Chapter 358: The Love From The Unexpected

[RANIA]

"What the hell are you doing here alive? I sealed the crypt myself. I saw your body. I saw you burn, I have the damn fucking ashes to prove it," a scared Rania said, before Oshita realized that she was going into shock and that he had triggered her panic attacks.

She had been there when the tables had turned.

She had seen the chaos erupt and she had engineered them on her own.

Her world had come to a standstill when she lost him and now she could see him again?

What the hell was this and how the fuck was she supposed to come to terms with a reality so twisted?

Perhaps it was her way of coping, but even the heavens knew that she had coped enough. She had lost too much in the war and she would have to worry and make sense of the situation.

However, how long was that even supposed to be when she wasn’t sure what she could do at the moment?

"Easy there, Rani. I am here, and I know it’s surprising. But you have to trust me sister.

"I need you to calm down before anything else, because if you didn’t, with your new powers, you could light up the whole of Obren," Oshita wanted and Rania looked at him like there was more to be known.

There was always going to be more when it came to them.

Life hadn’t been all rosy and shit, and they knew that no matter what happened, they would have to try and figure this out. They had been through the worst of the worst together, but this was the one surprise that even Kim Rania wasn’t ever going to be prepared for.

It was like a call from the wild bushes, one that she was not expecting and one that’s wasn’t sure how to react to.

Her whole world had taken a pause when she lost her best friend and seeing him here was just making her wonder what the hell they had been this desperate for.

"You—"

"I’m as real as I can get. Don’t worry about me, I’m not leaving you again. Not ever. Your father made a bargain with the goddess. He asked her to take his life and in return, he asked her to bring me back to life.

"This was the one trade that even I had never expected and it’s not filled with resentment or anything, Rani; this is real. Alpha Kim gave his life for mine.

"And he said to tell you that you were always, always his favorite child, after Chang Wook," Oshita said as he watched Rania breathe slowly.

She was regaining her consciousness and her abilities but goddamn, that wasn’t the kind of shock she had ever been prepared for. It was almost like a version of hell that didn’t sit well with them, but then what else could they do?

The world was surely determined to be flowery and shit and all they had to do was to wait it all out. Perhaps there would be a way out of this, right? Well, there were a lot of maybes.

"I missed you so much. I mourned you for months. Life failed to have meaning, and now—" Rania said as she looked at Oshita.

She knew that this had to be crazy, but her whole life was a circus. So, her best friend coming back to life wasn’t something that was going to shock her as much.

The fact that he had mentioned Chang Wook being her brother should have checked her but then nothing ever shocked Rania anymore. She had done her homework on her family line.

She had investigated the vague death of her brother and she had managed to locate him in the human lands.

That was one of the many reasons she had chosen to go back to the human lands and create situations in which her brother would be forced to come to her rescue. And as it was, she had managed to get to him accordingly.

Granted, she knew that the fates would have played around with their birth and made it seem like there wasn’t much to save or even a bond in the first place but then here they were, the Kim siblings who had managed to find their way back home.

Perhaps in that very manner, Rania would find what she had promised Dalrae. She would find her family, even if it was the last thing she did for her best friend. She was in love, and Dalrae deserved a family like everyone else.

Granted, they were their own family, and that it was the kind of desire that came with biological families.

Rania had always believed that Dalrae’s family was a secret, one that was worth finding and once the war was completely over, she would find them for her. She would keep the promise she made to her sister.

She would make sure the moon shone brighter on Dora’s stars. Because her sister deserved all that and more. She deserved everything that was pretty and even the heavens knew that Dalrae deserved all the love the world could offer.

Rania was going to get that for her.

She would make it all make sense. But until the she still had to make sense of how the fuck her father had made the trade. What the hell was in it for the man?

Alpha Kim had to be the most selfish man that Rania knew and now that she was hearing that her father had made the trade, it seems like an impossible bargain. With her father, there was always a catch.

There was always something to hope for, something to wait for, something to be on the lookout for, and most of the time, Rania knew that hers wasn’t the bond that would save her.

Her parents were terrible people and their bonds with each other were on several accounts more than terrible.

At least that much they are aware of.

"My father? The same man who abandoned me gave up his life for yours? That’s unbelievable. He must be wanting something," Rania said as she paced around her room.

It took everything in her not to flicker the lights on, despite the urge to see for herself if this really was Oshita.

Rania believed that the world in itself was something else and she knew that there was always a price to pay, but would she be ready to pay that price for the life of Oshita?

Would it make her feel any better about the situation, if her world came apart and she had to be the one person they all turned to?

What else was this supposed to mean for her?

Who was she supposed to be when the stars ripped through her faith and she was back to being the one girl they all didn’t understand again?

Would they be fine with it?

Would her parents step forward and claim her this time?

Oh, but there were so many things that could have happened. So much could have gone wrong and yet as the general looked at her best friend, she couldn’t help but hope that everything would be easier for them, and better like what they had all prayed for. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"He said it as the only way to show you that he loved you even to the end," Oshita said and Rania slumped on her bed. This was just too much for her to bear.
