Chapter 260: A Mother’s Introduction

[OBREN PALACE]

"Ah, finally! He was a tough one, it’s just a pity that he had to touch you, Mother,’’ Jungwoo said to the queen as they caught their breath after what had just happened.

So much of their time had been spent fighting Oshita and now that they had finally been free of the man, they could take a rest.

Eunbi looked at her son, the worry on her face making itself known.

She wasn’t going to pretend that she was okay with how everything had turned out. She wasn’t going to sit there and act like their world was not burning even though Oshita had mentioned a few things that got her attention.

But then she also knew that if she asked her son right now, her son would be distracted and she didn’t want that.

Maybe she would ask once they got back to their palace, right?

"Come, mother, we need to get moving. The rogues definitely know we have murdered one of their own. I need you to listen to me this time. Actually, it would be better if I take you to where I took my visitor," Jungwoo said so casually as he helped his mother up.

He didn’t care that there were so many questions on the queen’s face and with what Oshita had said. But then what cells could she do other than listen to her son, right? And so the mother and son went to the chamber where Yanna Petrova was at, in the palace.

It was an old room and looked like it would start reeking anytime soon. Then again, it wasn’t like Yanna had a better place to be in any way.

’Shit,’ Yanna said to herself as she heard footsteps heading towards where she was.

They were heavy and light footsteps and she knew that there had to be more than two people. She wasn’t sure what she expected but she figured she could as well be ready, right?

When she heard the door to the chambers opening, Yanna instinctively grabbed the nearest rod and got ready to defend herself. As long as the person beginning the door wasn’t Kim Rania she wasn’t going to fight and make sure they knew she wasn’t going to go down easily.

Only Rani was her greatest fear and right now, she had a feeling that the madness in the palace wasn’t even Rania’s doing.

Oh, but Yanna had learned the ins and outs of Kim Rania and she thought very well that the woman would wring her neck the next time they saw each other and she wasn’t going to hold back anymore anyway.

"Just a moment, I’ll look for her," Jungwoo said to his mother who was not sure what to say anymore. She was not in the position to because right now, she couldn’t help but think back to what Oshita had said.

She had a feeling that Oshita hadn’t said that to fuck with her head, because her words had directly affected her son. Jeon Jungwoo was never easily affected but Oshita had managed to get a reaction out of him.

Besides, Eunbi knew that her son had only mutilated Oshita just because he knew things that he didn’t want the queen to know. And that left the queen with the dilemma of having to bring up another version of Seojoon.

She had hoped to bring up her son in the kindest of ways, unlike his father, but what had just happened earlier was making Queen Eunbi wonder if there was any hope for anyone in her family.

Maybe there would come a day when she could figure that out, but until then, she had to make sure that none of her family members were at each other;s throats.

Oh, the wishes of a queen mother.

"Yaa!!" Yanna screamed as she lunged at the figure she was seeing.

To her, it was like someone who was coming after her. Thai as an enemy and she didn’t know what else she could do other than to defend herself. It didn’t matter that there was so much waiting for her at the end of the day.

She didn’t mind that the palace was getting attacked and she was probably to be taken as a prisoner again. She didn’t care about that. If it was the palace that she was meant to die in, then she would let herself go freely.

She didn’t care that the world was burning outside and that she could easily be the one person that was sacrificed to make it all better. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

All she had were hopes and dreams and the fact that she was sure Rania wasn’t here was all the conviction she needed to know that she would be able to fight this war and win.

"Hey... hey, easy there. It’s just me. You know I wouldn’t harm you," Jungwoo said as he claimed his sister down and took the road from her hand.

However, even then, Yanna couldn’t help but be fiercely curious about the other person in the room. She looked like she wasn’t ready to meet or interact with anyone and that in itself was all that she could afford right now.

"What are you doing here? Why aren’t you defending your palace? Or do you want me to join you?" Yanna asked and Jungwoo just let out a low chuckle.

He knew that his sister would literally want to jump in and help them but this was a battle that Yanna Petrova had to keep herself out of, and the prince himself was going to make sure of it.

His sister was to be free and right now, he sure hoped that their mother wouldn’t know that Yanna was his sibling because that would be a lot, even for him.

"Come, I want to introduce you to someone," Jungwoo said and Yanna looked at him skeptically.

"Who is it? I thought you wanted me out of the palace affairs and you didn’t need me on the battlefield?" Yanna asked, her voice so cold and stiff.

She was trying to protect herself and hide the fear that was coursing through her veins.

Of course, she knew that she would be in trouble if all of this was out to the world and the fact that the prince wanted to introduce her to someone made her wonder what the hell was going on with the man.

Maybe there was still hope for them, right?

But was there?

"My mother, the crown queen of Obren," Jungwoo said, and Yanna instinctively stepped back from the man.

She had heard the stories of the queen, Eunbi. And she knew for a fact that this woman was easily the cruelest strategist that the kingdom knew. This woman was dangerous even without any weapons on her.

She may have steered clear of the battles and let her distance for years on end, but if someone tried to mess with her family.

Jeon Eunbi was easily the devil’s accomplice in every way.

Yanna was already thinking of what she was supposed to say to the woman, but Jungwoo rubbed her hand gently as if to tell her to relax and that the queen wasn’t a threat.

But was Yanna supposed to believe that the mother of the prince was the kindest person ever alive? What the hell was even this?

"Sorry. What?"
