Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 222: Irking god
Sage felt a little relieved that the pain was lessening despite her blurry vision. As she saw Cyrus break the seal on Anghel in his normal state, she struggled to breathe. Although she didn’t have faith in the god, she was aware that he was able to protect Cyrus.
Cyrus’ eyes, which were ice blue, met hers and he smiled.
Sage’s eyes welled with tears as her hurting heart clenched in pain. "Cyrus... " She was struggling to find her voice.
’Snowflake is perfectly fine now, my love,’ he said through their mind link, his gaze fixed on her.
"N.. no.. stay here. She begged, her eyes streaming with tears.
’You’re going to bring me back, aren’t you?’
"I feel confused!" Sage cried out.
’I apologize... I am very sorry, but don’t worry, he will protect you in the meantime.’
"What if I don’t make it?"
"You certainly will." Sage couldn’t stop her tears from falling as Cyrus smiled sweetly, showing off his adorable dimples. Even though his beautiful smile reached his eyes, she could see pain in his eyes and feel his worry. "I love you."
He let go of Anghel and was engulfed in a bright glow once more.
"Cyrus!" Sage exclaimed.
She cried out in agony as soon as she felt the intense, raw pain in her heart.
Cyrus returned back to his dark state immediately the glow faded and in shock, he rushed to Sage, carried her into his arms and stared at her as she buried her face his chest.
"I am sorry." He whispered breathlessly.
"Do.. do not apologize..." Sage found her voice but it came out strained.
Cyrus let out a sigh as he felt the pain decrease but it was too much pain for her and she needed time to recover.
"You did it!" Anghel exclaimed excitedly as he got to his feet.
Cyrus eyes sharpened and he immediately turned his gaze to the god who was getting on his nerves.
Anghel’s smile wavered as he stretched, and he moaned when he felt severe pain in his hand, which now only had three fingers.
"Oh, don’t worry, I will pay attention to you. The queen has grown on me; she is adorable and oddly intimidating."
"If you follow us, this time, your arms will be the ones missing." Cyrus words came out cold.
"Psh! Although you resemble your father, my rebellious sister comes to mind when I see you because of your extraordinary beauty. Anghel kept talking while giving Cyrus, who couldn’t care less about him, a glare.
"Snow.." Cyrus addressed the nine-tailed fox, who was standing in front of him and giving the god a diabolical glare.
Suddenly frowning, Anghel moved away while waving his arms. "Get that pest out of my sight."
"Why? Although he finds you to be very tasty, he appears to want your livers the most."
The nine-tailed fox came into sharp focus in Anghel’s eyes. "You created the soul shield well. I applaud you for doing that."
Anghel laughed in complete disbelief as Snowflake narrowed his eyes in the direction of the god before disappearing from view. "That impolite rat!"
"Do you wish to depart, my love?" Cyrus questioned Sage while continuing to stare homicidally at Anghel.
"Let’s bring him along. I’d like to learn more about Statkus mages and their connections to the gods." Cyrus twitched his lips as Sage muttered.
"Fine." Cyrus spoke quietly and appeared next to Anghel, who was staring at him.
"You are allowing her to control you. How unusually amusing." He chuckled sarcastically.
Cyrus was about to punch his skull, but before he could raise his hand carrying Sage, he felt her tug his shirt and whisper, "Don’t." And he let out an exasperated sigh, immediately controlling himself.
...
Stefan appeared anxious as he prepared to leave the mansion when River and Arthur, who were standing in front of it with neutral expressions, arrived.
"Lord Stefan, what is the matter?" River brow-lifted.
"Sage has vanished." Stefan answered in a low voice.
"That explains why, when we entered the city, his majesty suddenly disappeared from our midst." With his eyes wide in disbelief, Arthur gasped.
Stefan clenched his fists. "Then, she must be in danger." He passed them as he descended the stairs.
"Why go when he will deliver her from whatever peril she has placed herself in?" Stefan stopped walking when River asked with a scoff.
