Chapter 306: His Love, Her Light [4]

[RANIA]

"You don’t understand. WAR is coming to Incayon. The king called for help from all the Obren allies, including pack warriors, vampires, and the warlocks of the valley of the Whites. They are coming to Incayon.

"That is the war that is coming here," Odelia said and Rania’s eyes lit up in excitement, like she had waited for this her whole life. The others were a tad bit worried, but she was busy cheering silently like this was easily what she had wished for for a long time.

She didn’t care about anything other than war and maybe that made her an insane ruler, but wasn’t that where she was headed at the end of the day?

"Well, how far are they?" Rania asked and her friends looked at her like she was bonkers.

Tonight was supposed to be a beautiful one for her and it had been ruined yet her worries and excitement were all focused on the enemies that would be trying to breach their brothers. This was wild.

"They are six days away. They have huge armies and would do whatever it takes to get the king and the royals out of here," Odelia said and Rania just let out a dark chuckle.

People always had dreams and this one had to be a wild one, if the realm had decided to pay attention to coming at Kim Rania, when she had just been freshly mated, ruining her day like it was the easiest thing for them to do, when all she wanted was to run her swords through them.

"That is a lot of time for me. Come, let’s go to sleep. No one will breach our brothers anyway," Rania said nonchalantly and her friend just stared at her.

There was something about Rania’s acceptance, something about the way she handled herself when the chaos was near, that spelled too much anger.

A calm Rania was more dangerous than a Rania that always wanted war and that much they had to pay attention to. If anything, this was their chance to make right most of the things that had been fucked But would they?

If anything, were they even interested in that at the moment?

"Rani—"

"We can’t keep hiding because people are coming for us. We all knew that going in and we knew that there would be worse missions than the last. It is something we have to be ready for at all times.

"We can’t keep being worried about who did what and when what will happen. War is coming and we have always known that. That is no longer surprising. But we cannot win a war if we are zombies.

"We cannot win a war when we are mentally and physically tired. That has never happened. Besides, there is no point in worrying too much. We are the misfits of Incayon. We were never born to fit in and that is okay. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"And that also gives us the advantage. I want to avenge Oshita at my best, not when I’m a red princess in a long birthday gown. Shall we?" Rania said, the truth in her voice hitting them a little too hard.

This was who they were, and no matter what they tried to change, nothing would change the fact that people were coming for them because of their histories. They had ever been saints and they were about to start today.

The earlier they accepted that the sooner they would be able to find their footing after the war.

"But what if they use portals?" Dalrae asked, clearly worried for her sister.

"As the high warlock of the Valley of the Whites, they can’t come through as long as my magic is in the barrier. So we won’t have anything to worry about. Besides, no one has ever beaten the Seto magic, ever.

"Let’s go sleep, tomorrow we can deal with everything then," Han said calmly and Dalrae understood him.

This was the war they were going to and while it may have to be just them on the battlefield, they had to get some rest and let tomorrow handle itself. That much was what they could say about this.

"How are you, Odelia?" Paloma asked when they had finally agreed to go get some rest.

Funny how they had been so vocal about sleeping and yet they were still seated at the ceremonial session talking about their lives like they didn’t already know that there was a danger coming for them.

But did they even care about whatever danger was headed their way?

"I’m not exactly fine, but I did mourn. If that is what you are asking. I know Oshita was important to you too. But I am fine. I miss him, sure. However, I also know he would be disappointed if we went to war and lost because we brewer focused on him.

"He sacrificed himself to help us bring the bastards down, and we will do just that. I don’t care if we have to be the worst of devils ourselves, to make that happen, but we will make that happen," Odelia said with conviction.

She really had spent a lot of time trying to come up with a good reason as to why Jungwoo could have killed her mate.

But to this day, she still had none, and frankly, the temptation to ask Jungwoo about it was so intense, but Odelia also knew that Jungwoo wouldn’t be honey with her.

The tensions had already started piling up in Incayon and the longer they started on the sidelines and started going back to what they couldn’t fix, the longer it would take them to get back to their normal lives, whatever that was anyway.

"At least you are honest," Paloma said and Odelia just needed her understanding.

"Do we really have to go to sleep in our beds? Can’t we just make a god set up her and sleep? I am so tired my feet can’t even move," Rania said and they looked at her curiously. Of course, they own that they could either be her wild expiration at best.

However, they also could tell that she didn’t want to leave and go to bed when there was danger coming.

Sure, she was confident in their safety, but she wanted them to be out here just in case someone came and tried shit with them. She wanted to be ready to defend her people with her life.

Oh, how she was cursed with horrible mating balls. But at least this one wasn’t as bad as the other one.

"You all will be safe, krushka. Let’s go to bed. No one will breach the barriers, don’t worry," Kaia said as he kissed the nape of Rania’s neck, making her lean into him.

Their friend knew he was trying to calm down her anxious wolf and for a while, it worked.

That was all that they needed anyway.

"Whoever wakes up first, should wake us all up," Rania said and they all nodded in agreement, even though a part of them knew they would be sleeping the whole day away. That was always what happened after long days of celebration or even going to missions.

"Yes, we will, sister. Now go with your mate, you guys deserve to get some rest for all that has happened in the past few days," Dalrae said and Rania just nodded in agreement.

"I guess it’s goodnight then, huh?"

"Yup and I want to be woken up last," Han volunteered before they all let out laughs.

It was ironic because Han Seong was always the one waking everyone up. You would think that he was paid to do that for a living.

He was always the first one up and the last one to bed. It was a habit he had developed over the years, worrying about a brother who thought he had never wanted anything to do with him.

Fate was sometimes sinister, but isn’t that what everyone had to go through at the end of the day?

"Yes, Han. we will definitely wake you up at last, if you don’t make yourself up first," Paloma teased and Han just pouted at them. Well, there was truth to what theta had just said, not that he would admit it anyway.

"Yeh yeah, let’s get some much-needed rest, shall we?" Kaia said and they all turned to tease him and Rania as they walked towards the pack house.

They all looked so happy, and for a moment, Kaia dared to hope that everything would be alright, but he knew it wasn’t because as they walked away, Han had noticed familiar blue eyes staring at them in the Incayon woods.
