Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 223: The chief warriors
The temperature dropped dramatically, and a full-fledged raging cold wind began to build around the mansion, making everyone present feel as if they would freeze to death.
The god’s reckless words had enraged the ice dragon.
Cyrus punched Anghel in the forehead, causing a bloody crack, and the god screamed as the impact of the punch pushed him out of his standing position, landing far behind Stefan, on his back.
Ashton’s eyes sparkled with excitement, while the others were stunned, with the exception of River, who sighed and shook his head.
"I predicted this."
Katherine gave him a hesitant smile. "Are you okay?" She asked, but he only nodded, while she furrowed her brows noticing something was off.
Cyrus vanished and reappeared next to Anghel, his feet on Anghel’s bleeding forehead, his eyes fierce, murder intent emanating from him like an unstoppable force.
"Keep my wife out of your mouth." Cyrus hissed, putting more pressure on Anghel’s head. If it had been someone weaker, his or her head would have been crushed and they would not have been able to withstand the impact of that punch. "I will torture you to the point where you will beg death to come and visit you."
Cyrus increased his pressure on Anghel’s head, causing him to scream in agony.
Everyone was staring unblinkingly, but the demon was having a good time.
Reagan arrived on the scene with two warriors behind him, and ignoring the situation, he took a deep breath as he was affected by that unusual drop of weather.
He reported, "Your Majesty, the chief warriors are present."
"Go to Sage." River immediately informed Katherine, who nodded and walked away.
"Alright," Cyrus hissed, removing his feet from Anghel’s head.
The warriors behind Reagan immediately helped Anghel to his feet. Anghel’s face tightened in rage, and his face was soon covered in oozing blood from his forehead.
Ashton burst out laughing, and the warriors whisked Anghel into the mansion.
"You should not have done that." Reagan said to Cyrus, who was still oozing with murder intent.
Reagan sighed and turned away, knowing that it would take a miracle for the weather to calm down that night. If he was provoked again, he would unleash a ruthless snowstorm.
Ashton and Stefan approached the scene. "Will the warriors assist in defeating the gods?" Ashton raised an eyebrow.
"That is a stupid question." Stefan muttered and shook his head.
Ashton scoffed in disbelief, casting a glance at the Lord before crossing his arms across his chest. Was the lord still upset with him for the flirtatious kiss? It was adorable, and he couldn’t stop smiling.
"With the ice dragons gone, the shadow dragons who have been protecting Antica must assist. The fire dragons should not be trusted because Esteban can easily deceive them." Reagan stated calmly, and Stefan slowly nodded.
"Wait! How do you know the ice gods are the adversaries here?" Ashton inquired of Stefan, realizing that the lord was not supposed to know anything.
"Because Cyrus despises that ice god, and him being a half god, I just fixed everything like a puzzle." Stefan explained truthfully, and Ashton was impressed.
The sounds of galloping horses suddenly echoed throughout the mansion compound. The horses neighed loudly, and soon five horses arrived, perched on them, with powerfully beautiful men dressed in similar black cloaks with an insignia of a dragon wings spread out and a golden staff in the middle.
Cyrus sighed as the man focused his gaze on him. Four of them had solemn expressions, while the fifth had a bright teasing smile on his face and kept raising his brows.
In every group, there was always that one person who had a screw loose in his head.
Cyrus’ frown deepened, and he vanished from view.
"What is his problem?" With a scoff, the man inquired.
Reagan muttered, "Behave yourself Florin." And Florin rolled his eyes.
...
Everyone in the round table room sat and stared at Cyrus, who appeared to have a dark thundering cloud above his head, and everyone could feel the cold increase, making inside no different from outside.
"I expected you to involve all of the lords in this." The bone chilling silence was broken by Darius, the head chief warrior. "However, they must rule their parts." He came to a halt as his gaze was drawn to Stefan, who was sitting next to Ashton. "I am taken aback by the presence of the Lord of Ellisum."
"He is an uninvited guest." Cyrus finally spoke up without looking around.
