Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 395: I Like That You Have a Bad Temper
Chapter 395: I Like That You Have a Bad Temper
Selina’s words dropped like a bomb. Silence fell across the room.
Anyone who knew the Reid Family’s scandals had nothing to say.
Every line from Selina hit Reid Madam’s sore spots: raising a child that wasn’t hers, getting no gratitude, and in the end, having her real son clean up the mess.
Amelia was seething—but she couldn’t speak the truth out loud: Owen is my real son! Logan is the outsider!
Damn it!
Logan broke the silence. "Dr. Lewis, there are still a few hours before dawn. Why don’t you and the others rest here at Pear Blossom Estate tonight? Head back in the morning."
A chill crept up Amelia’s spine—she had a bad feeling about this.
Sure enough, Dr. Lewis nodded.
"Thank you, Mr. Reid, You are so kind. On the contrary, certain people are only good at scheming. Small-minded, full of dirty tricks."
Amelia nearly passed out from rage. As if she couldn’t hear that jab? But the worst part—it came from a top doctor in the Medical Association.
She knew the smartest move now would be to have Owen apologize to Logan. But—why should they?!
Logan was that woman’s child. He should’ve died when he was abandoned all those years ago. Why did he have to come back—just like Anna? He ruined everything. He shattered the fragile balance of the Reid Family!
Selina, feigning obliviousness, clapped her hands. "Alright, the truth’s out. It’s almost 4 a.m. Owen’s about to enjoy a little vacation at the police station. Everyone get some sleep—we’ve got a bright future ahead."
Owen’s knees buckled.
No. It was supposed to be Logan going to jail. How did the tables turn? What would people say about him?
Amelia clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white. She took a deep breath through gritted teeth. "This is a family matter. Logan, as your mother, I’ll apologize on Owen’s behalf."
Saying those words felt like swallowing glass. Her face flushed pale, then red, then back again.
Logan’s gaze was cold, but his lips curled into a serene, unreadable smile. If you didn’t know better, you’d think he was the picture of grace. "No harm done."
Selina went full drama queen. "Logan’s just like that. So understanding. Even after Owen caused trouble, tried to poison him, and framed him—Logan wouldn’t hold a grudge."
Murmurs rippled through the crowd.
"How could Owen be the legitimate heir of the Reed family? Anna’s son? What a joke."
"That boy’s a stray. Amelia’s the only one blind enough to mistake him for royalty."
Owen nearly blacked out, shaking with rage as he glared at Logan.
Kind? Generous?
That was all an act. Logan was a venomous snake under that calm mask. A total fraud. And yet everyone believed him.
He’s the victim—but I’m the one apologizing? He wanted to scream.
Then it hit him. Logan drank the porridge last night—so why didn’t the Foster Family poison kick in?!
Selina strolled up beside him, tone casual. "Don’t look so upset, Owen. You’ve got a whole weeklong police stay coming. If you’re already this mad, how will you survive?"
Then, leaning in close, she whispered, "Oh, and Owen—is it bugging you? Why Logan drank the poisoned porridge but didn’t react? Wondering if the Foster Family’s stuff was faulty?"
Owen’s eyes widened. "You—"
Selina smiled. "Let me spell it out: I had the antidote. That’s why Logan’s fine."
She stepped back slowly, her eyes glinting.
"Now, Owen... did it ever occur to you—maybe you’re the one who got poisoned?"
"You!"
In a flash of clarity, Owen suddenly understood everything.
The poison from the Foster Family wasn’t meant to kill—it was meant to control. To cloud someone’s mind just long enough to make them do what they were told. The original plan was simple: drug Logan, make him willingly hand over the rights to Pear Blossom Estate.
But Selina had the antidote. Logan was never affected.
Instead, she turned the tables—making him inhale that same poison without even realizing it.
That’s why he’d lost control in the middle of the night. That’s why he’d tried to poison Logan without even realizing it. It was all a trap—Selina’s trap—and they’d walked right into it.
Just then, the officers stepped forward. "Mr. Owen, please come with us."
Thinking he finally had it all figured out, Owen lunged forward, shrieking like a madman.
"It was Selina! I didn’t poison anyone—Selina made me do it! It was her! She confessed!"
The two officers exchanged a look.
They’d seen this kind of thing before—criminals panicking, desperately trying to drag someone else down with them. Nothing new.
Without a word, they dragged Owen to the squad car.
"I swear it wasn’t me! Selina poisoned me, she controlled me, that’s the only reason I— Why won’t anyone believe me?!"
As the car pulled away, Selina sighed, turning to Logan.
"Logan, thank God you didn’t grow up with him. I’d be terrified he’d pass his stupidity on to you."
Dr. Lewis couldn’t help but laugh.
"Controlled by Mrs. Reid? That’s his excuse? What’s next—aliens made him do it?"
Others nearby chimed in with scorn.
"Poisoning, framing, refusing to admit guilt—even when all the evidence is against him—and still trying to pin it on someone else. Is this what Reid Family values look like?"
"Madam Reid," someone added with mock sympathy, "I don’t even know what to say to you. Look at your precious adopted son... then look at your real one. I’m honestly starting to wonder if Mr. Logan is even yours."
"Exactly. With a mother like you, how’d Logan turn out so well? I say Owen’s your real kid—a perfect match, one dumb, one malicious."
Amelia’s face contorted with rage. Her eyes rolled back—and she fainted.
...
Owen spent seven full days in lockup before finally making bail.
Selina, still fuming, muttered, "They tried to steal Anna’s inheritance and frame you for it. One scheme, two goals. And you only let Owen sit in jail for a week? Logan, You have such a good temper."
Jack, who overheard, stopped dead in his tracks.
Did she just say Logan has a good temper?!
Logan paused mid-step. "Not really. I’ve got a bad temper."
Jack turned back, stunned.
Was this... how people flirted these days?
Logan added casually, "I don’t hold grudges. Mostly because I settle them on the spot. That night, though..."
He glanced sideways and smiled faintly. "Didn’t need to. Mrs. Reid handled it for me. Thanks, sweetheart."
Selina blushed. "Don’t mention it. I’ve got your back. I like your bad temper. People wrong you? Hit them back."
Logan’s smile deepened. "Mm."
Jack stood there, dazed.
Is this... the modern love language? Vengeance and teamwork?
Just then, a message popped up on his phone.
Perry Family was trying to repair Owen’s public image. Word had it they were preparing to redistribute Anna’s inheritance—to her so-called "biological son."
Before Selina could explode at their shamelessness, someone came stumbling toward them in a panic...
