Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 107: You’re Going to Break My Waist (Part 1)
Seeing Chloe, Ethan Sterling was a bit surprised.
He stepped into the guest room and looked around, but didn’t see Nathan’s shadow.
"Where’s Nathan?"
Chloe closed the door and casually locked it. "Ethan, I want to have a good talk with you."
Ethan realized something was off and frowned. "There’s nothing to talk about between us. If your brother isn’t here, I’ll be on my way."
Chloe reached out to stop him. "I want to talk to you about Seraphina."
Hearing Chloe mention Seraphina’s name, Ethan paused his steps.
"What do you want to say?"
"Can’t you sit down first?" Chloe smiled, "I’m not going to eat you."
Ethan hesitated for a moment, then turned and walked to the sofa to sit down.
Pouring him a cup of hot tea, Chloe smiled and handed the tea to him.
Ethan took the cup and casually placed it on the table. "What exactly do you want to say?"
"You didn’t marry Seraphina out of love." Chloe sat on the sofa opposite him, intertwining her fingers. "Is that right?"
Originally, Ethan thought Nathan had brought him here to discuss the letter.
He didn’t expect that in the end it would be Chloe waiting for him, to discuss such matters.
Ethan frowned and stood up from the chair.
"If this is what you wanted to discuss with me, then I can tell you clearly that my affairs with Seraphina are private matters—whether it’s you or your brother, I hope you both stay out of it."
"Ethan!" Chloe caught up to him, grabbing his sleeve, "This isn’t how you really feel, is it? You didn’t use to treat me this way. Why have you changed?"
Ethan frowned and turned his face, shaking off her arm.
"I’ve made it clear to you—since the day we met, I’ve always seen you as a little sister. It was that way, it is that way, and it will always be that way."
Chloe lowered her lashes, her lips trembling slightly.
"Is it because of Seraphina that you don’t like me anymore?"
"This has nothing to do with Seraphina."
"Impossible! Before Seraphina, you were never like this to me." Chloe lifted her face, her eyes glistening with tears. "Ethan, I beg you...don’t leave me, okay?"
"Chloe!" Ethan frowned, looking helpless. "How can I make you understand? My affection for you is just like Nathan’s for you—it’s not a romantic kind of love. Do you understand?"
"I don’t understand!"
Chloe stepped forward and hugged his waist.
She looked up, her eyes filled with hope as they gazed at Ethan.
"I don’t hope for anything else, just that we can go back to the way we were, like when we were in Country M. Me and you, and my brother—we went sailing, attended concerts together...always together, okay?"
"I’m sorry, Chloe."
Ethan gently pulled her arms away from him, stepping back to put some distance between them.
"You’re not a child anymore. There are things you need to learn to accept. I’m married now; I have responsibilities to Seraphina. Your brother will eventually fall in love with someone else, get married, and have his own family... The three of us can’t always be together, nor can we go back to the past."
"Do you find me a nuisance?"
"I can’t explain it to you clearly; in short...we are impossible!"
After looking at her for a moment, Ethan hardened his heart, turned around, and walked out of the hotel guest room.
Chloe helplessly crouched down, grabbing her hair with both hands.
"No, it’s not like this...it’s because of Seraphina, it’s all her fault!"
She lifted her face from behind her messy hair, slowly stood up, and clenched her fists by her sides.
"I won’t let anyone separate us, not even Seraphina!"
...
...
The next morning.
Seraphina arrived at the orchestra on time, conducting the violin section’s rehearsal in preparation for the New Year’s concert.
At noon, just as everyone finished rehearsal and was about to go have lunch together, a delivery guy knocked on the door and came in.
"Excuse me, which one of you is Miss Seraphina?"
"That’s me." Seraphina stepped forward. "What’s up?"
"Here’s your lunch and flowers."
The delivery guy handed the bouquet and lunch over to her and hurriedly left.
Claire Clayton and several young musicians gathered around with smiles.
"Not only ordering lunch but also sending flowers—our President Sterling is too romantic, isn’t he?"
"Ah, there’s a card here!"
...
Seraphina was about to take it when Claire grabbed the card first and read aloud its contents.
"Wifey, have a good lunch, and tonight after work I’ll take you to a movie!"
"Wow—"
Several young girls started teasing immediately.
"Seraphina, don’t tease us singles like this!"
"Exactly, haven’t even had lunch and we’re already stuffed with couple talk; I might eat a bit less for lunch today."
...
"Isn’t that perfect for dieting!" Seraphina snatched the card from Claire’s hand and shoved it into her pocket. "Sorry, I’m off to eat now!"
With the bouquet in her arms and lunch in hand, she walked out of the rehearsal room with a smile.
"In the presence of romance, there’s no loyalty!" Claire joked, noticing Chloe, she invited her. "Chloe, why don’t you join us for lunch?"
Chloe smiled, "I have something to do, you guys go ahead."
"Seems like she’s got a date as well, let’s go, singletons, let’s eat."
Claire and the others joked around as they left, while Chloe’s smile faded. She picked up her violin and left the rehearsal room.
Back in the office, Seraphina placed the flowers and lunch on the desk.
She took the card out of her pocket, glanced at Ethan’s message, and carefully put the card in the drawer.
Taking her phone, she was about to text Ethan when there was a knock on the door.
This guy couldn’t be about to surprise her, could he?
Seraphina smiled as she walked over and opened the door.
Outside the door stood a tall figure.
Wearing a silver-gray coat, elegant and poised—it was Adrian Chamberlain.
Seeing him, Seraphina’s expression immediately turned cold. "You dare to come see me?"
"Seraphina, you’re really misunderstanding me. I came to explain; I really didn’t tell your brother about your marriage."
Seraphina sneered, "You think I’ll believe you now?"
"Seraphina, just think about it..." Adrian explained earnestly, "If I really wanted to tell your brother, why would I wait until now? Besides, if it were me, I would have used evidence to threaten you to leave Ethan, wouldn’t I?"
"You have the nerve to say that?"
"Seraphina, I’m only saying it as a possibility. This time I came to truly reconcile with you."
"Well then, let me tell you, Adrian, give it up!"
Seraphina stepped back, intending to shut the door firmly.
"Seraphina, I’m genuinely here to help." Adrian pressed the door strongly. "Aren’t you trying to overturn your brother’s case? I can give you all the information I have."
Seraphina scoffed, "You think I’ll believe you?"
"I’m telling the truth." Adrian gazed at her face. "Seraphina, I’ve been regretting it these past few days; if... if I hadn’t done those things to hurt you, we could have been happily together now. Seraphina, I beg you, give me one more chance; let’s start over, okay? As long as you agree, I’ll help you get your brother out."
"Dream on!"
Seraphina slammed the door shut.
Adrian frowned and sighed, turning to walk towards the exit.
Watching Adrian walk away from behind the plants, Chloe let out a cold laugh.
