Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 280: Perhaps It Was The Only Choice
[RANIA]
Hours had gone by, and Rania had yet to receive any confirmation from her mate that he would want to come to the ceremony tomorrow. She was worried and frankly, a part of her was scared of what tomorrow would be like for her.
Alphas only ever had one mate for their entire life, and the unfortunate fact that her mate had been the engineer of her pain didn’t exactly sound as comforting to Rania as anyone would expect.
Granted, there was an ounce of remorse in Jihoon for how things had gotten, but would the remorse make things better?
Would his remorse give her the closure she needed?
Tomorrow was her birthday and that in itself was something that Kim Rania had to come to terms with. She knew she was bound to Jihoon for the rest of her life and as much as it was a curse, she down there wasn’t a thing on the face of the earth that she would do.
She just had to hope that it would be better. And so for the night, Kim Rania lay in her bed, thinking of what the midnight moon would give to her.
She had made sure that her birthday party wasn’t at night, because there was a special loneliness that came with receiving terrible news in the night. It was the kind that made the night longer and the mornings farther.
Rania was sure Park Jihoon would reject her when her birthday came, given everything she had done to him. Well, he had done worse to her, but who was counting, right?
Retribution was in the process and no matter what happened, Rania wasn’t going to stay crying over milk that had already been skilled. If this was how her life got fucked over, then she was ready to face it all.
Besides, she had friends who would be with her through and through. Oh, Rani.
"Fuck," Rania whispered when the moon was high up in the sky.
She had finally turned twenty-five, but where was the thrill that came with a new birthday?
Where was the excitement she had once felt all those years ago?
Where was the happiness she had been showing earlier in the day and that she had been determined to make a reality?
Unable to sleep, Kim Rania got up and went to her window. She could see the moon shining beautifully. She could see that everything was going right, but why did she feel so scared of what tomorrow would hold?
She could hear the royals whining in the dark cold dungeons, and she wished that she could hear Jihoon’s vice.
But even that never came.
Incayon was pretty in the night, and it was a beautiful sight for the lonely girl at the windows. A few wolves were walking around, but they weren’t worried about anything. The Warriors were making the usual patrols.
Earlier, Kaia’s hybrids had joined in since they had brought in more dangerous people. But even with that security, Kim Rania felt her heart weakening desperately at what she would have to face tomorrow.
"Maybe it will be better if he rejects me, right?" Rania said it herself, before making a decision that was either so crazy, so brave, or one that proved just how broken she was. She couldn’t hold the anxiety in and couldn’t handle the panic she was getting from not knowing.
Quietly she walked out of her room, making sure not to wake up anyone who was sleeping in the pack house. Well, it was mostly her friends, the rogue warriors, and the hybrid warriors who weren’t on their shift.
Even then, she was careful.
Just because she was having a shitty night, didn’t mean she could go out there and make the others have a shitty night too.
"The worst he can do is reject me, right?" Rani said to herself as she walked in the direction of the dungeons. The stench was still there, and the whispers could be heard as she walked across.
The dungeons were filled with other prisoners from Incayon who had failed to follow the rules and with the addition of the royals, there was more than she could handle.
The wolves were whispering as she walked and headed toward where Jihoon and Daehyun were.
She was determined to make sure that this ended tonight. So when she passed the place where the royals had been stacked up in, when she saw how broken and bruised they still were, Rania couldn’t help but wonder when she had become this cruel.
However, that didn’t matter now, because it wasn’t like she was going to take back everything she had done. No matter what the world was about to give to her, she was ready. But if that was so, what was she doing in the dungeons then?
"Hi," Rania greeted when she reached where Jihoon and Daehyun were. She could see them sleeping, but she also knew that her scent was enough to alert them that she was her. However, even as she stood there, there wasn’t a response from them.
At first, she thought they were ignoring her, but then the longer she stared at the duo, the more she realized that they truly didn’t know she was there. So she went to Daehyun who was the closest to the entrance of the dungeon and blew air into his ear continuously.
Thankfully that was enough to wake him up.
Rania expected Daehyun to look at her with eyes of spite for everything, but his eyes were empty. There were no emotions there. Almost like I was done trying to understand what the fuck was happening there.
Rania felt her heart break again, at the sight. She had known Daehyun to be a loyal friend and he could have made a loyal bet too. But there was just so much bad blood between Calindra and Rania for them to ignore.
"Please wake him up," Rania said and Daehyun just sighed before tapping his best friend who was sleeping. They seemed to have gotten used to the shit in there and were done fighting it.
Perhaps they had figured that if they didn’t fight back, there would be a lower sentence. Or maybe they had seen that Rania had brought in the royals too.
Maybe that was when they realized that forgiveness was never going to be offered to them and that the sooner they faced that reality, the sooner they would all be on their way, right?
"Hey, brother. Your mate is here," Daehyun said tiredly to his brother who was huddled up in the corner.
Jihoon had lost a lot of weight.
Earlier, Rania had seen that and failed to comment on it, because she knew this was mostly her fault. The man she had been in love with and ended up getting mated to, was suffering and it was because of how horrible they had been to each other.
Here and now, Rania could only wish that things would get better for the both of them once she was done with her vengeance. Maybe they would move on and embrace new ventures. But with a kingdom that Rania herself was setting on fire, what could be left there?
"What?" Jihoon asked as he rubbed his eyes.
"Reject me," Rania said, earning gaps and loud murmurs in the dungeons.
Everyone had been listening to her.
