Mage Manual-Chapter 1411 - 1034: Unreasonable and Double Standards
Secrets are fascinating vortices.
Every operator who meets Ash invariably thinks he’s an enigmatic bad guy.
After all, Ash possesses mysterious trump cards, is suspected of being a resurgent ancient soul, and has intricate ties with the Gods of Four Pillars—he’s practically a deluxe edition of the Ghost Prophet!
At the beginning of being pulled into the team, the Sword Maiden Witch and Silver Lamp all had a sense of expectant deviation, always feeling like they joined an evil organization hidden beneath the secular world. The Observer taking them to grow stronger seemed just a preliminary investment, preparing to upend the world for the future. When they expose themselves to the public, they will sound the horn of war, seize control of nations, destroy the pillars of the world, clash with armies, confront the Divine Lord, and covet the ultimate power...
Come to think of it, the major things an evil organization should do, they seem to have done them all.
However, as their relationships deepened, they completely demystified Ash. They clearly realized that Ash... truly is an evil bad guy!
His evil lies in recruiting them into the team not for power, but for... them!
Although Ash would surely bet that he initially had no impure thoughts, and if one had to be serious, except for the Sword Maiden who indeed grew closer to him in the Void Realm, the Witch and Silver Lamp bonded with him for practical reasons. As for Vishi, she didn’t even have a level 4 bond and almost held back the team during the Demigod promotion. So, apart from the Sword Maiden, no one can accuse Ash of ulterior motives for teaming up with the female mages.
Ash might feel aggrieved, as he’s not a fool who can’t tell priorities. He’d certainly prefer a trustworthy, mutually improving companion team over a scheming group constantly thinking about how to kick others out.
Not until he realized he liked the Sword Maiden did he entertain fantasies of secretly dating her in reality while maintaining a normal comrade relationship in the Void Realm, keeping the team’s atmosphere unaffected.
But no one in this world will stop for you. While you’re content with the status quo, everyone else is striving for progress. Let’s not mention letting Vishi be a content prisoner bound by chains; there’s no way she’d be content with that.
Although Ash’s "bad guy" attribute gradually became "bad guy destined for the trash heap," the tag "enigmatic" never really came off in the operators’ hearts.
Leaving aside how he always crashes into all sorts of legendary events, can conjure up a plethora of extraordinary resources, and how he shared Void Wings with four operators during the Demigod promotion ceremony, the mere fact that he can team with the operators to log into the Void Realm (and mandatorily so) signifies that he harbors unfathomably vast secrets.
When Sonia was less knowledgeable, she thought only a Legendary Mage could perform such Miracles. But now, as she has reached the Demigod Rank, Ash’s maneuvers still appear as enigmatic as ever, like how a layperson finds something impressive while the insider sees how extraordinary it is.
The others feel the same, including Vishi.
Compared to the visible ’Soul Dominator’ ruby chain, Ash’s behavior of forcibly summoning her into the Void Realm from afar is actually more subversive of the Ghost Prophet’s worldview.
You seizing the Heavenly Kingdom of Souls is understandable, especially with Silver Lamp’s help;
You seizing the Supreme Holy Grail is understandable, especially with Firefly’s Elegant Princess assisting you;
Having Silver Lamp and Firefly’s Elegant Princess assist you is also understandable, as you once put your life on the line;
But how can you team up with others!
All the mages in the world are playing single-player games, and only you can team up with female mages for multiplayer! Even if you’re a long-lost illegitimate child of the Void Realm, isn’t that a bit too much!
Now they vaguely realize that Ash is about to confess his most precious secret to them.
Almost simultaneously, the Sword Maiden, Witch, Silver Lamp, and Vishi moved a step closer to Felix and Dedarose, subtly forming a circle around them. Silver Lamp and Vishi are self-explanatory, while the Sword Maiden Witch, although hesitant, will not hesitate when it’s time to be ruthless.
Felix turned pale, while Dedarose remained as calm as a placid lake.
However, Ash waved his hand and sat down at a nearby wooden table. The operators were a bit confused but also sat down, naturally leaving Felix and Dedarose to stay as well.
"Did you see... the future me?"
Sonia propped her chin up, curiously asking, "How many years in the future? Am I still pretty?"
"Did you see the future me?" Diya clenched her little pink fists, almost standing on the table, "Will I become more mature and sexy in the future!?"
Are you focusing on the right things... Ash asked, "Don’t you think I’m crazy now?"
Everyone exchanged glances, and Sonia stepped on Ash’s toe under the table: "We all know what you did with Vishi last night."
Ash was stunned, then promptly reacted: "Gospel Divine Being?"
Not to mention a tent, even if Ash laid down a Miracle Barrier, it couldn’t prevent Gospel’s power from infiltrating. Although the Witch hadn’t gathered the fifth Void Wing nor driven a Divine Being’s Source Power, she was indeed using Nabistin’s Legendary Mage battery to drive a Divine Being. Now, she’s no longer threatened by the Gospel Divine Being and can nourish it in the Magic Temple. As long as the Witch wishes, the entire world is transparent to her.
