Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 348: Of Changed Fates
[RANIA] 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Unlike what had been expected Alpha Kim didn’t even waste time. He could see the agony on his children’s faces and he knew that this wasn’t the right time.
So, without saying a word, the alpha left, not even looking back because he was haunted by the pain on his children’s faces.
Alpha Kim was aware that forgiveness would take a while and while that was something he was hoping to work for there was a chance that his children didn’t even care whether he was on their side or not.
He had hurt them in so many ways and there was just no way they would forget that just because daddy dearest came and said he was trying to protect them.
His kids could protect themselves, as something that they had been forced to learn the hard way, especially when the world seemed to be against them.
"Are you sure you wanna stay here?" Rania asked Dalrae once her father was gone. She was going to proceed with the execution and she didn’t want Dalrae to be here to witness this.
She needed her sister safe and away from the emotional turmoil and if that meant that just her and Kaia would deal with the royals then she would do it.
For Dalrae, Rania was more than willing to do whatever it took. She wasn’t going to think it over. It was a given already.
"No, I’ll go back. Just make sure that you don’t hurt yourself, please," Dalrae pleaded with her sister who knew that this was important to Dalrae.
Rania would do whatever her sister requested and so once again, the female Lycan watched as her sister and brother left, while she and her mate were left behind again.
With the new realization, Rania knew she had to make another decision, one they would change the course of everything.
"Bring Daehyun down," Rania said and Jihoon froze. He knew that Rani was still mad at him and he knew that Daehyun was the one person that Jihoon would go to war for.
He would turn the realm upside down for this brother but then without an army to help him, without anything that he would counter with, would he ever be able to protect his brother? Especially since they were all with nooses around their necks?
It wasn’t exactly the most ideal of times, but hells be damned, Rania knew that this was not going to be easy. She knew what everyone was thinking but right now, she just didn’t care to look further into it.
It didn’t matter that her whole world had changed and that she could change someone’s life for the worse. What she could do at the moment, was hope for the better.
"As you wish, my love," Kaia said as he cut the rope from Daehyun’s neck.
That action made the Calindra beta fall on the podium and through the part where he was supposed to have fallen when he lost consciousness and the life withers away as the noose tightened around his throat.
However, there was no such thing at the moment because right now, Kaia had released him, and the noose on his neck had also been removed. Even then, that didn’t mean that Kaisei would treat him any better.
He had been integral to everything that happened and honestly, there wasn’t anything that could change his mind and that of his mate.
They were meant to run this shit show.
"What’s happening? Where am I?" a subconscious Daehyun said as he slowly came to terms with his reality, he knew that this wasn’t going to be easy, and honestly, he knew he was better off dying than being here with their friends waiting to be tortured.
The torture methods of Incayon were brutal and given they had been designed by the Kim house it was more than obvious that no one was meant to function properly after the torturer. That much was a given.
Right now, the one thing that they could do was hope that things would be okay. However, what version of okay would they ever be okay with? Which part of the life they had lived would make any sense to them at the moment?
"You are our first target," Kaia said as he dragged Daehyun to the ground to where Rania was.
Kaia had a sinister smile on his face, especially given his eyes were still black. He had let his beasts take over and that in itself was the ultimate nightmare for anyone who tried to do anything that could ruin their lives.
Kaisei Seto just didn’t give two shits about anything right now, save for pleasing the woman he was mated to and the woman he had sworn to love and protect.
They could figure out everything else later but until then it was time for them to get up and face their truths, right?
"Oh, okay," Daehyun’s aid defeatedly. He was mentally prepared for whatever the hell was waiting for him. He didn’t have the heart to fight anymore because he had seen their warriors fall like flies.
Their people had come with an army that was ten times larger than the Incayon army and yet the Incayon army had defeated them in less than twenty-four hours. It wasn’t exactly the best of things right now, but then what else could they do.
He was just a part of the wheel of power and he wasn’t interested in anything other than having a way out of his misery. He was in so much pain it broke his heart over and over. Perhaps when he was dead all of this would stop hurting, right?
"Lee Daehyun, the beta of Calindra,’’ Rania said and Daehyun snickered.
He knew what he was, who he was but then he couldn’t even claim that title anymore because he had managed to successfully fail his people. He had managed to do nothing even though there had been options.
He could have convinced his brother to seek retribution from the moment he learned of the truth in that prince’s festival. But he hadn’t. He had just stayed silent and that was the one thing that haunted Daehyun more than anything.
He should have been better.
He should have fought back.
He should have been the warrior his people needed him to be. Instead, he was a coward who let himself be captured.
He wasn’t sure what the hell was going on but I hoped that his death would be a quick one to save him from the pain and agony of whatever the fuck was going on with him at the moment. Perhaps there was a way out, but was there?
"Yup, that’s me, Your Royal Highness. Let me guess, I get a spear in the heart? A fork in my eye? A severed neck broken bone? A threat to never look back?
"A time to greet your mom? Or maybe I get to be with my fallen people in the afterlife?" Daehyun asked, his voice coming off lightly even though he could feel everything coming to a stop.
He had been trying to live through the pain but even he knew he was just human at the end of the day. He knew that it would be too crazy a decision, but then I was way better than whatever the hell Rania had planned for him, right?
"Actually, no. You are going back to the Incayon dungeons," Rania said and Daehyun groaned in dissatisfaction.
What the hell was Kim Rani planning?
