Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 308: The Light At The End Of The Tunnel
[DRARUN]
[The Previous day]
For months, King Nathaniel, his brother, Bai Ting, his scouts, and his lead warrior, Officer Kang searched the realm for the missing Seto twin. They were determined to find a way to make a deal with Kaisei Seto and it didn’t matter who they had to go through.
The fact that they were sure the other twin was out there, meant a lot because finally, King Nathaniel would get justice for his dead daughter. There were nights when all he did was mourn his little girl, the child who didn’t have to go through death twice.
The message from the Calindra Luna had been so precise and the fact that it had stated that Yanna had died twice in the hands of Kim Rania had fucked him up a little bit.
He had failed to know where his daughter was and when she came back to life he still had nothing to show for the father he had been. Hell, he hadn’t even talked to his daughter. Nathaniel felt like his whole world was collapsing on its own.
Everything was just crazy and he was greatly frustrated.
"Nate, we have some news!" Bai Ting said as she rushed into the throne room where his brother usually sat, wondering if the crown would have to be the price that his little girl had paid.
Power was something and the fact that he was aware of how dangerous Kim Rania was, made him think that maybe, he would have to step down and go deal with the woman himself.
It was a risky mission, one that even he was sure he wouldn’t ever be able to come from.
However, at the end of the day, what else was there for him?
Over the years, the vampire King had been calm and unbothered because he never had anything to lose.
He couldn’t fight for Eunbi because the moon goddess had already made the choice for them and he couldn’t exactly convince Paloma to come with her rogues and live in Drarun.
All of that just didn’t make any sense to him, and for that, he had stayed an unbothered King. A King who murdered people and ruined their lives because he could and he didn’t give two shits about the repercussions.
The vampire King was a terrible and dangerous man even in his silence. However, from the day he had learned that his daughter had been murdered twice by the same woman, he had gotten another mission.
Vengeance.
He wasn’t going to seek justice because nothing would give him closure than the fact that he managed to kill the most elusive and dangerous werewolf alpha in the history of all werewolves. The cruel psycho alpha, Kim Rania.
"What is it this time?" the vampire King asked his excited brother who looked like he had gotten the catch of the day.
King Nathaniel knew that the answers would remain the same as the past few months; his brother always came up with good ideas and they both ended up being disappointed. So without even looking at his brother, the King listened.
"We found Yanagida Seto," Bai Ting said to his brother who instantly turned his attention to him.
Of all the things that the vampire King had been expecting, this was by far the least of them. It was like a tornado was headed in his direction but this time, it wasn’t one he needed to run away from or even avoid.
But this was the tornado of hope, one that he would willingly wait for because, at the end of the day, this was what King Nathaniel had been hoping for for years, and the fact that he was finally getting it meant something.
Over the months it had just been his brother informing him of his deployed troops and their near success, but none had ever really come to him with a truth as certain. And now the tide was finally in his favor.
"Where is he?" King Nathaniel asked his brother who had finally made it to him.
The brothers looked at each other, their eyes shining with the hope of a new time, the how that finally they would be able to get someone who would go against Rania. Someone that Kim Rania would not have the balls to face.
Someone so peaceful and someone so dangerous; probably worse than Kim Rania was and that was perfection for them.
"Obren. Yanagida is in Obren," Bai Ting said with conviction. This had been the best thing that even he had heard today.
Perhaps he would celebrate the news later but until then, he had to prepare to leave because they didn’t know how long the good Seto twin would be in Obren. It was like they were dealing with a time-ticking bomb and goodness weren’t they hopeful about it anyway?
"I’ll go to him, alone. I don’t want Seto to hear about his brother from anyone else but me. That should give me the advantage I need to get him to help me avenge my little girl.
"And make sure that Rania never sees the light of day again," Nathaniel said and Bai Ting looked at him knowingly.
He had seen his brother go bonkers in the past from the desperation of where Yanagida was, and now that they finally had hope, he couldn’t blame his brother. But then he had to remind him what was at stake, because someone had to.
Bai Ting wasn’t about to lose his brother to another barbarian. He wasn’t ready for that, he would never be.
"You can’t do that. It’s literal suicide," Bai Ting said to his brother like it wasn’t obvious, but Nathaniel had made up his mind. Suicide or not, he was a desperate father, one who was willing to do whatever it took to make ends meet.
He was a father who wanted to be able to look at his child later on in the afterlife and tell her that he had done any and everything that could ever be done.
He was a father who was desperate to prove that he had tried his very best, and that more than anything, he had managed to beat the odds and get his daughter’s justice. He had to do this.
"I have to, brother. I have to go and see Yanagida or myself," Nate said and his brother just sighed.
"If you must go, then I will come with you. That is non-negotiable. I don’t care if we have to face the worst of the worst out there. I would much rather face it with you, than have you out there on your own, Nate.
"You have to let me go with you, or you won’t be leaving this Kingdom, brother," Bai Ting said with conviction, and the vampire King knew his brother wasn’t kidding.
He was sure his brother would do worse but before that, he wanted to make sure that he didn’t have much more to lose if he left.
"You do realize that Seojoon won’t take this lightly, yeah?" the King asked his brother who just shrugged.
However, he wanted to remind his brother of the King of hell who would be waiting for them on the other end of that road.
He had to make sure that they were on the same page, because otherwise, it would all just have been for nothing and that wasn’t what Nathaniel wanted right now.
"Which is why, we must hurry."
