Marvel : I'm in Westview Town-Chapter 76
Chapter 76 - 76
.
---
The Manor Restaurant was located at the center of the entrance gate. Since it was converted into a business facility at the end of the last century, the restaurant not only served the residents but also welcomed outsiders to dine.
As it approached noon, the once-empty restaurant was filling up with more and more customers.
"This way, please. Both of you," a middle-aged man led Finn and Wanda to a table for two by the window.
"There are other matters I need to attend to. I hope you have a pleasant lunch. Goodbye."
"Thank you," Finn nodded, then took his seat opposite Wanda. Their position was just right to enjoy the beautiful view of the garden outside.
He opened the half-covered window, letting in the refreshing autumn breeze before pushing the menu toward Wanda.
"Witch, what do you want to eat?"
"I don't know the dishes here. Please help me order," Wanda replied, flipping through the menu. The unfamiliar dishes made her hesitate, and she pushed it back with a slightly embarrassed look.
"Actually, I haven't eaten here before either, so I'll just order something at random," Finn said with a light chuckle. Seeing Wanda's hesitation, he picked a few dishes he thought she might like and placed the order on the digital tablet.
He leaned back, glancing around. "It's convenient now. The waiters don't have to work as hard."
With the rapid development of technology, restaurants no longer required servers to take orders. Everything was done online, reducing the need for waitstaff. Except for high-end restaurants, there were barely any waiters standing by to serve customers anymore.
"But their wages haven't changed. Some people are paid even less than the Avengers," Wanda frowned slightly, sipping her warm water.
After all, in 2019, things hadn't advanced this far. When she woke up in 2024, everything felt different. Time had moved too fast in those five years, and the pace of change was overwhelming.
"You say that like you're not afraid of outsiders knowing how the government mistreats the Avengers," Finn said, watching her reaction.
Wanda's expression darkened. It was true. They risked their lives for missions, yet the compensation was barely enough to survive. Even Sam Wilson, the Falcon, had to borrow money just to get by.
A sudden argument broke the stillness of the restaurant, drawing everyone's attention.
"Hey, stop! Your entire order is just chocolate!"
The commotion came from a few tables away. Many guests turned their heads, some with astonishment, others with disgust.
Finn raised an eyebrow, turning toward the source of the noise.
"It's Eddie. I met him in the corridor earlier," Wanda said, craning her neck to see better.
"Eddie?" Finn followed her gaze, his lips curling into a knowing smile.
There, sitting awkwardly, was Eddie Brock. He could feel the judgmental stares around him, and he awkwardly waved his hands.
"Sorry, everyone. I... uh... I have a condition. Please forgive me."
Inside his head, Venom's voice echoed impatiently.
"Eddie, we're not sick, and this isn't even our world. Why don't we just eat everyone in the restaurant and run?"
Eddie's eyes darted around the room. He could feel Venom getting more excited, especially with so many people around.
"Venom, shut up. We're in public," he muttered under his breath.
"But Eddie, I'm starving," Venom whined.
However, the moment Venom's gaze landed on Finn, his voice went silent.
"Venom, what's wrong? You scared?" Eddie smirked, sensing the sudden shift in Venom's demeanor.
"Shh, Eddie, don't talk. Look at the smile on his face. He must not have noticed us!"
Venom was genuinely rattled. He had seen Finn's kind before—magicians. And magicians were dangerous. He had spent enough time studying Earth's history to know that.
"They say magicians can see into people's souls. We should leave."
Eddie was amused. "Are you serious? You're scared of him? The same Venom who wants to eat people every day?"
On the other side of the restaurant, Wanda was still observing Eddie closely.
"Finn, do you notice anything... off?" she asked in a hushed tone.
Finn glanced at her, confused. "No. Why?"
"That guy... he feels strange. Like he has two personalities, and they're both active at the same time," Wanda whispered, leaning in slightly.
She kept her gaze on Eddie. "You saw how he was talking to himself just now? But it was like someone else was talking to him too."
"Maybe he's just mentally unstable," Finn mused. The warmth of Wanda's breath near his ear made him twitch slightly, but he kept his gaze on Eddie.