"We have been protecting Antica for centuries due to Shindra’s debt to Antica; we have no regrets because you see us as equals, but about the gods who are immortals, we have no understanding." Darius spoke up again, his whitish grey eyes glimmering with concern.
"The gods wiped out the ice dragons, but you should know that not all of the ice gods are involved in this; only four of the ice goddess’s brothers who believe that Cyrus’ existence is false. They’ve been trying to get into Videnia for a long time and have even threatened to destroy some part of L..." Another chief warrior, Mihai, spoke up but was cut off by a deep laugh.
Everyone’s attention was drawn to Anghel, who now appeared to be in good health except for his missing fingers. Cyrus’ lips twitched at the sight of the god, and the temperature dropped to the point of death.
"Augh! Cyrus!" River yelled out and turned his gaze to him, feeling the intensity of the cold.
"Four ice gods want the ice dragon dead and will destroy him at any cost. But they are aware that he is not an easy prey, but rather a very powerful prey capable of killing them." Anghel shook his head and laughed. "Why do you think that he has only been a target for a long time?"
"What exactly is your point? You talk a lot." Anghel’s eyes narrowed as Ashton inquired bluntly.
"Videnia has something valuable that they want, and I honestly don’t know what it is." Anghel let out a sigh.
"Useless." Ashton laughed.
"Can you tell me what it is?" Florin inquired directly of Cyrus.
"The statkus mages are gathering on the mountain." Cyrus abruptly whispered.
"Cyrus you..." Anghel called out to Cyrus, but Cyrus cut him off with a threatening glare.
"Arthur, Stefan, go behind the mountain and protect the mages." Cyrus gave the order, and Arthur hurriedly stood up, bowing his head, while Stefan focused his gaze on the ice dragon before standing up and leaving the room with Arthur.
"How do you know that?" Darius cocked his brow.
"I cast a curse on the halfling." Cyrus’ lips twitched in response.
"Mages?" Florin chuckled and rose to his feet. "I am going as well!" He exclaimed, running out of the room after Stefan and Arthur.
"Do you know what they want in Videnia?" Anghel became agitated.
"There’s a piece of mother’s soul there." Cyrus replied flatly and stood up, his gaze fixed on Anghel. "What do they intend to do with it?" And how are they related to the statkus mages?" Cyrus questioned sternly.
Anghel froze in shock, and everyone in the room stared at him.
"Do they want the fire core as well?" Cyrus inquired vehemently. "Do you think I am stupid?! I’ve tried to kill myself several times since I returned from hell, but I can’t die! I am immortal, and only that fire core can kill me!" Cyrus screamed angrily.
All of the chief warriors except Darius stood up in shock, but Reagan and River looked more than shocked.
Anghel stared at the angry-looking ice dragon for a moment, lost in thought, before inhaling deeply and shaking his head. "How do you think your wife will react now that the Statkus mages and ice gods have formed an alliance to take her fire core, the only thing that can kill you?" Then he laughed. "But you don’t want it to kill you; you want it for something else... something even the demon doesn’t know."
Everyone froze in surprise, and Ashton facepalmed himself once more.
Cyrus clenched his teeth. "If they get that piece of mother’s shattered soul, they’ll destroy the soul containment I kept in the ancient mansion, and Antica will be destroyed." He then sighed in frustration and pushed his hair back. "They don’t just want to kill me; they want to destroy Antica and erase all trace of the ice dragon’s existence."
"Cyru.."
"Don’t you know all of this? This is what you were attempting to prevent, which is why they imprisoned you in Videnia." Cyrus abruptly cut him off, vanished from his location, and materialized in front of Anghel, gripping his neck tightly.
"Cal... relax... I will do as the mages queen instructs and protect you." Anghel suffocated.
"I don’t require your protection." Cyrus growled and huffed, then turned to face Ashton, Reagan, and the other chief warriors present.
They were all staring at him, but he seemed unconcerned.
"Didn’t you hear? Not just me and my wife, but Antica as a whole, is in danger."
"Indeed." Sage sighed loudly in front of everyone, and it was Cyrus’ turn to facepalm. Hard.
