiled herself, 'I remember a few more things about who I used to be, now, but I don't think it'll be of any use to you,' she said, coling around his wrist like usual.
'What do you mean, not useful? I don't care about you because you're useful, I care because you are Lilith. My first contracted companion, and my friend,' he said without any ill intent, but as he said those words, he felt a hint of sadness in Lilith's voice as he thanked him.
'Friend... I see... I am your friend.' He knew she didn't mean it in any bad way, but realizing she didn't want his friendship did hurt him at least a little, however, when he looked at her Status, he was more surprised, as more information showed up.
'Lilith... There's a lot more about you now I have access to, I think you should read this with me,' he said, as he looked attently at the words that appeared to him, written in fire. However, this time, the fire had a strange color, almost purplish, a color he'd never seen before in any of the status pages.
'.... This is, important,' she said, as she heard him read the contents of her status to her.
