Chapter 340: For You, I’d Risk It All

[RANIA]

With Hna Seong gone, Kaia had no reason to hold back. He had gotten tired of seeing the warriors playing around with the dead warriors. He had been trying to be sane for his brother, trying to make the world brighter because his brother was always pure at heart.

His brother deserved everything that was good and hells be damned, Kaia would give Haru the whole world to play with if he so desired it.

They may have been agemates, and old as time, but in Kaia’s eyes, Haru was always going to be his baby brother whether Haru was five thousand years old or not. And he would always protect his brother from the dangers of the world.

Of course, if anyone would ask what he would do for Rania, seeing as they were mates, well, his mate was different, because his mate was just as wild as him. They both had a passion for the dark life, which made it even more obvious as to why they had been paired together.

They were two devils that belonged with each other and the dark side of the world was like home to them so it didn’t exactly matter who they killed, because at the end of the day, they would share the joys and pains of whatever they had done.

But until then, they had to turn everything a notch higher, mate that would make it make sense even more.

"Baby, the warriors need to rest, don’t you think?" Kaia suggested knowing that that was what Rania had been thinking.

She was worried about her people being fatigued and losing their morale. They had fought eight thousand warriors and won, there was really nothing they couldn’t do anymore.

"They need to eat first before anything. They did well today and deserve to get enough rest," Rania added with pride as she watched the last of the revolutionary warriors fall, and her people cheer on.

They had won.

They had won the great war.

It had been long and excruciating.

It had been stressful and yet even then her people had won. And there wasn’t a thing that Rani would have wished for more than anything.

Her army of misfits had won her the great war, and she would do the remaining heavy lifting.

"Look at them, so happy that they murdered their fellow warriors," Brent said and Rania threw a fork in his eye, making sure that it went deeper into his skull. She did not appreciate anyone trying to talk shit about her people who had shown up for her when she had no one.

She would always defend Incayon, just like she had always done, even when Incayon didn’t want her. Now that incayon had rallied for her and loved her, there was no doubt that Rani would burn the world for them.

Rania didn’t care, as long as her people were safe, and maybe that made her a cruel and selfish ruler, but then she was just an alpha looking after her people.

"Anyone else have something to say about my warriors who kicked the asses of your near-ten thousand warriors? Anyone?" Rania asked through it, wanting more of asking but daring them to come forward and say shit.

They would probably end up with a fate worse than Brent anyway.

"I thought so," Rania said with a smirk when she noticed that none of them was so courageous anymore. They were just making her feel a lot of things that didn’t make any sense to her. She would always stand up for her people. Always.

"Paloma and I will take care of the warriors, you stay here and make sure that everything is alright," Odelia said and they all just nodded in agreement. Even Rania who was always ready to say something was silent this time.

"Are you okay?" Rania asked Dalrae who had been awfully silent the whole time.

She was feeling a lot of things as she saw the werewolf queen and King be exposed like that. Somehow she could feel her heart constricting and her tears well up each time there was a mention of Junghwa and she was sure she was not alright.

Of course, she couldn’t tell that to her sister who was always worried for her.

She couldn’t come clean and tell Rania that she was feeling strange pain each time the royals were tortured. It was something that even she couldn’t explain and she wanted to leave the other empathy.

But was it just that?

Dalrae had never been one to care for anyone other than Rania and for the first time she felt like there was so much wrong with her just standing there and watching the prisoners be hurt like that.

One little skid and the prisoners would be dead by the hangman’s noose.

It wasn’t a pretty sight.

"No, Rani. I don’t feel so good," Dalrae admitted defeatedly, and that was all it took for Rania to get up from Kaia’s lap and rush to her sister.

Just like Kaia and Haru, Rania was super protective of her sister and she didn’t care what happened as long as her sister was okay.

"Are you hungry? Do you need to eat something specific? Do you want to sleep? Should I take you to the nurse at the infirmary? Is it a headache? A stomach ache? Is it because of the blood around?

"I’m so sorry Lim Lim. Sorry, I didn’t pay enough attention to you. Tell me, what is wrong?" Rania asked worriedly, forgetting that her sister already had a mate who would protect her.

Well, Chang Wook would get his time, because even he knew that no one would ever come between the sisters of doom, even if they were mated or not.

"I— I just can’t stay here anymore. The screams, the pain, the anger. I can’t Rani, it’s too much for me. I thought I would be fine as the screams quieted down, but now I feel like it’s all in my head, and I can’t seem to let them go.

"It’s chaotic in my head and I think I’m going insane," Dalrae admitted again and Rania felt a stab in her heart.

She had known her sister so well and why the war was something Dalrae was fine with going to, she had never been one to love the screams and shit.

When they had gone to Calindra, Rania had made sure that Kaia cast a spell on her so she didn’t hear the screams and today, she had forgotten. Which was something that would always haunt her.

"It’s okay love. It really is okay. I can come with you and let the boys handle this. I can find a way to take the pain away. I can make it stop, I just need some time. I can always lock them up in the dungeons again, sister.

"The world can wait, as long as you want it to. Just say the word and all of this will be wrapped up," Rania said earnestly, with Dalrae knowing so well that she was Kim Rania’s weakness, just as Rania was her weakness.

She was sure her sister would back up if that was what was needed, but then if Rania did pack up with now, it would mean that there would be another season of screamers in their home and that wasn’t something Dalrae wanted to hear again.

"You worked so hard for this, Rani. I’ll go with Chang Wook—" Dalrae said.
