Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 52: How Can There Be Such a Difficult Woman?
Ivy Langley grabbed her phone, looking at Ethan Sterling with a face full of astonishment.
"Are you going to let that bastard treat Seraphina like that and get away with it?"
"This is my business." Ethan Sterling said with a stern face, "In any case... don’t call the police."
Ivy Langley reached out and grabbed Seraphina Thorne’s arm, lifting it into the air.
"Look at what that bastard did, shouldn’t he... pay the price?"
Ethan Sterling frowned, both hands hanging at his sides clenched into fists.
"In any case, when I say don’t, I mean don’t!"
"You have no right to make this decision for Seraphina!" Ivy Langley held onto Seraphina’s arm, "Come on, Seraphina... I’ll go with you to the police station, I have to help you seek justice, let that scumbag be punished by law."
Seraphina instinctively pulled her arm back, "I... I don’t want to go."
Ivy Langley was stunned, "Seraphina, you..."
"Enough!" Ethan Sterling shouted angrily, interrupting Ivy Langley, "If you’re here as a friend to check on Seraphina, you’re welcome, otherwise... Sean Hale, show her out!"
Ivy Langley turned her face, glaring at him.
"What gives you the right?"
"Just because... I am her husband!"
"You..." Ivy Langley scrutinized Ethan Sterling for a moment, "You’re afraid that if this thing gets out, it will be embarrassing for you, right?"
Ethan Sterling remained silent.
"Bastard!" Ivy Langley shouted angrily, eyes red, "The one who got hurt is Seraphina, and you still want her to swallow her anger, you men... are all damn assholes!"
"Miss Langley." Sean Hale, standing behind Ethan Sterling, spoke softly, "Let me show you out!"
"No need to show me out, I have my own legs to walk." Grabbing the bag on the table, Ivy Langley turned around and looked at Seraphina, "Seraphina, if you decide to leave with me now, I guarantee... no one can stop us!"
Seraphina stood by the bed, her face lowered.
"I’m sorry, Ivy... I... I can’t go with you."
"Fine, great!"
Pushing Ethan Sterling aside, Ivy Langley stormed out of the room.
Sean Hale followed, chasing her into the elevator.
Before the elevator doors closed, he stood in front of Ivy Langley.
"What do you want?" Ivy Langley glanced at him coldly, "Want to threaten me on behalf of your boss?"
"That’s not what I mean." Sean Hale’s gaze fell on the girl’s red eyes, "I also studied law, I understand how you feel, and I know you’re trying to protect Miss Seraphina, but... many things aren’t that simple!"
"Then what is the point of the law? What’s the point of us lawyers?" Ivy Langley raised her face, glaring at him, "It’s because of people like you that bad people become more rampant."
"Then have you thought about what will happen if you call the police?"
"The result will be that the bad guy gets punished, and the law gives justice to the victim!"
"What about Miss Seraphina?" Sean Hale’s tone was heavy, "Have you thought about what she’ll have to face?"
Ivy Langley’s tears were almost about to fall.
She was a lawyer and also a girl.
Of course, she knew how much harm such cases bring to girls.
Not wanting Sean Hale to see her tears, Ivy Langley lowered her head.
"We can request a closed trial, minimizing the impact as much as possible."
"You’re too naive, the opposing lawyer won’t think this way."
"So what?" Ivy Langley stepped forward, grabbing his collar, "Even if we women are bullied and forced... do we have to swallow our anger and suffer in silence?"
"I don’t mean that, sometimes, some things aren’t as simple as black and white..."
Seeing the tear streaks on Ivy Langley’s face, Sean Hale couldn’t help frowning.
"You... are crying?"
"Who’s crying?"
Ivy Langley let go of him, wiped her face, and rummaged through her bag for tissues.
After searching for a long time without finding any, she could only wipe her face with her fingers.
The originally delicately applied makeup instantly became a mess.
Sean Hale watched, finding it a bit amusing.
Women are truly troublesome!
He grumbled inwardly but ultimately handed her a handkerchief like a gentleman.
His gaze fell on Ivy Langley’s tear-filled eyes, feeling her emotions, Sean Hale spoke more softly.
"If you’re calm now, I ask you to use your brain and think it through, don’t just act on impulse like a rookie!"
Taking the handkerchief from him without hesitation, Ivy Langley wiped her eyes and blew her nose.
"Then let me remind you not to be someone who just follows orders and forgets about justice."
"Who are you calling a lackey?"
"You!"
"You!"
Sean Hale was so angry he clenched his fist.
"What, want to hit someone?" Ivy Langley stepped closer, "I’m telling you, there are cameras here, if you dare touch me, I’ll report you!"
The elevator was already small in space.
As she stood there, her chest almost touched Sean Hale’s body.
In her fury, Ivy Langley didn’t even notice.
"You..."
Sean Hale straightened his body.
If she were a man, he would have punched her.
The distance between them quickly became zero.
Feeling something different against his chest, Sean Hale was startled and instinctively glanced down at her chest.
The temperature of Galecrest was warmer than Jadeston, and since she came to see a friend, Ivy Langley wore a dress.
Noticing his gaze, Ivy Langley glanced down at her chest.
"Pervert, where are you looking!"
Sean Hale realized he was looking somewhere inappropriate, moved his gaze away, and grudgingly muttered.
"What’s so great about a flat chest?"
Ivy Langley, in anger, thrust out her chest.
"Your eyes have a problem, is this a flat chest?"
Afraid they’d collide again, Sean Hale instinctively took a step back.
Just then, the elevator reached the first floor and opened; the space behind him was empty, he stumbled but caught the elevator door in time to avoid falling.
"Stupid rookie!"
"Lackey, lackey, lackey..."
Ivy Langley retorted like a machine gun, pushed him aside, and rushed out of the elevator, still feeling unsatisfied.
Turning around, she threw the handkerchief she held at Sean Hale.
Sean Hale instinctively caught it, remembered she had wiped her nose with it, and quickly released his fingers.
Holding the handkerchief by one corner with disdain.
How can there be such a troublesome woman in the world?
Watching the man frown with a funny expression, holding the handkerchief.
Ivy Langley paused, then couldn’t help but laugh.
Lackey, serves you right!
With a cold snort, she turned and walked towards the hotel exit.
"Hey!" Sean Hale chased after her with the handkerchief, "After all that, did you listen to any of it?"
Right now, his biggest worry was that in her impulsiveness, Ivy Langley would really call the police, which would mess up Ethan Sterling’s entire plan.
"None of your business."
Rolling her eyes at him and sticking out her tongue, Ivy Langley turned and walked out the hotel door, getting into the backseat of a taxi that had just pulled up to drop off passengers.
"Drive!"
"Hey, rookie, stop right there!"
Sean Hale chased for a few steps, but two legs couldn’t catch up with four wheels, so he stopped, panting, with a hand on his waist.
Sitting in the backseat, watching the panting Sean Hale stop, Ivy Langley let out a cold snort and leaned back into the seat.
"Serves you right for calling me flat-chested!"
