Monster Chronicles: My Daoist Skill Comes from Mythology-Chapter 350 - 306: The Five Qi Facing the Origin, Achieving True Fruition
Ghost Mother.
Ghost Mother, having been suppressed by the Queen Mother, rebelled against the Heavenly Court over four hundred years ago.
Afterward, she established the Ghost Country on earth, which over the centuries has amassed an army of one hundred thousand ghost soldiers.
At this time, the Heavenly Great Saint arrived near the Ghost Country.
On the way, he encountered a lost child.
Sun Wukong saw the child alone and went forward to ask:
"Little one, where are your parents?"
Red Boy sobbed, "M-my home is ahead, but I don’t know the way..."
"Amitabha Buddha, Wukong, carry him on your back."
Tang Seng spoke at this moment.
Tang Seng appeared rather stout, a traditionally rotund monk, not as refined as one might imagine.
"Alright."
Sun Wukong carried Red Boy on his back, and the group continued their journey.
After walking no more than two miles, Sun Wukong felt something off.
The child on his back grew heavier and heavier, as though he was carrying a mountain.
Sun Wukong thought for a moment and immediately realized the child was no ordinary mortal.
He decided to play along, maintaining a calm demeanor.
Red Boy sensed something was wrong—why hadn’t this guy reacted?
Could it be that his magic had failed?
While he was thinking that, the weight of another mountain pressed down.
Sun Wukong’s face remained unchanged as ever.
One mountain, two mountains, three mountains...
Red Boy was too focused on exerting effort and lost himself in his game of endurance.
Unbeknownst to him, Sun Wukong suddenly soared into the air.
By the time Red Boy realized it, they had already arrived at the Western Pure Land!
In the golden realm stood a grandiose lotus platform.
A majestic dharma image sat cross-legged on the platform.
A presence of majestic treasure, with arms drooping past the knees.
Eyes shining like radiant torches, his body emitting dazzling light.
He embodied the thirty-two perfect traits taught in Buddhism: a wide and long tongue, a voice like that of King Brahma, eyes like those of a royal bull, a crown protuberance atop his head, and a white hair tuft between his brows, among others.
"Tathagata!"
Sun Wukong shouted.
He craned his body forward and flung Red Boy into the air.
Tathagata smiled helplessly, cursing, "Damned Monkey, always causing trouble for this old monk!"
Then, he tossed out his golden bowl, trapping Red Boy within.
Sun Wukong smiled faintly, saying nothing.
Though he had fallen out with Golden Cauldron True Man, it didn’t mean he genuinely submitted to the Buddhist Sect or the Heavenly Court.
He worked half-heartedly and would hand off tricky problems to them.
After all, Tang Seng had ten great protectors. Admittedly, nine of those protectors didn’t lift a finger, leaving only Weituo Venerable to truly devote himself; thus, most of the trouble was solved by Weituo, allowing Sun Wukong to idle about.
The golden bowl clamped down on Red Boy, who screamed and raged inside to no avail, while Tathagata ignored him.
At that moment, a dark cloud flew toward Spirit Mountain.
Upon closer inspection, the cloud revealed itself to be Ghost Mother and her army of one hundred thousand ghost soldiers.
The Buddhas of Spirit Mountain transformed into hundred-foot dharma bodies and began battling the ghost soldiers.
The ghost soldiers carried with them monks from the mortal world, numbering five or six thousand, among whom were Tang Seng and his companions.
"Mother, save me!"
Hearing her child’s voice echoing from within the golden bowl, Ghost Mother glared at Tathagata and roared:
"Release my child and I’ll spare the monks inside the monastery!"
Ghost Mother, being cunning, knew she couldn’t defeat Buddha, so she resorted to threatening the monastery’s inhabitants below.
Buddha paid no heed to Ghost Mother’s threats and looked to his left and right.
"Who will step forward to capture this wicked woman?"
Then, an elderly venerable shuffled out and glared at Ghost Mother.
"Wicked woman, do you know who I am?"
Ghost Mother was enraged, shocked that a holy man could speak so crudely, and lunged forward to engage the Buddhas in a duel of spells.
Unfortunately, her forces were outnumbered and she was eventually captured alive.
Tang Seng and his companions were rescued.
Tang Seng approached Ghost Mother, cursed her as a wicked woman, and left with his disciples.
After passing through Daughter Country, a tumultuous escapade ensued. If not for Weituo Heavenly Venerate waking them in time, they might have stayed there forever. Their final battle was at Flame Mountain against Princess Iron Fan.
In front of Flame Mountain lay Tiecuo Mountain.
Princess Iron Fan, a mature beauty dressed in richly embroidered clouds robes, sat in her cave mansion. Gazing at the distant Flame Mountain, her delicate brows furrowed, seemingly deep in thought.
She recalled an earlier encounter with a peculiar man.
According to that man’s predictions, the great catastrophe was due around this time.
"A catastrophe? What is there to fear about a catastrophe?"
Princess Iron Fan scoffed.
Who was she? A peer of Lishan Mother, a goddess of the Wind Department, and a relative of the Twenty-Eight Constellations. What kind of catastrophe could possibly trouble her?
"Report!"
Suddenly, the earth deity of Tiecuo Mountain emerged.
"A monkey has ascended the mountain!"
No sooner had the words been spoken than a dark cloud appeared. From within descended a short-bodied monkey.
Sun Wukong caught sight of the beautiful woman and was immediately struck. The suppressed fire from Daughter Country flared overwhelmingly.
