Malevolent Warlock: Sin Of Eternity-Chapter 81: Tempering Event
"This looks very nice" with a wide smile on his face Leon commented while casually walking around the top floor of Badur’s Gate.
This place now looked completely different from what it use to. It was once a dark grimy cave with little to no light and had rusty Chains on the walls.
But now, all of a sudden it had changed and became Aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, after Merging with the ss grade pagoda the top of the mountain morphed into a castle like halll with a pointed roof.
The floors were tiled with strong and beautiful materials, the walls were clean as if newly painted, and even though it was still as empty as ever it looked very nice.
"I like this more" Leon thought to himself, this was his first time devouring a treasure like this, he couldn’t help but wonder how much better Badur’s Gate would become if he continued absorbing treasures of this grade.
"Argggg" While Leon was inspecting his new and improved badurs gate a pained voice sounded at a particular corner of the hall.
"Oh, shit. I totally forgot about you" Leon turned around and scratched his head. A small distance from the pit a chubby man with dishevelled hair could be seen chained up to the wall in front of him.
He looked like he had be thrown around in a mixing for hours as his body was stained by dust and his clothes were torn up. This was a result of Badur’s gates ’renovation’.
"Please let me go....." The man pleaded with a look of exhaustion boldly painted on his face.
One minute he was minding his business in the undercity, the next a lady in a faceless mask appeared and kidnapped him. He couldn’t even scream of struggle, it felt unreal. He was in the heart of the warlocks stronghold the undercity, but he was still kidnapped. Was there nowhere save for warlock?
"Ah? But we aren’t done yet though" Leon tilted his head and said. This guy was here because Leon needed to study him. Just knowing what it takes to get to level 2 wasn’t enough, he had to feel the difference. And there was no other way than through constantly struggling with a level 2 warlock.
"Just let me go!!!!" After a brief pause. The warlock became incensed and released a shock wave of energy barrelling Leon’s way.
Just as the blast of energy came barrelling towards Leon. He also released his own Burst of energy attempting to match the level 2 warlock infront of him.
—Boom!!
And surprisingly, Leon was able to put up a good amount of resistance, with him stepping into the peak of level 1 Leon’s control over life energy became impeccable. Unlike before when he needed to force energy out to form spells, now it felt like all he needed was to activate it and mana would naturally floak towards him.
But, even with that, the difference between a level 1 warlock and a level 2 warlock was still a large gap to cross.
"Hmp!!" The warlock sneered and added pressure to his blast
—boom!!
And almost immediately Leon was sent flying backwards....
—bang
And he was thrown through the air and collided with the opposite side of the hall.
"Cough!!" The impact was immense for Leon’s body. Forcing him to fly uncontrollablely backwards, But even with that he managed to stop himself from vomiting blood.
"Arg" Leon groaned in pain before lifting himself up slowly. He had been thrown back a couple of times throughout the past few days. It was nothing new to him.
Deep down he knew that Bridging the gap between a level 1 warlock and a level 2 warlock probably not possible. What he wanted was to do was understand what made them different.
And so he continued with his "training" minute after minute hours after hour. Leon started improving...
A few more days later.
Several men and women with faceless masks could be seen standing in groups in front of Duan city’s city walls.
"What’s taking so long?" Next to a young man with white hair, a young fiery teen complained. They had been standing here for more that 5 hours and nothing happened, there were no officials of the company to instruct them and their instructors were acting like they didn’t even know them at the back.

It was very frustrating.
"You need to learn how to exercise patience" Beside her, the young man with white hair adviced. There was no one here complaining aside her, it was drawing too much attention, and he didn’t like it.
"Hmp!! Don’t talk down to me, I’m also at the peak of level 1, you’re not anything special!!" The fiery young lady retorted with clear rage in her eyes.
"Hehe, troublesome little brat" this young man was of course Leon and the little lady was Ember, Half-moon’s daughter. Early today he had met her with Darknorth and other members of their faction.
He was shocked to see that the girl had broken through to the peak of level 1 just like him. This was not an easy task, She was truly a talent he couldn’t deny.
Of course, he didn’t know that the actual reason for this was because of him. She saw Leon going toe to toe with a level 2 warlock even though he was at level 1 beginner stage. It made her feel small so she decided to work hard to match him.
She toiled day and night and with the help of her father Half-moon she finally broke through, however, when she met Leon today he was already at the same stage as she was. Additionally, He didn’t break past just one stage, he leapt throught two.
It was unbelievable.
All her efforts were dawfed by Leon in a second. Why wouldn’t she be pissed? He was showing her up, it was frustrating.

While Ember was thinking of how to respond to Leon
The sound of horses and carriages riding down the streets resounded all of a sudden. To their left, and to their right, Several carriges made their way towards the groups with frightening speed.
These carriges had a flag, and on each the insignia of the faceless mercenary company was boldly displayed. They were here for the tempering event.
"Board!!!!" As the carriges made their way forward A middle aged man At the very top of a carrige in the lead shouted, while his carrige made its way forward without stopping.
"Shit!!" Noticing what just happened, the new recruits cursed. The carriage weren’t waiting for them. They expected the new recruits to chase after them and board by themselves.
This was survival of the fittest.
"Hmm, let’s go" Leon grabbed Ember by her dress and placed her on his shoulder before sprinting forward..... shocked by this action Ember was going to complain....
But seeing the speed Leon was going at she couldn’t help but freeze in absolute shock. In but a few seconds Leon was ability to run past all the other recruits and jump onto the back of the carrige at the front.
It happened in the blink of an eye so most of the recruits could only remember a flash or breeze passing by them.....but the instructors saw everything happening from the very back.
"This guy....." Darknorth couldn’t help but chuckle. Leon’s surprising leap from beginner to the peak of level 1 had his mouth opened in surprise....he couldn’t wrap his head around how that happened, one would need monstrous comprehension to achieve this in so little time.
Of course, he didn’t account for the fact that Leon was a warlock and things like comprehension wasn’t as important for them at this stage.
"Move out!!!"
The carriages soon made a straight line and went straight out of the city gates. The tempering event would not hold inside of duan city.
They first moved through the gate then through the expanse of grassland surrounding the city walls before finally entering the forest.
The faceless mercenary company was always vailed in secret and even if they wanted to they couldn’t do their tempering event in the city area.
They had to go somewhere secretive. And to that effect. Leon and the rest were blindfolded as the carriges fared them from the forest area to a secret mountainous region.
The path was hidden and up until their blindfolded were removed, they didn’t know that they had left, at least most of them didn’t.
Leon had the system map out the region they were going through from the very beginning. He wouldn’t place his life in the hands of a secretive organisation like the faceless mercenary company.
"We’re here!!! Everyone get down immediately" Leon and the other recruits were ordered down and unblindfolded by the officials.
In front of them was a massive mountainous region with about a thousand cave openings all over. This was the place the tempering event would hold.
