Chapter 314: A Dance of The Lost Kingdom

[OBREN]

"—By the way, how come you don’t know this and you are a wolf too?" Ilsun asked the brothers who had managed to walk a few miles with them.

They had been so engrossed in whatever Ilsun had said that once again, they failed to respond when he asked them why they were so clueless about the kind of hell Obren had been in for months and months.

It was like they didn’t even go home; or maybe they were sent to come and try to get information out of them, but then that was father for the truth.

"Us? Well, Garam and I were sent to the human lands for a classified mission by the king, and we came back home because we hadn’t received any orders from the king in over three months.

"We were trying to get an explanation but were met with blank borders, not to mention it was like our home had changed and we had absolutely no clue about it," Bai Ting said, in the most earnest voice he could muster.

He knew he was walking shallow waters with this brother right now and the sooner they got to the bottom of this, the sooner they would be able to deal with their mission.

Maybe, just maybe they would capture Rania and restore the relationship between the vampires and the wolves.

"Well it must have really been some highly classified shit if you guys didn’t know about the situation at home," Ilsun sighed and the brothers just needed silence like they were not sure how to respond to that.

They were right not to because it was impossible that they would be able to understand the magnitude of the chaos that had been triggered.

They just had to wait it out and hope that the world would be a better place. But for how long? And why? What were they even hoping for at this point anyway?

"Now that the monarch is a mess, you can at least tell us. Was it the Rania mission?" Ilsun asked curiously and the brothers knew that this was a test.

But then what else could they do?

"It was a classified mission. The king will shave our heads if we disclose that. It’s why we even found our way back home because of the radio silence for months," Bai Ting said, trying to sell just how classified their mission had been.

It was what they had in mind, but whatever made the conversations go in the direction they wanted, right? Besides, there wasn’t much that they could lose at this point anyway.

"I kinda feel bad for you guys. There isn’t a king to answer to anymore because the royals were taken to Income by Kim Rania yesterday. No one knows how they are doing, or what their state is but everyone knows that the royals and Kim Rania’s prisoners.

"And that gives us all the more reasons to run away, before we become Rania’s collateral damage. There Is no telling what she will do to us, and we would very much like to avoid the chaos, as I mentioned earlier," Ilsun admitted and Nate just sighed.

Each statement he heard about Kim Rania made him wonder what the Kims had done to the goddess for them to be given such a devil of a kid.

She wasn’t what people would consider normal and it was worrying, even though Nate wasn’t her father. But he could not deny that this was disturbing on so many levels.

Either the Kims had messed this child up big time, or the goddess had just cursed them with a child that was worse than the devil. Hell, he wouldn’t be surprised if she and Kaisei were siblings.

And if everyone didn’t know that there was only one set of Seto twins, Nate could have easily concluded that Kim Rania was one of them. There was no other explanation for what had happened and how things were taking place at the moment.

"The king kidnapped? What the hell?" Bai Ting asked, though he, just like his brother, was starting to expect the worst from Kim Rania.

This woman was deadly and they were about to catch her? Was that even possible? She was crazy, that much was obvious but goddamn, shed some nerve turning Obren upside down.

"Yeah. The big bad king, the man we trusted all these years, turned out to be no match for the psycho of Obren. Who knew that she was that unhinged? She even had the Seto hybrids, Altunia rogues, and the high warlock, Han Seong help while at it.

"That woman got some powerful team with her; there is no defeating her. Goddess rest anyone’s soul in peace if they try to go after her," Ilsun said and the brothers looked at each other.

They surely had to have misheard him, right?

It was not possible that there were Seto hybrids on this side of the realm right?

Perhaps that was just another word for the hybrids.

Perhaps Ilsun was saying that because the hundreds were as cruel as Kaia, right? But who in the world knows how cruel Kaisei Chihiro was, when no one had set their eyes on the man for thousands of years?

It was like the man was a myth, but was he really?

"What do you mean by the Seto hybrids?" Nate asked the question that he knew he wouldn’t like the answer to. He could feel his wolf struggle;ign to come out, but the country that happened.

If there were Seto hybrids, then they were fucked and there was a chance they were Yanagida’s hybrids.

But then there was only one Seto twin that was considered humanity’s greatest evil.

A man who didn’t thirst for power, because he was the power. He was the ultimate creature of doom and hels be damned, he was the devil of all devils in the realm and beyond.

There was no telling what he had done, but right now, Nate was hoping for a different answer.

"Oh, you really have no clue what is going on here? Eh?" Ilsun asked again as they walked deeper into Obren and farther from the main roads, to avoid being spotted by Kim Rania’s chaos masters.

It wasn’t what they wanted, but they didn’t have much of a choice. Hence they traveled during the night and slept with one eye open during the day because they didn’t want to be collateral damage.

"I just find it hard to believe that the high warlock of the Valley of the Whites would want to be involved in the drama that is going on in Obren and even worse, help the psycho woman burn down the kingdom. It just does make any sense.

"And it’s unbelievable. The warlocks have no quarrels with Obren and have been neutral for eyes, and now you’re saying that the highway airlock came to our home to help a mad woman bring down the monarchy?

"Just sounds insane," Nate said and Ilsun sighed before gently patting Nate’s shoulder as if to tell him that the madness hadn’t even begun at full throttle yet.

There was so much they had no clue of but they would get there, eventually, just like the wolves who had been murdered by Rania over the past few months. So much was going on and frankly.

For a vampire king, Nate was doing terribly; trying to convince himself that he would get the answers he was seeking.

"You and the whole realm, brother—" Ilsun said sadly.