No, Wanda was right. There were two beings inside Eddie. Finn could feel it.
"Eddie, let's go. The magician is watching us," Venom urged.
"Venom, is this really you?" Eddie whispered in disbelief. "The same Venom that wanted to eat people an hour ago?"
"Eddie, I'm serious. Let's go."
Just then, a waiter approached their table, holding a bill with an uncomfortable expression.
"Sir, we need you to settle the bill now," the waiter said politely.
Eddie frowned. "Wait, don't we pay after we eat? Why the rush?"
He hadn't even thought about the payment. He barely had any money when he crossed over into this world, and what little he had was gone.
"Apologies, sir. This is a request from the lobby manager," the waiter explained with an apologetic smile.
"I'll pay when I finish eating," Eddie said, trying to stall for time.
"Sir, our manager said that if the bill isn't settled, we will have to ask you to leave," the waiter's polite tone turned firmer.
Eddie clenched his fists, his temper rising. Under his clothes, a thin layer of black liquid started forming, creeping toward the surface.
"Eddie, let me handle this," Venom whispered. "We run now, and no one catches us."
"And maybe eat a few people while we're at it."
Just as Venom was about to take over, a hand suddenly slapped a card onto the table.
Eddie blinked, startled. The black liquid under his skin immediately retracted.
"I'll pay for this table," Finn said casually, his card resting on the bill.
Eddie looked up in shock.
The waiter, seeing that the payment was made, simply nodded and walked away without another word.
Eddie stared at Finn, his expression unreadable.
"Thanks.
---
Eddie hesitated for a long time before finally replying.
"Don't thank me—thank her."
Finn pointed at Wanda, looking speechless. He hadn't even wanted to talk to Eddie at first, but instead, he had been focused on following the witch. He firmly believed that his sixth sense was absolutely correct.
And it had promised to reward him well tonight.
That, combined with the venom inside Eddie's body earlier, which was about to come out, only reinforced his instincts.
The witch had noticed the anomaly at a glance, which was why she had called Eddie over—to settle the bill and, in doing so, save him. And maybe, just maybe, get closer and talk.
"Are you both magicians?"
Eddie glanced at Wanda as he recalled what he had seen by the lake before.
"I'm sort of a half-magician. She's the real deal," Finn replied without hesitation.
"Eddie, he's so strong, yet he's not even an official magician..."
Venom's voice rang in his mind. Clearly, the symbiote believed Finn's words, which only made Eddie feel that the world wasn't as simple as it seemed.
"Don't listen to his nonsense. We're not magicians," Wanda cut in, walking over and tugging at Finn's sleeve, signaling him to stop spouting such things. "Real magicians stay in Kamar-Taj."
"Eddie, let's get out of here. This world isn't looking too fun..."
Venom's nervous voice only heightened when he heard the name. He had seen Eddie conjure an ice city with a mere wave of his hand, and now Wanda was implying that wasn't even close to what a real magician could do. If that was the case, just how powerful were the ones from Kamar-Taj?
"Venom, shut up. You're making it impossible for me to think straight."
Eddie was getting annoyed at the constant buzzing in his head. He wished he could pull Venom out and shut him up physically.
"Who are you talking to?"
Wanda was curious now. She had been sensing two distinct souls inside Eddie's body for a while.
And it wasn't a case of split personality.
Split personality was a mental illness. No matter how fractured a mind was, there was still only one soul.
But Eddie had two.
Two different lifeforms.
"It's just a parasite. It's inside me."
As soon as Eddie said that, Venom started cursing up a storm in his head. Eddie ignored him, blocking the noise as best as he could.
"I have something that might interest you," he continued.
"If you don't mind, why don't you sit at our table?" Finn offered, realizing where this conversation was going. Eddie was going to bring up the multiverse. He was probably worried about finding a way back, so Finn figured he might as well hear him out properly.
Besides, with Wanda's Chaos Magic, she would find out eventually.
Still, given her past experiences, she might not believe Eddie's claims right away.
"The multiverse, again?"
Sure enough, Wanda frowned slightly, her expression turning colder.
