Magus Supremacy-Chapter 371: Climb back home!
Chapter 371: Climb back home!
Chapter 371
Hhhhhuhhhh!
Hhhhhuhhhh!
Hhhhhhhuhhhh!
The sound of heavy breathing filled the alleyway. Grey could be seen on his knees, bloodied and tired.
The man he had been fighting against sprawled on the ground, unconscious—and so were the other men surrounding them.
’What was that?’ Grey thought as he stared down at his hands, remembering the last part of the fight. ’It felt like a gust of wind shot out of my hands. Is that... Ki? Wait, I didn’t even train in Ki, so how can I use it? freёnovelkiss.com
So what was that? The power... the wind that shot out of my hands. Was that a one-time thing or what?’
"Brother Grey," Millie softly called out as she walked over, a slight limp in her step.
Hearing his name, Grey quickly glanced up and saw the little girl limping toward him.
"Millie! Are you okay?" Grey asked as he quickly stood up, rushing toward her and pulling her into a tight hug. "Thank you."
"Thank you? For what?" Millie asked, hugging Grey back.
"For telling me what to do earlier. You made me remember how to use your technique from before," Grey said, a proud smile stretching across his tired face.
"Huh? When did I teach you the Triple Threat Technique?" Millie asked with a raised eyebrow. That was when Grey slowly disengaged from the hug, wearing a confused expression.
"You weren’t the one?" Grey asked, watching as Millie shook her head.
"Wait, then who was that?"
"That would be me," Vanessa’s voice rang out as she slowly stirred, causing the duo to glance in her direction.
"Sister!" Millie shouted as she bolted forward to hug Vanessa tightly.
"Ah—ow, Millie! I’m still hurt," Vanessa cried out in pain, and Millie quickly let go, stepping back with moist eyes.
"I’m sorry. Millie is sorry," Millie mumbled, biting her lip.
"It’s okay, cutie." Vanessa smiled softly as she pinched Millie’s cheeks.
"You taught me how to use the Triple Threat Technique?" Grey asked, limping forward with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes! Any problem?" Vanessa asked back, mirroring his expression with one of her own.
"No, nothing," Grey replied, shaking his head.
"I’m even surprised at how fast you were able to do the technique. It usually takes months for people to perfect their legwork and all that. And you did it in minutes. You must be a genius or something," Vanessa chuckled as she weakly pushed herself off the ground, still favoring her wounds.
’If Vanessa was the one who mentored me, why did I feel like the voice came from my mind? Like something spoke directly to me, cautioning and guiding my movements,’ Grey thought, a small frown creeping onto his face.
"I think we should leave here before they all wake up and another fight erupts," Vanessa suggested, glancing around as she twisted and turned, noticing some of the men wincing in pain as if slowly regaining consciousness.
"That’s right. We’ve been here for so long. Brother Finral must still be fighting with that bad uncle. Let’s go get Dad now before something bad happens," Millie added, her voice urgent. Vanessa nodded along.
"Let’s go," Grey said as he grabbed Millie’s hand. Together, the trio trotted out of the alleyway with all the speed they could muster, leaving the unconscious and injured men behind.

Ten Minutes Later
The trio could be seen crossing through the forest at full speed. Leaves rustled in their wake as they weaved between trees and hopped over fallen branches.
Grey huffed and puffed in exhaustion, eventually drawing the girls to a halt. He placed his hands on his knees, his entire body trembling as he tried to catch his breath.
"Come on, Brother Grey, we’re almost home!" Millie urged, voice laced with worry and impatience.
"I... I... I... can’t... can’t run anymore..." Grey winced through heavy breaths, his chest heaving in and out as sweat dripped down his face. His legs felt like lead.
"You really need to work on your legs and body soon," Vanessa said with a shake of her head. Her tone was somewhere between teasing and serious as she stared at Grey’s frail form—his clothes stuck to his skin, drenched in sweat and smeared with blood.
"But considering what you just did back there," she added quietly under her breath, so only she could hear, "you might just be stronger than you look."
"Not... not my fault that I’m not... from this continent," Grey huffed again, his voice low and raspy as he stared at Vanessa’s somewhat toned body. Her figure was moderately muscular, not bulky but clearly defined.
’It’s like everybody on this continent is muscular or something...’ he thought bitterly. His own slender frame felt out of place here.
"Come on, we need to keep pushing. Or do you want me to carry you? I would love to," Vanessa teased with a wide smile, a tinge of red shading her cheeks.
"No thanks, I’m good," Grey scoffed, standing upright. He shifted his gaze ahead, willing his aching legs to move.
With a grunt, he and the girls started running forward again, though his pace was noticeably slower.
"There. After the mountains, we’re home," Millie announced, her voice filled with relief as she pointed at the steep and towering mountains ahead.
They loomed like colossal gates, almost as if nature itself guarded their house beyond.
"Why did Yami have to build a house behind a mountain?" Grey asked, letting out a defeated sigh as he weakly facepalmed himself.
"Why are you complaining now? Didn’t we cross it when we went to the town?" Vanessa asked with a raised brow, her tone dry.
"It’s easier to climb down than climb up, you annoying girl," Grey snapped, his patience wearing thin.
"Me? Annoying? I saved your life," Vanessa shot back, eyes narrowing.
"And I’m grateful for that, but you’re beginning to piss me off now," Grey retorted, his voice sharp. Millie glanced back and forth between them, her eyes flickering every time one of them spoke.
"I’m pissing you off? I could literally leave you here and head back home now," Vanessa scowled.
"What’s stopping you?" Grey challenged.
"Her! This cute, innocent girl. She won’t let me go if I wanted to," Vanessa replied, pointing at Millie.
Millie simply raised an eyebrow, then waved her hands dismissively. "Oh, you can go if you wish to. I don’t care. Brother Grey is with me, so you can hurry along," Millie smiled cheekily, her tone as innocent as it was sly.
"Tsk! Betrayal," Vanessa scoffed, folding her arms across her chest with a dramatic huff.
Grey shook his head slowly, a tired smile tugging at the corner of his lips despite himself. The banter, as annoying as it was, made things feel a little lighter.
"Anyway, let’s get back now. We need to get Dad to save Finral," Millie urged, her expression becoming serious again.
Grey exhaled slowly, staring up at the daunting mountain before them. His legs already felt like they’d been filled with lead.
"Fine. Let’s go," Grey muttered as he took Millie’s hand firmly. With determination, he began the arduous climb up the mountain, each step sending fresh jolts of pain through his body. His muscles screamed, and every pull upward felt heavier than the last.
"I wonder who died and made a weakling like you the leader. The only thing you’re good for is your face," Vanessa scoffed, following after them. Despite her words, her voice held a note of teasing rather than real venom.
Unlike Grey, Vanessa climbed much easier, using Ki subtly to enhance her movements. Her injuries still slowed her down, but even then, she made it look like a casual stroll compared to Grey’s painful climb.
Grey clenched his jaw and ignored her, focusing on placing one foot in front of the other.
"I swear... once we get home, I’m not moving for a week..." he muttered under his breath, voice low enough that only Millie caught it.
Millie giggled softly, her small hand squeezing his reassuringly as they pressed on.
