Chapter 261: For The One They Loved

[OBREN PALACE]

"Sorry. What?" Yanna was forced out when Jungwoo dragged her gently out from the shadows, to the center of the chambers, where the crown queen was waiting with a bored face.

However, with one glance at the girl before her, the queen could hear Luna Kim’s voice taunting her.

What the hell?

"My mother. Come on, she won’t hurt you," Jungwoo said as he ushered Yanna to the center like this was a public show.

The werewolf queen was not sure if she was hallucinating or she was letting Luna Kim’s words get to her, but one thing was certain. Someone was playing games with her and she thought it was just her eyes.

"Right, mother?" Jungwoo added, directing that last bit to his mother who was quick to snap out of the trance she had been in.

This right here was a minefield and the woman knew she had to treat it carefully. It didn’t matter what she was expecting, because she needed to face whatever was happening. The palace was under fire anyway.

"Yes, of course. I don’t have a problem with that. I trust my son, so if he thinks having you deposit the whole kingdom thinking you’re dead and the Incayon psycho getting punished for your death," the queen said and Yanna let out a low sigh.

Of course, she didn’t expect to be welcomed. The queen had just stated everything that happened and even then Yanna wasn’t sure if she could trust the woman.

Maybe coming to the palace was a bad idea. But then again, she was here already and if she tried to leave when at war, the people would turn against her, and that was easily the riskiest of all things that could happen to her in that moment.

"My apologies for th–" Yanna began but the queen wasn’t having any of that. She didn’t need an apology when she was sure that the madness in her palace was triggered by the girl in front of her.

How was she supposed to settle what was happening when the rogues were in her home already? This wasn’t what she had subscribed to.

"I don’t need your apologies. Keep them for someone who cares. If your presence here causes my son any trouble, of any kind, I will snuff the life out of you myself.

"You may be a hybrid, but I know a thing or two about them and how to make you a lifeless corpse. So don’t try anything with my son, or you won’t have to worry about the Invasion psycho anymore," the queen said and Ynana just indeed stiffly.

Goodness, this woman was scary as fuck. When the hell had she gotten to this point? Then again, she was desperate, and desperate times sure did call for desperate measures like the one she had subscribed to at the moment.

She would be fine, right?

"Go, son. Go find your father. I will remain here with the Calindra Luna," Queen Eunbi said, leaving no room for discussion, and Jungwoo looked at her as if to ask her if she was sure about that.

Yanna was dangerous and the queen was equally dangerous. Leaving the two explosive women in the same space was dangerous, very dangerous.

"Okay. Lock the door behind me, I wouldn’t want anyone to harm you. And you can make use of the tunnel in the wall, if you hear someone coming.

"Don’t come out, until I come back for you," Jungwoo said and his mother just nodded before pushing her out of the room. The palace was in chaos and if the queen wasn’t going to help, the prince needed to be there.

"I can lend my skill–" Yanna tried but the queen looked at her like she didn’t have the brains to see and think for herself. Surely, she couldn’t be that dumb not to notice that all of this wouldn’t be the best for her, if the kingdom knew she was alive, no?

"Sit your pretty ass back down and stay silent. You aren’t going anywhere," the queen said as she slammed the door behind her son. This wasn’t the time for them to exchange pleasantries with each other, and she wasn’t going to tolerate that anyway.

With his mother and his sister safe, Jungwoo walked in the direction of the palace throne room. He didn’t have to hide anymore, because he knew that he could fight.

He had to make sure that his father was okay too and that was something he had to be quick about anyway. However, it didn’t take long before he was sighted by rogues who looked like they wanted his blood.

They had been expecting Oshita, but then their concerns were confirmed when they saw the prince coming back covered in blood. Their enforcer was dead at the mission to make sure everything was according to plan.

Sadly the warriors went after Jungwoo, to fight the prince. They didn’t care how their enforcer had lost his life, but they would mix that in the process.

"You must really be thirsting for a beating since I just killed your goddamn enforcer. Maybe I should just work that with your own, no?" Jungwoo asked.

However, at the mention of the dead enforcer, the group of rogues suddenly seemed to be filtered. Of the thirty that had come, ten instantly stepped back while twenty remained to fight.

"Oh, so the courageous ones come first, huh?" Jungwoo taunted them and they just smirked at him.

"Not the courageous ones, pesky wolf. We are Kaia Seto’s creation. He sent us to say hello if anyone from our team fell and you took out the most important one.

"Let’s get this done, yeah?" Raqeeb, the leader of the hybrids said before they rushed at the prince who was still trying to process who the fuck Kaia Seto was.

He couldn’t deny the fact that the name had sent chills down his spine. Whoever Kaia Seto was, he had to be something else, because these wolves coming at him were confident, a little too confident.

"Oh great. I am assuming whoever Kaia is, he will show up once I’m done with you, right?" Jungwoo said and for the first time in a long time, his words sounded foreign to him.

Maybe he was just not sure right? Because there was no way he could be scared, especially if he had never been scared of King Nathaniel and that man had imprisoned him for over sixteen years.

There had to be something else, right?

"Come on then you, pesky wolf," Raqeeb said, and they charged at Jungwoo. It was going to be a hectic fight, but this time, Jungwoo was choosing to believe in himself.

Maybe that would count for something.

It had to, because there was just no way he was letting these people take his home away from him. And so they fought the prince, not giving him a chance to take a break.

They kicked his ass in more than one way, and wounded him so badly that by the time they were done with him, Jungwoo was sure that he would be dead by nightfall.

But that wasn’t even in the plans. Instead of killing him, the hybrids dragged Jungwoo to one of the empty rooms in the palace and locked him in.

They didn’t care what happened to him anyway, as long as he didn’t die.
