Martial Peak - Rise Of The Human Emperor-Chapter 57-The Sealed Valley
Chapter 57 - 57-The Sealed Valley
"You should have a good rest. As soon as things calm down, I will take you out of here."
Xia Ning Chang looked gloomy as he said this. She shook her head slowly and replied, "We can't leave this place."
"Since I unsealed the Nine Cloud Eight Locks, this entire mountain valley has been sealed off. Before dawn, no one will be able to escape from here."
Yang Kai froze, realizing the meaning of her words. "When you left me, it was to prepare this formation?"
Xia Ning Chang nodded slightly. "I wanted to use this formation to deal with the Nine Yin Dew Crystals, but I was forced to activate it before the scheduled time."
"Were those black hands the result of the formation?" Yang Kai asked, recalling the terrifying scene from earlier.
"Yes."
"They wouldn't have been killed by it already, would they?" he asked hopefully.
Xia Ning Chang shook her head. "No, this formation is unable to kill them; those people are no weaklings. It might eliminate one or two, but only those with the lowest strength."
"That's not too bad either," Yang Kai muttered to himself.
"It's just... although it won't kill them, the Yin Qi from the chains will invade their bodies, sealing most of their strength. Before dawn, they won't be able to unseal themselves. I think I'll recover some of my Qi by then, and we can escape together."
Suddenly, Yang Kai's eyes lit up with a dangerous glint. He looked at Xia Ning Chang, voice tinged with excitement. "You said their cultivations were sealed. How much of their power was sealed?"
Xia Ning Chang considered it. "At least 60–70%. For the True Element Boundary cultivator, about 80%."
"So they won't be able to display their full might!" Yang Kai's excitement grew.
Xia Ning Chang looked at him nervously. "What are you thinking? Even with their strength sealed, they're still dangerous. Junior Brother, don't act rashly."
She could see the thoughts forming in his eyes and immediately tried to dissuade him. "There are too many of them! Don't be hasty!"
Yang Kai gently patted her hands. "Relax, I have confidence. If we stay hidden, we'll eventually be found. Then we'll be like turtles flipped on their backs—helpless. But if we take the initiative, we might have a small chance."
"No way," Xia Ning Chang said, shaking her head like a rattle-drum. "I'm your Senior Sister—you must listen to me. The Yin Qi in this valley alone will drain your World Qi. You won't stand a chance."
"Little Senior Sister, if you want to live, don't stop me. You saw Long Hui's expression—you know what fate awaits you if you fall into his hands."
Xia Ning Chang trembled fiercely.
"Since that's the case, don't block me," Yang Kai said, gently freeing his hand from her grasp.
Helpless, Xia Ning Chang relented. "If you insist on going, then at least take this treasure with you." She handed him a jade pendant.
"You need this more than me," Yang Kai said firmly. "Don't worry about me."
Xia Ning Chang's heart clenched. But then she remembered—the sight of him blocking not one, but two attacks from a True Element Boundary cultivator. Maybe... maybe she didn't really need to worry.
Perhaps he had hidden depths, strengths yet unrevealed.
She didn't question it.
She chose to trust him instead.
"If you come back," she said softly, "will you promise me one thing?"
"Promise you what?" Yang Kai asked.
"When you come back, I'll tell you," she whispered.
There were still three or four hours until dawn. So many enemies, so little time.
But Yang Kai was already walking into the dark, ready for the fight ahead.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In the forest, some people were moving about at high speeds. Judging by the sound of their footsteps, it seemed like there were two individuals. Yang Kai hid behind a large tree, calmly waiting for them to draw closer.
He had no idea which group the pair belonged to, nor did he know their cultivation levels. So, for the time being, he could only observe and plan accordingly. If they turned out to be strong, he would avoid them and wait for the first sign of weakness.
As the footsteps neared, one voice called out, "Senior Brother Xiong, where did they go? We've searched for so long and still can't find them."
Another voice responded, "Junior Brother, don't be so anxious. Senior Brother Nu and those brutes from the Blood Group are also searching. Yang Kai won't be able to hide for long. We're just putting on a front right now—perhaps even as we speak, they've already found him and that girl."
