Chapter 190: Deeds and plans

"Please tell me that everything you and mother were saying isn’t true." Mirabella sat on the throne’s stairwell, rubbing her red, swollen affected cheek slowly, and Isabella sat next to her, tears in her eyes as she begged eagerly.

"From the slapping and screaming, you should know that it’s all true, lady Isabella," Stefan said calmly as he stood in front of Charlotte, who was seated on a small chair, frowning deeply.

"I didn’t expect this to be my morning." Mirabella grumbled and winced as she rubbed her cheek too hard, then sighed frustratedly and looked at Isabella, who was still trying to comprehend what was going on.

"So... mother and father conspired to starve Cyrus to death, and all those threats, attacks, and near-death experiences he’d always faced... mother was involved?" Isabella inquired, her voice trembling.

Mirabella sighed and took her sister’s hand in hers, but she jerked away and stood up. "How did you find out about all of this? Why am I so blind?! How am I supposed to believe that my mother is..." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"Enough, Isabella. Stop acting as if you have never been crushed by someone close to you before." Stefan cut in casually, and she took a deep breath, frustratedly stomping her feet on the ground.

"Cyrus isn’t aware of all of this; otherwise, he would have murdered us and our other relatives!" She screamed and raked her fingers through her hair.

"Which is why, in order to avoid further pain, what happened in the throne room today will remain in the throne room." Stefan sighed and averted his gaze from Charlotte, who was now staring at him. He was certain there was more to her and wanted to know what she had been up to recently. Hearing all of her previous deeds, a woman like her could never stop until she got what she wanted.

"Are you collaborating with Esteban?" He inquired, intrigued.

"And why would I reveal anything to you?" Charlotte inquired, then scoffed in disbelief.

"I have no choice but to take her to the dungeon, my ladies," Stefan said calmly to the ladies behind him, but his stare at Charlotte was chilling. His purple reptile eyes widened and glinted darkly.

"Y.. you don’t frighten me, Stefan Adrelean." Charlotte stumbled, but her voice hardened, eliciting a deep cold chuckle from Stefan.

Mirabella and Isabella, who heard this, had their eyes widened, and Mirabella stood up.

"I am half fire dragon, half wind mage duchess Charlotte, and I am far more powerful than you." He whispered to everyone’s ears before slamming his hand on her forehead, sending a powerful force into her head and eliciting a loud scream of pain from her.

"What?! What are you doing?!" Isabella screamed at Stefan, distressed by what she was witnessing. Her mother’s scream grew louder, and tears streamed down her cheeks. "Put a stop to it!" She wanted to approach Stefan, but Mirabella stopped her, closing her eyes with her hands and hugging her tightly to make her look away.

"Don’t worry, Isa; everything will be fine." Mirabella tried to soothe her sister by whispering soothingly.

Stefan then removed his hand from Charlotte’s brow, and she immediately stopped screaming. Stefan smirked, stood up straight, and put his hands in his pockets, her eyes wide open with terror.

She blinked quickly, but then screamed again. "I can’t see anything! What did you do to me?!"

"What?!" Mirabella was taken aback.

Stefan returned his gaze to their emerald form and nodded slightly. "I made her blind." He spoke flatly and turned back to Charlotte, who screamed even louder at the news. "Unfortunately, only for the time being." He continued, walking past Charlotte and out of the throne room.

Charlotte began to panic and fell off the chair, bursting into tears.

Mirabella watched her mother’s agony, her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to keep her sister in her embrace. "You deserve this mother, and even more." She murmured, a forced smile stretching across her gleaming pink lips.

...

Stefan returned to his room with a neutral expression on his face, but as soon as he slammed the door behind him, he began heaving for air and shakily relaxed his back.

He hadn’t used his abilities in a long time. His mother had forbidden him from using his powers, even though she had spent time teaching him spells and skills. She told him that using his powers would only amplify his dark heart.

"Dark heart... black heart... at this rate, I really want to die." He groaned in pain as he walked away from the bed and towards the bed, which he immediately plopped on.

He groaned once more and closed his eyes. "I have rendered lord Stefan speechless." In his head, Ashton’s voice echoed. Stefan jumped off the bed, blinking rapidly in shock, because it was nothing more than a memory.

"That demon must be aware of Duchess Charlotte’s actions!" He exclaimed, then thoughtfully caressed his chin.

A knock came on his door suddenly. "Please come in." He said this, and the door flew open, revealing Mirabella, who dashed towards him and grabbed him by the collar. Her yellow reptilian eyes widened.

"You have abilities?" He nodded slowly as she yelled.

"I am also going to Leimpia to look for Ashton."

"What?" Mirabella asked, perplexed, and slowly let go of his collars. "Why?" she inquired.

"Because there is no doubt that he is aware of Duchess Charlotte’s actions, which implies that he is also aware of her plans. I need to find out about those plans because I know my sister is involved." Stefan responded right away.

"He... he is aware of her deeds, but knowing how cunning he is, he must also be aware of her plans, which he is concealing from everyone, including Cyrus." Stefan nodded slowly as Mirabella spoke slowly.

"Very well, then, the castle’s affairs are now in your hands." With a bright smile, he told her.

"My mother has been placed in the dungeon," Mirabella sighed.

Stefan felt sorry for her, knowing that no matter what happened, Charlotte was her mother, the one who gave birth to and raised her.

"However, if I discover she intends to harm my sister, I will kill her." Stefan stated coolly.

Mirabella laughed. "Say hello to the foolish demon for me." She then turned away and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Stefan’s pupils constrict. "Perhaps I will,"
