Aria POV

Looking at the way Jaxon acted all crazy, I decided that I should just give him a little space before he ruins me with his questions and keeps assuming that if I am not beside him, he would want to die. I rushed out of his room and straight into mine. Only to see my mom already sitting there waiting for me with her hands folded and, of course, her fixed mouth plastered on her face as she tapped her side on the bed.

"Come and join me," she muttered as I stood there for a while before rolling my eyes.

"I have no plans of sitting beside you. You know all this is your fault. If you wanted to have a relationship with a rich man, you could do that for yourself. You shouldn’t have just involved me in this. Now do you see what is happening here right now? I am now engulfed with his son, and it makes absolutely no sense at all," I said to her, hoping she would understand.

But she still continued to tap her side on the bed.

"Just come and sit down. That is why I am here. We need to talk. Okay? Whatever we talked about between his father and him is different now. We need to talk as mother and daughter. You need to understand that I am not doing this because of him alone. I also want to protect you. You think I would still agree for us to stay here despite seeing him transforming into a monster? I had ideas too. Before I accepted to be with him, I knew what I was getting into," she started as I murmured, "So annoying," to myself before sitting beside her. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

She placed her hands on my lap and looked at me for a while before looking away and sniffing in.

"You know how difficult it has been ever since I lost your dad. You know how I abstained from everybody, trying to keep to my word to him that I would take good care of you. But I was not capable anymore. I wanted to take you to the best school. I wanted you to have the best life. And to do that, I needed money. Jaxon’s father came to me. You know how Rick is. He told me he would do anything for me, and I accepted. You yourself should understand that our life began to change the minute I accepted to be his wife. Friends and other people around me who found out I was dating the all well, wealthy, and popular. Rick warned me that he was not normal. He was too powerful. That was why women are not able to last. I slowly began to fall in love with him. Aria, you too realized that I could not stay without him. And now I know I can compensate myself, and I can be a hit to be by his side. He needs someone by his side also. That is the reason why he is doing everything he does, and he cares for me. Most especially he loves me and is ready to do anything just to make me happy. Aren’t you happy for me? We would be wealthy, and I will be happy. At least I’m not with the man who beats me and who tortures me. He cares for me, and that is very important," she continued as I raised my hand into the air.

"Mom, you don’t need to make it so emotional. I understand, okay? I never said Rick was a bad person. He’s a very nice man. Yes, and he’s ready to do everything for you. I understand that part. But you see what is happening right now. Are you trying to say that I won’t be able to marry anybody else in the nearest future, but I have to stick to his son? You see how crazy his son is. His son is even much worse than he is, and I have to be around him at all times. If you were in my position, I am sure you would not want to do this," I said to her as she shrugged.

"For the meantime, you just have to be aids. When I first met Jaxon, he was never anything like that. And I know you two would get to know each other very well and know that he’s a very nice and caring someone. He cares for everyone and cares for anything. If he comes to care for you just as Rick did with me, I know you would not act this way. You would not even want to separate from him," she said as I could not help but laugh out loud.

"Mom, you are really going crazy. You are really following what they said. You are accepting this rubbish. You want me to be with him? Then what will people say about you? They would say because you had access to the father, and he clearly would will all his property to his son. So I had to hook his son too. Do you know what everybody would say? You know how human beings are. They would find every excuse, everything just to make it seem like we are doing something very bad. Do you even know how dangerous this is?" I said to her as she nodded.

"I know very well. Yes, you would abstain from him in public. But according to everything I know about him, he is the only person who can protect you. I know it. Just trust me this once, please," she pleaded with me as I stayed silent.

There was nothing bad there in trying. It’s not like Jaxon had ever harmed me or done anything that ruined me in total. I just always hated him, and I hated his character due to the fact that he was so nice to everyone. It wasn’t like he ever did anything or bullied someone. He was just too nice, and it always pissed me off how popular he was—a rich, nice, and handsome guy. Everything just made it annoying to me.

I placed my hands gently on my mom’s own and smiled widely at her.

"Okay, I would try my best, but I would not, I repeat, mom, I would not be close to him in public. Hope that is accepted," I said to her as she nodded and then hugged me tightly.

"Thank you so much," she said as I stayed quiet, knowing that I had placed myself in huge trouble. Just then, she ran out, leaving me alone in my room as I lay on the bed aggressively.

"How am I going to do this? How am I going to coexist with Jaxon in that school without causing a huge rumor? I just have to stay away from him. That’s the best thing to do now."
