Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 339: Always, Haru, With All Of Me
[RANIA]
"I see. While we are at it, why didn’t you tell your sister over there that you are the firstborn son of the Kim family, huh?
"Might as well enjoy together as an actual family, not this warrior healer best friend shit you’re pulling yeah?" the werewolf King said and that’s all it took for Chang Wook to throw his sword a little too close to King Seojoon’s heart, shutting him up instantly.
He wasn’t ready for that topic and he knew that it would cause a division among his friends and family. There were many that knew what the truth had been and even then they had stayed silent because Chang Wook hadn’t been ready to come clean to his sister.
It was something he couldn’t explain easily and now the bastard King was trying to interfere with that? He wouldn’t let him. No one was going to mess up his relationship with his sister no matter what the circumstances were.
"You talk too much, for a King," Chang Wook said as she went back to focus on the wolves being tortured before them. He knew it was a tricky situation and that Kim Rania wouldn’t let it go, but just this once he wished his sister would find him.
Well, that could have been easier if Kim Rania was dumb, but the young alpha lycan wasn’t dumb. She knew Chang Wook so well and while she may have assumed that the King was trying to set them apart, if it had been a lie, her brother wouldn’t have reached in any way.
If anything Chang Wook would have ignored him. But he hadn’t.
Instead, he struck the King near the heart, making it hard for the man to breathe, like he wanted to kill the King but he couldn’t exactly do it without selling his wife the secret he had kept for years.
"Don’t let him bother you. He’s probably trying to connect the dots on how Jungwoo and Yanna are siblings and yet have different fathers," Rania said with a cough, like she wasn’t affected, but deep down, she could feel her rage building.
If there was anything Rania hated more than anything, it was secrets from each other.
She trusted these people with her life, and if they started keeping secrets from each other then it would just be a matter of time before their team was divided and Rani didn’t want that.
"I wouldn’t blame the man. Having your best friend fuck your mate isn’t exactly screaming friendship goals you know," Odelia said and this time Han Seong let out a laugh out of the blue.
It was like he was tired of who they had become and yet he wanted to see how long they would manage being this shell of what they all were.
They were good people, kind people who deserved everything the world could offer, and yet right now they were watching as their warriors fed on fellow warriors, people who had come to fight to reclaim their home.
War was sick, that much was obvious, but another fact that Han Seong knew was that none of them would ever be the same again.
There was a kind of emptiness that came with having to live in a world that was so empty, the King that came with an emotionless team and one that came with the reality hitting a little too hard than they had wished for.
And the Seto brother was already feeling the brunt of it all.
"Haru, are you okay?" Kaia asked worriedly as he looked at his brother. He knew his brother well and this was one of the signs that his brother was a little too close to a mental breakdown. It wasn’t a pretty sight, but then he had to hope that he would be okay.
After all, there wasn’t much they could do right now, other than hold each other’s arms through the pain they were silently enduring as the links were cut from the general Obren connection. It was cruel, but after that needed to be seen through and through.
"Me? I’m fine. Never been better," Han Seong responded and his brother was still worried.
"You can sleep, Haru. I’ll take care of things here, alright?" Kaia said and Han’s eyes brightened like it was just him and his brother in their own cruel world yet the one place where they understood each other.
"But what if you need me? I can’t get up and leave Rani like that," Han asked and Kaia let out a chuckle as if to comfort his brother.
Of course, he knew how loyal Han was to Rania and he knew that he wouldn’t want anything happening to the woman they had saved one too many times. It just didn’t make it any easier and the longer they postponed it, the worse it could get.
"She’s a lycan now, Haru. She can handle herself even better than before. Besides, we’ll be here with her. So go, little brother. Go get some rest without worrying about either of us.
"The worst we can do is burn one down, but I don’t think it will get to that point, alright?" Kaia said and his brother just nodded in understanding.
Han has always been the first to wake up every single day and he was always the last to go to sleep.
He was always on the lookout despite his brother telling him that it was okay and right now, he was tired, very tired of letting things happen like they had, he was mentally exhausted and there was no telling what would happen to him if he kept holding on.
He needed to get that sleep and soon otherwise he would have a mental breakdown again and burn all the pack leaders like he had ruined the twenty warlocks that Brent had come with.
"Come here,’’ Kaia said to his brother, who didn’t hesitate to go to him. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
It was like Kaia’s arms were the safest for him.
So when his brother opened his right arm for him to go to, Han didn’t waste any time, such were the times he wanted to be the youngling his brother saw him as, and perhaps he would be just that, because he didn’t have to be the one taking care of everyone anymore.
His brother was back and he was good at caring for people that he cared about.
"Promise me you’ll go to sleep, Haru. And I mean sleeping, not sleeping with one eye open," Kaia said when his brother was in his arms.
Oh it reminded him of the previous years when they just had each other and spent their time reassuring each other that they were never going to be alone in the world that was so huge. They always had each other and that was something that they had never let go.
"I’ll sleep, I promise. Besides, you’ll always take care of me anyway,’’ Han said playfully as the prisoners watched in awe and surprise at the interaction between the Seto brothers.
"I love you so much, brother. And you did well today, my little Haru. But you have to let me take care of you too," Kaia said as he kissed his brother’s hair, a habit he had never let go from the moment they could communicate with each other in their childhood.
"Always?"
"Always, Haru, with all of me," Kaia said before shooting his brother to leave.
When his brother left, Kaia’s eyes changed from the light blue ones, to absolute black, a reminder that his kycn had taken over.