"Do you mean she’s the one putting herself in danger?" Stefan asked, scoffing in disbelief, as he and River turned to face each other. "Tell me you are kidding, prince River of Fireria; all you’re to Cyrus Dragos is his desperate lapdog." Without a hint of regret, Stefan growled in his deep voice.
River tsked incredulously as his eyes changed into a golden reptile shape. "You are nothing more than a mindless pest who will perish at my hands," he continued. "You are a dragon with a dark heart, after all."
"I am, but Cyrus Dragos is a dangerous threat with three souls who shouldn’t ever exist, but you didn’t kill him, so why me? Stefan cocked his brow and grinned heartily.
"Because all you know is to spew nonsense," River grewled and moved quickly in front of Stefan. "You have no idea what you are talking about, and despite how much you despise Cyrus, you won’t be able to harm me because, don’t you love your sister?"
Stefan clenched his teeth and fixed his gaze on the golden dragon’s enraged eyes. "Stop talking!"
River nodded while grinning. "So bothersome." His hazel gray body caught his eyes once more. "Stay away from me," he said. He then walked back to the stairs next to Arthur.
"Lord Stefan! Lord Stefan!" Suddenly, the sound of Katherine’s voice was close and reverberated with joy.
River raised an eyebrow and felt his heart tighten with resentment as he pondered why she was joyfully calling the name of another man.
She approached him, her eyes wide at his side, and he saw her smile disappear before it appeared once more.
"Sage has returned to the mansion! I can sense her energy."
A furious-looking Ashton emerged behind her at that precise moment. "I can also sense the energy of the most obnoxious creature on the planet."
"Exaggerating much?" Everyone present turned to look at the ethereal man standing on the last step of the stairs staring at his three fingered hand when a deep voice suddenly boomed with full displeasure. The man had ice blue hair and eyes as white as snow. He was covered in blood, which caused Ashton to smirk in amusement.
"Identify yourself." The first to inquire, Arthur immediately drew his sword from its sheath.
"The individual who will seize your arm." The being answered directly.
"That looks like an attack from Snow." River furrowed his brow.
"My fingers were eaten by that rat!" The being thundered in full displeasure.
"Cyrus broke your seal. How unexpected." Ashton began by laughing heartily before approaching the god.
Stefan fixed his attention on the demon, who was grinning broadly. Why was he grinning so broadly? Jealousy squished Stefan’s face. Was it the fact that the man was simply too attractive?
"It is unexpected. I was also brought here by him." As he approached the being, Ashton grinned wider and the being laughed.
"What is a selfish god like you doing here? Anghel," When he mentioned the name of the god in front of him, Ashton’s smile faded and his tone changed to one of threat.
Anghel turned his attention to the demon. "Like father, like son." He hissed and smiled at the same time. "I will eventually protect the king. So says the mages’ queen."
"Sage?" Katherine’s eyes widened, and Anghel turned to face her.
"Is that a god?" Arthur asked, completely perplexed.
"Ice deity." River sighed deeply, not knowing anything about Anghel.
"Is there another half-mage here?" Anghel abruptly asked, turning to face Stefan. "Those eyes... The queen’s brother?"
"You can tell they are related just by looking at his eyes?" Rolling his eyes, Ashton inquired.
"Shhh. You are starting to talk too much, Ashton Petrov," Anghel reprimanded, turning to face him.
Cyrus appeared out of nowhere, behind Anghel and in front of Stefan. "Enter the mansion, and a maid will lead you to your room." Cyrus’ expression and voice were both cold.
"Who are you to command me?" Anghel scoffed and turned to face the ice dragon, who wasn’t in the mood for anything or anyone bothering him.
"Obey or you will be killed by me." Cyrus spoke in a matter-of-fact tone.
"You have no idea who you’re messing with, Cyrus Dragos." Anghel laughed deeply and moved closer to Cyrus, whose blue slit eyes were red with rage. "Unlike you, I am a full god, an immortal."
"You’re the one who talks too much." Ashton shook his head and tsked.
Anghel smiled, which irritated Cyrus to no end. "I will not take orders from you, but only from your wife."
