Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 262: The Queen’s Checkmate or Stalemate?
[OBREN PALACE]
The death of Oshita was something that even Paloma hadn’t anticipated and it angered her on many levels. She had been patient, very patient until the hybrids confirmed the cruel murder of her best friend and enforcer.
It was something that Paloma Mishra wasn’t going to forgive, and if this was her ticket to hell, then she gladly onboard. She wasn’t going to think this time she wasn’t going to go easy on anyone.
She was going to burn down the goddamn palace and she was going to take prisoners this time.
"Did you find the body?" Paloma asked the hybrids and they were skeptical to tell her the truth. She had still been unable to get through the throne room doors and now her best warrior had died.
This was something their Paloma wasn’t going to take easily. But first, she needed information on what was happening. She wanted to know if there was a possibility that they could take their own and bury him later.
"Yes, your majesty. We found his body. We portaled him to Incayon already," Raqeeb said to the rogue queen. They knew how she was feeling and had promised to make everyone here feel the brunt of it all.
"How was his condition?" Paloma asked and for a moment, Raqeeb looked at the queen, wondering if she was ever going to be ready to hear what the man had to say about Oshita. They may have been from different races, but they had grown to be family.
They were determined to clean Obren of the sins and right now even though they had taken a hit, Raqeeb wished that the queen would feel better after the destruction they would cause. But would that make her feel any better in that instant?
"Queen Paloma–"
"No, Raqeeb. What was Oshita’s condition when you found him?" Paloma insisted and Raqeeb, seeing as he didn’t have a choice, touched the rogue queen’s temple and got her into his memories that specifically involved Oshita.
With what she saw, Paloma felt her heart breaking for the hundredth time.
This wasn’t what she had wanted for her best warriors, but she was well enough to know that war had casualties. And Oshita was the first casualty, and she was going to be sure that he was the last of them all.
"Burn the palace down. Burn everything. I don’t care if there are people still alive in there. Burn every room you leave and make sure by the time we are done, the only thing that is left of this goddamn palace, is ruins.
"Go, Raqeeb. Burn it down as if it was offensive towards Kaia. Make the palace a deserted hole. I will deal with th fucking king. And if you find Jungwoo and Eunbi, bind them up, we will be taking them with us," Paloma said and that was all the hybrids needed to go feral.
She really was furious, and she wasn’t going to forgive anyone.
"Let me bring down the door for you, Paloma," Raqeeb said and the rogue queen didn’t even hesitate because she let him through and the hybrids.
Being the creation of Kaia the bastard, they were equipped with self-defense magic and when they came together, the magic was too powerful.
Maybe that was also why the door to the throne room went down in the first ten seconds that the hybrids had decided to bring it down.
They also made sure to create a hole in the wall that was holding the door, so much so that the whole throne room was accessible to any and everyone who wanted in.
"Thank you," Paloma said as she walked in with her rogues while Raqeeb and his team headed in the opposite direction.
In the throne room, there were a little or three hundred warriors who were ready to fight and defend their king. They had been expecting a large number of warriors, but when they saw Paloma and her fifty or so warriors, they relaxed and that was their mistake.
The rogues were pissed, fueled by the death of their own and angered by the fact that the king hadn’t even tried to make amends to the treaty that had been defunct on the day of the Obre festival. It went a long way to show just how much this king cared for the wolves.
It was like the king had decided that it was an all men for themselves kind of shit and that’s not fair to anyone, at all. There was just no way the king would be the one to punish his people like that. And for a werewolf king, Seojoon was a bastard.
Paloma didn’t say anything to the warriors in the room. She just started ripping through them with her sword. She was pissed and she was going to vent out. The rogues fought the king’s warriors, making sure to leave them dead, dead and dead.
The spell that Kaia had cast on them was still working so they weren’t afraid of anything. At the farthest end of the room, where the throne was, satta king who had been adamant in his quest to never give in no matter what happened to everyone else.
He hadn’t heard from his son and he was hoping to see his wife too. but then they weren’t there. So he assumed that they were prisoners. Then again, in his history with Paloma, Seojoon knew that Paloma never took prisoners, but maybe this was a first for her, right?
"Hello Seojoon. I see you’re looking as fit as a fiddle. I might say, long time no see, but your son and your wife took someone that I love like a son. They took one of the best warriors I had and now I have been left with the question of what I need to do with them.
"You have to make a choice, Seojoon. Recall the treaties you betrayed, recall all the banishment against the rogues, recall all the damn fuckign rules that make rogues instant enemies of Obren, and maybe—
"—Just maybe I may bring you back your son, since I know you don’t care too much for Eunbi. Refuse and you will watch your son die, and I will make sure that you watch it from that very throne of yours.
"So which will it be?" the rogue queen asked, even though she knew that she was asking for the impossible.
Her demands were insane and any name king was the only one who could agree to it. This woman was giving the king a choice and at the same time, she wasn’t. The king had to choose between his son and his wife, and he had to choose between his family and his kingdom.
Those were dangerous choices because no matter what he chose, he was going to lose.
"You look beautiful, covered in blood, Paloma. Did you know that I also have someone you care so much about?" King Seojoon said and Queen Paloma just laughed at him.
The rogue queen never had anything to lose.
She never had someone that she would fight for other than Kim Rania.
She had nothing and over the years, she had managed to get a family of her own. So did he have, that made the king so confident?
"Nice try, but make the choice, won’t you? We don’t have all day, because as it stands, your son killed my warrior and best friend. It’s only fair that we take his life for what he did. But we are giving you the choice right now.
"It’s courtesy, and if I were you, I would take it," Paloma said confidently and this time, it was Seojoon’s turn to laugh at her.
"Well then, how about we trade a son for a son, and then we can talk about the rest later?" the king said as he brought forth a young boy who looked nothing more than a six-year-old.
He was too familiar, way too familiar and for the first time, Paloma faltered, and dropped her weapons in shock. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. There had to be a mistake somewhere because there was just no way that this was real, right?
Seojoon was good at getting warlocks do magic for him, so there was just no way that this was happening, no?
"What?" Paloma shakily forced out.
"Mimi, I’m scared," the boy said and Paloma felt herself stiffen.
There was only one person in the goddamn universe who ever called her Mimi, but just because he never knew how to pronounce mama since he had learned to speak.
"Vijay?"
