Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 53: Don’t Forget, You’re Mrs. Sterling Now
Actually, Ivy heard everything Sean said just now.
She’s straightforward, easily impulsive, but she’s not stubborn or unreasonable.
From school to now becoming an intern lawyer, she’s heard countless similar cases.
Even if such a case is won, for the female victim, it’s always a form of harm.
This harm comes not only from the perpetrator but also from society as a whole.
Without Seraphina’s consent, she wouldn’t report it to the police casually.
Thinking of Seraphina, Ivy hurriedly grabbed her purse, took out her phone, and dialed Seraphina’s number.
"Seraphina, I’m sorry. I was too impulsive just now."
"Ivy, I know you’re doing it for my sake... but I’m really not ready."
"I understand." Ivy held the receiver, her tone defeated, "Seraphina, I feel... so useless, I can’t even protect my best friend."
When she first studied law, she was full of courage.
Naively thinking that if she were excellent enough, she could speak up for the weak and uphold the fairness of the law.
But now, she can’t even protect her own friend.
Ivy hated her powerlessness.
"That’s not true, Ivy. I believe in you. In the future... you will definitely become an outstanding lawyer."
On the phone, Seraphina took a deep breath, her tone far calmer than Ivy had imagined.
"If one day, I’m ready to go to court, I will certainly let you handle my case."
"Why are you comforting me? It should have been me comforting you!" Ivy’s nose started to tingle again, "Seraphina, I’m not a competent good friend."
"Isn’t it what you said, we don’t need to differentiate between us?" Seraphina’s tone carried a smile, "So... future star lawyer, have we agreed then?"
Taking a deep breath, Ivy wiped her face, straightened her back again, and spoke seriously and earnestly.
"I swear by the dignity of the law, I will definitely get justice for you!"
On the other end of the call, Seraphina listened to her friend’s voice and responded solemnly as well.
"I believe in you."
After hanging up the phone, she turned her face, still holding the phone.
Not far away, Ethan was leaning against the door frame, looking at her thoughtfully.
Knowing he was worried about her state, Seraphina turned around, walked up to him, and smiled at him.
"Is breakfast here yet? I’m so hungry."
Ethan nodded.
"Of course."
Walking into the living room of the suite, Seraphina looked at the breakfast on the table and exaggeratedly sniffed the air.
"Wow, it smells so good. Then I’ll dig in."
Sitting by the table, she picked up the chopsticks and stuffed her mouth full of breakfast from the plate.
Despite not really having much appetite, she worked hard to swallow, as if there was nothing different than usual.
Since they got married, she had already caused him too much trouble, and Seraphina didn’t want to worry him any further.
She owed him too much, something she could never repay.
Ethan sat across the table, slowly stirring the black coffee in his cup.
"If you’re feeling emotional, you can let it out."
"I’m fine."
"Then how about going for a walk with me?"
"You go ahead, there’s a performance tonight."
The performance would last for five days, and today was only the second day.
In the orchestra, every musician has their place, and she couldn’t miss it.
Moreover, she wasn’t in the mood for shopping now.
"Don’t forget, you’re not just a violinist, you’re also my wife, and you have an obligation to accompany me!"
Slamming the coffee onto the table, he suddenly pushed the chair away and stood up.
Seeing that he was unhappy, Seraphina grabbed her coat and chased out of the room.
"Ethan... honey, wait for me!"
The man was tall and long-legged, and she had to jog to barely keep up.
Reaching out to grab his arm, she was clearly a bit out of breath.
"I’m sorry, I’ll be more careful next time."
Last night, if not for Ethan, she would definitely have been ruined by Adrian Chamberlain.
Seraphina couldn’t imagine what she would have been like then.
Ethan saved more than just her integrity, he saved her whole life.
She owed him so much.
Now, let alone comfort him, even if he wanted her life, she would give it without hesitation.
Seeing that Ethan was still upset, she shook his arm, playfully acting spoiled.
"Wherever you want to go, I’ll go with you, okay?"
His gaze fell on the scrape on her forehead, and Ethan’s tone finally softened.
"Let’s go."
The two of them went downstairs together, getting into the car driven over by the driver.
The car drove out of the urban area, arriving at a riverside development zone, stopping in front of a modern three-story white building.
Following behind Ethan as they got out of the car, Seraphina looked around suspiciously.
"What is this place?"
"Our investment company’s branch in Galecrest."
Ethan explained simply, taking her up the steps to the employee lounge on the third floor.
Here, besides a tea room and rest sofas, there was also a fitness area with many professional gym equipment.
Opening a cabinet, Ethan took out one of his sweatshirts and tossed it to her.
"Put this on."
Seraphina obediently held the clothes and went into the dressing room, changing into the sweatshirt.
The sweatshirt was a bit big, so she had to roll up the sleeves.
Seeing her come out, Ethan took a pair of boxing gloves off the rack, put them on her hands, and pulled her to the punching bag hanging in mid-air.
Standing behind her, he helped raise her arms, showing her a basic boxing stance.
"Now... punch!"
Physically weak, Seraphina rarely exercised and had no talent or interest in it.
Not wanting him upset, she cooperatively threw a punch.
"A bit harder!" Ethan reminded from behind, "Straighten your arms, don’t bend them!"
Seraphina used her strength and threw another punch.
Ethan walked over to stand behind the punching bag, "With you like this, you still want to defeat Adrian Chamberlain and get revenge for your father and brother?"
Seraphina frowned, "I don’t want to hear his name!"
"What, can’t even hear his name?" Ethan scoffed coldly, "Don’t forget, right now your Zenith Group still has 30% of its shares in his hands!"
Seraphina shouted angrily, "I said, don’t mention that bastard!"
Ethan steadied the punching bag and pushed it towards her.
"Because you’re scared of him, right?"
"I’m not!"
Seraphina shouted angrily.
"You are. Right now, you don’t even have the courage to face him!"
"Who said so? If he were right in front of me now, I’d... punch him!"
Staring at the bag, Adrian Chamberlain’s face flashed in her mind.
Seraphina suddenly stepped forward and fiercely punched the bag.
"Adrian Chamberlain..."
"I’ll ruin you..."
"I’ll make you lose everything..."
Punch after punch after punch...
Each punch was harder, fiercer than the last.
She completely imagined the bag as Adrian Chamberlain, using all her strength time and again to land her punches on it.
"I’ll make you... pay for everything you’ve done!"
Until she was drenched in sweat, exhausted and nearly collapsing.
Seraphina stepped back a few paces, plopping down on the gym’s cushioned mat.
"I’m not afraid of him!" She lifted her face, covered in sweat, glaring at the approaching Ethan, "I’m not afraid of Adrian Chamberlain, not even a bit!"
Ethan didn’t say a word, spreading his hands, covering her head with a towel to wipe off the sweat.
"That’s good."
He crouched down, holding the towel with both hands, gently wiping away the sweat on her face.
"Because you will be seeing him soon!"
"So..." Seraphina looked up from under the towel, peering through the space, "Is that why you brought me here?"
"The Zenith Group’s board meeting is next week, and I want you to accompany me to attend."
Ethan raised his right hand, removed the towel from her head, helped her take off her boxing gloves, and handed her a bottle of sports drink after opening it.
"Don’t forget, you’re now Mrs. Sterling. I won’t allow you to embarrass me!"
Seraphina took the sports drink and drank a few large gulps.
Raising her right hand, she wiped the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand, standing determinedly.
"Okay!"
