Chapter 23: Chapter 23

TIM’S POV.

"Arrrhhhh!" I screamed, hitting my hands on the wall before me. I kicked the chair close to me with even more fury, passing the aggression I felt within me to the objects around. After ranting angrily for a while, in the empty classroom I stood, I bent down crying as what i heard a while ago came back to my mind.

My phone rang suddenly, causing me to stop crying as I checked who called me, it was Mary.

"We are at the cafeteria already, where are you Tim?" she asked.

"on my way," I replied, with a low voice.

"You fine Tim?" She asked, "you don’t sound okay."

"Yea I’m good," I replied, hanging up the phone.

"Stay strong Tim," I whispered, comforting myself as I left the room for the cafeteria 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Aria’s POV.

We sat at the cafeteria, quietly eating or meal as we waited for Tim to show up.

"Hi," greeted a timid looking girl as she came close to our table with a tray containing her food, She was dark but beautiful with curly hair, "my name is Mia, may I siit with you guys?" she asked.

"Sure you can Mia," I replied, pointing at the chair opposite mine, "my name is Aria and this is my friend Mary," I said, holding Mary’s hand as she waved at Mia.

"It is nice to meet you guys," Mia replied, taking her seat.

"I haven’t seen you before, you new?" Mary asked as she put a spoon of food in her mouth, pressing her phone.

"Yea, I’m a transfer student, My family and I moved into this area recently, so today is my first day here," Mia replied with a gloomy face.

"You don’t look happy Mia, What is wrong? I asked, observing how sad her face had become.

"I miss my friends in my old neighborhood," she sighed, "It’s my fault we had to leave," Mia replied sadly.

I tapped Mary below the arm, drawing her attention to what Mia was about to say.

"I was always the subject of bullying at my old school. People made fun of me because my dad was the janitor and my mom was a seamstress. Our skin color also made it difficult for us to blend thoroughly with others as whites were given better privileges than blacks in the community. I beat up a white girl that called my mom a monkey some weeks ago, which rested into my expulsion. With that being the straw that broke the camel’s back, my dad decided that we moved to a place where we would be accepted socially, no matter what we looked like, Mia concluded.

"Oh my god!," I exclaimed soberly, "you have really been through alot Mia, and I want you to know that it isn’t your fault that any if these happened," I said, leaving my seat to sit next to her as I comforted her.

"We are here for you Mia, we would be more than happy to be friends with you darling," Mary said as she touched Mia’s cheeks with her gentle hand.

"Thank you guys," she replied, smiling, "I never taught I’ll find great friends so fast, I’m grateful I met the both of you, she said hugging me as she held Mary’s hand in appreciation.

Just then, Tim showed up with a swollen face, like someone who has been crying.

"Hey Tim," I called to him, "are you okay?" I asked, concerned.

"Yea, I’m fine Aria, I have had a bad headache all day," he replied with a long face, sitting beside Mia.

"Are you sure," I asked even more concerned as I sighted his bleeding hands. I ran up to him and held his hands, "you are bleeding in your hand Tim. Did you get involved in a fight?" I asked curiously, looking into his swollen eyes.

"I said I am fine Aria," he replied, raising his voice, causing everyone to look at us, "do I need to get a speaker before you get it?" he asked angrily.

"Oh," I replied, sad and hurt, "I’m sorry to bother you, it’s fine" I spoke, forcing a smile.

The silence that followed was intense as everyone nibbled at their food.

"Okay, listen up guys," Mary spoke, breaking the silence that casted it’s shadow over us, "firstly, let me introduce the newest member of our group, Mia," she spoke out facing Tim. "Mia, you have met me and Aria, this is Tim, the only male with a sense of reasoning in this school, trust me the other are dicks" she added as we all laughed at her statement.

"Hi Tim," Mia spoke, facing Tim with an extended arm, "it’s nice to meet you great god of fury," she added as we all laughed exitedly.

"It feels good to meet you too," Tim added with a smile on his face.

The atmosphere became lively again as we resumed our lunch.

Jaxon’s POV.

"Pass the ball Ivan, pass the ball," shouted the coach. As Ivan ran down the basketball court with the ball. He passed the ball to me, as I swung it from the corner into the net.

"Pweeet!" sounded the whistle.

"Great work today boys, gather around, I’m proud of you all," coach said as we gathered together, forming am arc with him standing before us. "You played well today boys, a great improvement from our last training session. If we keep this momentum going, we are definitely beating the ’milky Lagoons of Bray high’ next week. Ivan, I need you to be quicker with your passes to Jaxon, do you understand?" he asked, directing the question to Ivan.

"Yes sir." Ivan replied, with his thick voice.

"Jaxon, I love your performance today, keep it up okay?" he spoke, patting me on the back.

"Yes coach," I answered, keeping a neutral face.

Dismissed," he ordered as we all went to the changing room.

Jaxon’s POV.

Sitting inside the huge basin of water filled with ice cubes, after the basketball training, I closed my eyes as thoughts of Aria came into mind"

"Yo! Nate," Ivan called, interrupting my thoughts, "party at my place tomorrow night, would you be available?" he asked with a cool smile on his face.

"Yea, would be there for sure bruv," I answered as I came out of the freezing water. I got dressed and bid my team mates goodbye, walking towards my class room.
