Chapter 309: The Scraps of Hope? [1]

[DRARUN]

"You do realize that Seojoon won’t take this lightly, yeah?" the King asked his brother who just shrugged.

If they were going to the mad people’s den, then they would do it together. However, he wanted to remind his brother of the King of hell that would be waiting for them on the other end of that road.

He had to make sure that they were on the same page, because otherwise, it would all just have been for nothing and that wasn’t what Nathaniel wanted right now.

"Of course, which is also why we must hurry, brother. We need to be in Obren as soon as possible so as not to make things harder for ourselves. Besides, we have a lot of things to settle with that werewolf King.

"The sooner we get there, the sooner we make the deal with Yanagida and the sooner we will be able to get down to business with Rania and teach her an unforgettable lesson," Bai Ting said, reminding his brother of the stakes and how high they were.

Bai Ting had never been one to just rush into things but he had seen his brothers so desperate for literal months and this was the first real breakthrough they had. Ten months wasn’t a joke and he knew it too.

Perhaps he was also tired of seeing his brother so broken. Perhaps he wanted a version of his brother that was familiar, but then that in itself wasn’t going to be easy, especially given their current circumstances.

"I just hope that the hint you got this time will be real. I would hate to go on in circles again.

"We have lost far too much in the hands of the woman who doesn’t seem to be satisfied with our misery," King Nathaniel said and his brother just nodded, seeing as there was nothing else that he could do.

This was a long gamble and it would take a lot for them to come to terms with, but what mattered was that they got to the bottom of everything and more than anything, they got their vengeance. It was the only thing that was keeping the brothers sane enough.

"I trust the source this time," Bai Ting said to his brother and he looked at him sitting on the Drarun throne.

Bai Ting had never imagined that he would ever see the day when the crown would be so heavy for his brother to bear, yet he had witnessed that and more. He had seen his brother go to bed and not sleep.

He had seen his brother so devastated it was almost impossible to tell what was eating him up at any particular time.

The fact that King Nathaniel had even tried to reach out to Odelia for help and failed had discouraged him so much that he had felt like everything was just for nothing. Maybe that was the truth but maybe, just maybe, that hadn’t been the right time for them.

Then again, Odelia’s loyalty lay with Kim Rania and nothing would ever change that.

The King had even tried to make peace with Paloma, asking her to help him with the mission to Incayon or even deal with Rania.

"Oh Nate, this is one mission that I can’t help you with. You will have to do this on your own," Queen Paloma Mishra had straight-up told the King that she wouldn’t be able to help him, no matter what the offer was.

She had declined several offers from the Vampire King, even a seat at the Vampire high table, and that was a very powerful position.

For Rania, Paloma had declined power, which was something that she always thirsted for and that was also how the werewolf King knew that Kim Rania was powerful.

She had to have some wide reach if she had gotten to the rogue queen, a woman loyal to none. But then again this King had no idea that the rogue queen had sworn to protect the life of the kid that had saved her for years on end.

Banished or not, Paloma would always have a choice, and hers always lay with Rania too, just like every other ally that the vampire King could have tried to reach out to.

It was like he was paddling in muddy waters and the dirt was slowly proving to be too much for him. But was that really it for the vampire King?

"Great then. Let’s head out. This will perhaps be a chance for me and Seojoon to rekindle our friendship, especially now that we have a common enemy whose allies are equally as powerful if not more powerful than ours," King Nathaniel said as he walked with his brother into his chambers.

He knew that there was so much that he was risking and he knew there was a chance that Rania would retaliate and burn down Drarun. He knew what the risks were and yet even then he had insisted.

He had to see for himself who that woman was and what she really was like; not to mention how a young woman like her, had come to gain such a reputation. Hell, everyone knew of the takes of the psycho of psychos.

She was feared almost at the same level as Kaisei Seto. even though Rania with Dalrae was just a normal girl; fawning over the pretty little things and wanting to be a pretty girl. The contrast was so much and it was crazy.

"Yeah sure," Bai Ting said to his brother as they packed. He was opposed to what his brother was about to do, but then he knew his brother enough to understand that Nate wasn’t going to let this go.

The King had sworn to bring Rania to justice or do whatever it took to get his vengeance for his child. He didn’t care what the consequences would be and he was prepared to deal with them at a later time.

"My brother and I are going on a deep cover mission. You don’t need to know where, but we might need backup, so prepare an army on standby and let them know that if a raven comes, they will be needed to come in for support.

"Understood?" Bai Ting said to Officer Kang who was worried about the King, he did know what was going on with the vampire King, but even he could tell that it had something to do with his daughter.

"What about the Kingdom, sire?" Officer Kang asked and Bai Ting just looked at him as if to tell him to try and use his brains.

Then again there was a rule in Drarun, one that demanded that assumptions not be taken into play, because assumptions were dangerous.

And while it was obvious that Officer Kang was the one who would be in charge of the Kingdom, he needed the brothers to spell it out for him and his warriors.

"The Kingdom will be run by the military. You are the highest-ranking Drarun military officer other than Bai. So you will run the Kingdom. Make sure not to leave any messes alright," the King said and Officer Kang stood here in shock.

"Take care of our people, Kang. Make sure this is not a dictatorship, because we all know what I do to dictators, right?" the King said as he gently patted his officer’s back, before turning to his brother, signaling him that it was time for them to leave.