The first disciple sighed, "It's just a pity. That girl really is a beauty. Falling into Long Hui's hands... I don't even want to imagine what'll happen to her."
Senior Brother Xiong sneered, "Long Hui's a sex maniac, doomed to never achieve anything great. When we get stronger, we'll have our fun."
While he was speaking, a figure suddenly appeared just a few feet in front of them. Senior Brother Xiong stopped in his tracks and shouted, "Who's there?!"
A light chuckle echoed from the side. "Aren't you looking for me?"
"Yang Kai!" Brother Xiong was overjoyed. In such a hopeless search, running into Yang Kai without even needing a trap was pure luck. Now, they wouldn't have to waste any more effort trying to draw him out.

Brother Xiong was excited. Yang Kai, on the other hand, was calm.
From their conversation, Yang Kai had already deduced their status. The Storm House group consisted of five members. Except for Nu Lang, who was at the Qi Transforming First Stage, the remaining four disciples were only at the Initial Element Stage.
These two disciples from Storm House had no personal grudge with Yang Kai, but having lost several comrades during their pursuit, they had displaced their hatred onto him. Now that their enemy stood before them, rage clouded their thoughts.
Brother Xiong sneered as he sized Yang Kai up. "Courageous. You actually dare to stand before us. Where's that female disciple you rescued?"
Yang Kai cracked his knuckles and took a step forward. "Defeat me, and maybe I'll tell you."
"Junior Brother," Xiong said with a smirk, drawing the sword at his waist, "stand back and get ready to collect his corpse."
He lunged. The blade whistled through the cold Yin air, aimed straight for Yang Kai's heart.
But Yang Kai simply sidestepped.
Slash after slash followed, Brother Xiong growing increasingly impatient as Yang Kai dodged each one with precision. After a brief exchange, they both stepped back.
" Laughable! Come die!"
Xiong surged his World Qi. His blade crackled, wind and lightning spiraling around it.
"Thunder Wind Cry!"
He swung his blade. A sharp arc of lightning shot through the air, too fast for an average cultivator to dodge.
Yang Kai didn't even move. His palm flared red-hot like molten iron as he raised it to meet the blade.
Brother Xiong sneered—until his sword touched Yang Kai 's hand.
The lightning vanished on contact.
Clang! The sword was diverted, barely grazing Yang Kai 's shoulder.
Brother Xiong's face twisted in disbelief. That level of Qi control...
His lightning had been smothered like a candle in a storm.
He stumbled back, unnerved, but Yang Kai gave him no reprieve. Closing the gap in an instant, he slammed a blazing fist into Xiong's gut. Blood spewed from the man's lips.
Yang Kai 's strike was empowered by a drop of Yang Liquid, and the result was immediate. Brother Xiong crumpled, motionless.
The cold Yin winds howled through the valley as the younger disciple stared blankly.
"Brother Xiong...?"
Thud.
The corpse hit the ground.
Yang Kai straightened and smiled. "He's headed to the Yellow Springs. You'll be joining him soon."
The younger disciple shrieked and turned to flee.
"Running?"
Yang Kai picked up Xiong's sword and chased. The Yin Qi slowed his prey, but Yang Kai, practiced in True Yang Tactics, remained unaffected.
Ten feet.
He hurled the sword.
The disciple tried to dodge, but Yang Kai was already upon him.
The young man turned, blade drawn, just in time to see a blazing red slash.
Clang—crack! His sword broke in two. A moment later, heat bloomed at his neck. He stumbled, eyes wide.
Blood spurted. His head burst open like a melon.
Yang Kai stood still, the red blade in hand, dripping.
Two enemies down. And he hadn't even used the golden skeleton.
But from the left, the wind stirred.
Two sets of footsteps. And another from the right.
More Storm House disciples. That cry from earlier must've drawn them.
Yang Kai smirked. He sprinted left.
Exactly as he'd hoped—the remaining three were nearby and had split up. Now, he could handle them all at once.
And he was just getting started.