"That's right. The multiverse," Eddie insisted. "I didn't believe it either—until now. But I've actually crossed over into another parallel universe. Reality forced me to accept it."
His voice was emotional, almost incoherent. He was still struggling to wrap his head around everything.
And who could blame him? For a regular journalist, discovering alien symbiotes was already insane.
Traveling across parallel universes? That was something else entirely.
But Wanda's expression only darkened further. She turned to Finn, skeptical. "What do you think?"
"Could be true," Finn admitted with a shrug. "Besides, no one is that bored—just running around, trying to make people believe in elaborate lies."
Wanda sighed. She was still doubtful, and Finn understood why.
Mysterio had pulled off an impressive deception before. He had almost fooled the entire world. Even Nick Fury had fallen for it.
"You don't believe me?" Eddie sounded exasperated. "I swear to God, I'm not lying."
"If you're telling the truth, there's someone who can confirm it." Wanda crossed her arms. "He's in New York. If you really have an issue, trust me—he'll find you."
"He's a magician?"
"For this sort of thing? Yes," she answered.
"If Eddie's telling the truth, then Stephen's probably got his hands full right now," Finn muttered under his breath.
He scratched his nose, feeling a little guilty. He had a pretty strong hunch that the spell from last night had pulled in more than just Eddie and Venom.
If Doctor Strange hadn't shown up yet, that probably meant there was an even bigger problem.
What else had crossed over?
"Go to New York..." Eddie repeated to himself.
Just then, the waiter arrived with their food.
The entire table was covered in chocolate-based dishes—mostly desserts, but some were sweet-and-savory combinations.
"Can you even eat this?" Finn asked, eyeing the food warily. The rich, overwhelming scent of chocolate filled the air.
"The parasite in my body loves it."
No sooner had Eddie finished speaking than a black tendril shot out from his chest, slapping him square in the face.
"Shit, Venom! Will you relax?"
"So he's your second personality?"
Wanda leaned in slightly, fascinated.
"I thought it might be some kind of soul," she mused.
But as soon as she saw the mass of black liquid, she immediately realized what the second presence in Eddie's body actually was.
Not a split mind.
But a symbiote.
And an intelligent one at that.
"I have to feed him constantly," Eddie muttered. "Or we both die."
Venom finally retracted into Eddie's body, and he wasted no time in devouring his food.
"Eddie, be careful when you leave this universe," Finn warned. "Don't leave any pieces of Venom behind."
In the original timeline, when Eddie and Venom had left, a small trace of the symbiote had remained. That single fragment had eventually led to the birth of a supervillain.
Venom's offspring—each generation stronger than the last.
First, the son had surpassed the father.
Later, in the comics, the grandson had taken down both his father and grandfather at the same time.
An enviable but dangerous trait.
"Yeah, yeah..."
Eddie nodded absentmindedly. He hadn't eaten in over ten hours. Right now, all he cared about was filling his stomach.
Even if everything tasted like chocolate.
Before long, he had cleared the entire table.
The surrounding diners gave them strange looks.
Finn and Wanda, who had barely touched half their meals, were stunned.
Finn had known about Eddie's appetite, but witnessing it firsthand was something else entirely.
Having a symbiote inside your body clearly wasn't a good thing. Aside from the insatiable hunger, the bond would eventually cause the body's organs to deteriorate.
Finn had once fantasized about owning a Venom suit when he was younger.
Now, not so much.
"See you two around. I'm heading for New York tonight," Eddie announced.
He wiped his mouth with a napkin, threw on his coat, and walked out without looking back.
"Finn... I think I believe him now," Wanda murmured, staring at the pile of empty plates. She licked her lips absentmindedly.
"Don't think too much about it. Just go back and take a nap," Finn said, exhaling in relief.
A multiversal visitor was basically a ticking time bomb.
Who knew what would happen next?
Besides, he still wasn't sure if this Eddie was the Eddie he knew...
Or just one of countless Eddies from the multiverse.

Finn watched as Eddie disappeared through the restaurant's entrance.
"Looks like I need to check in on Stephen soon," he thought.