"A disciple not shallow, and a spouse not profound. Let us each present a treasure and pair as demons. I, the Little Walker, come only to borrow your magical treasure to cross Flame Mountain."
Sun Wukong had yet to realize the woman before him had ties to Lishan Mother.
But given his fearless nature, why would he care even if he knew?
Princess Iron Fan’s elegant brows rose fiercely as she cursed, "You insolent monkey! I will not lend it to you! Leave quickly, you unruly head, lest my steel blade slice it clean!"
Sun Wukong leapt and shrieked piercingly.
"You vile woman, how dare you behave so rudely. I am the Purple Cloud Cave Master and Heavenly Great Saint. I stole Laozi’s Golden Core and forged copper tendons and iron bones, Eyes of Golden Flame, and a pure mind free of corruption. Do you think I fear your steel blade slicing anything?"
Boom!
The two clashed fiercely.
Sun Wukong’s golden body was impervious to weapons, and Princess Iron Fan appeared to be striking an indestructible bronze ball—hard and slippery.
The monkey’s Gold Rod was no ordinary item either. With the weight of thousands of pounds, combined with his golden body’s power, the strikes left Princess Iron Fan hesitant to face him head-on.
"Vile woman, such cruel spells!"
Sun Wukong secretly marveled.
The wind from her fan carried penetrating Yin energy, infiltrating every orifice.
Though his Nine-Transformation Golden Body was formidable, this wind entered through his nose, mouth, and other openings, threatening destruction to his internal organs.
While any broken organs could regenerate, the pain was undeniably real.
Sun Wukong grew increasingly enraged.
The two fought ferociously for three hundred rounds.
Finally, he spotted an opening.
"Vile woman, perish!"
Bang!!
A strike landed on Princess Iron Fan’s back.
She spat blood and flew backward. Before fleeing, she unleashed one final fan strike with all her remaining strength.
Swoosh!
Sun Wukong was blown away by the violent wind.
"Damn it..." Princess Iron Fan regretted deeply. She should have trusted that man’s words.
She wouldn’t have ended up in this predicament.
Her figure collapsed to the ground. Before losing consciousness, she seemed to glimpse a Three-eyed Man approaching.
When she woke, Princess Iron Fan discovered herself on a Floating Island.
There were a dozen or so identical Floating Islands nearby.
At the center stood three grand halls.
Surrounded by many figures.
"Who are you?" Princess Iron Fan asked cautiously.
The Three-eyed Monster grinned and replied, "I am Emperor of Sichuan, sent by the Pure Yang Sect Leader to aid you!"
"Ah, yes, the Pure Yang Sect Leader goes by the name Master Yuding."
"So it’s him; he foresaw all this?"
Princess Iron Fan exclaimed in shock.
Little did she imagine that this monster was the renowned Pure Yang Sect Leader of centuries past, the one who made the Jade Emperor so frustrated.
"The Sect Leader possesses vast Divine Skills, foreseeing five hundred years forward and five hundred years back."
"Why save me for this? The Heavenly Court and Buddhist Sect are powerful; with even the Heavenly Great Saint subdued, once the Daoist orthodoxy is wiped out, what good can come to you all?"
Princess Iron Fan poured cold water on him.
From that encounter, she had deduced who the monkey was.
"Ha, why do you all keep believing a Stone Monkey can save the world? Acting recklessly, unbound by right or wrong, doing everything sentimentally?"
Zhengyang mocked, "Just because he’s born of auspicious stone, he’s deemed the savior? Let me tell you, aside from the Pure Yang Sect Leader, no one else is fit to save this world!"
This wasn’t to disparage the monkey.
The monkey’s actions throughout this journey could be described as blind to justice.
When a demon, he fought immortals; when an immortal, he fought demons.
Most of the slain so-called demons along the way were brothers who had once fought together during the Big Mess in Heaven.
Golden Cauldron True Man had long given up hope for the Heavenly Great Saint.
Half of the Three Pure Daoist orthodoxy aligned with the Heavenly Court, thirty percent remained independent, while the other twenty percent aligned themselves with Song Lin.
What a small adventure, yet it had led the Three Pure Daoist orthodoxy to the brink of collapse.
The folly lay in pinning their hopes on a stone being incapable of connecting emotionally with living beings.
"Alright, I await the day you confront the Buddhist Sect and Heavenly Court."
Princess Iron Fan sneered.
The Journey to the West drew closer to Spirit Mountain.
The Jade Emperor was jubilant, as the Three Pure Daoist orthodoxy had evidently declined.
He leveraged the Buddhist Sect’s East Crossing to suppress the Pure Yang Sect, trading for World Venerable’s intervention against Song Lin and Lishan Mother.
The Jade Emperor deemed it a brilliant move.
What of the Buddhist Sect?
As long as he remained Lord of Three Realms, it mattered not whose orthodoxy it was.
Now, the Jade Emperor had one desire: to eradicate all Pure Yang disciples.
Kill!
The tension escalated, and the Pure Yang Sect members began to sense unease.
The Sect Leader had not left seclusion—could he have encountered difficulties?
Boom!
Just then, the seal of the World in the Pot broke open, and Song Lin emerged at ease.
He was draped in seven-colored radiance, with skin like gold and jade, surrounded by clouds of prosperity and exuding divine energy.
"Five Qi Chaoyuan Immortal Realm? Did the Patriarch accomplish Five Qi Chaoyuan?"
The Four Great Celestial Masters and Zhengyang were utterly astonished.
Five Qi Chaoyuan Immortal Realm had always been a mere concept, yet the Patriarch had truly achieved it.
...
At Spirit Mountain.
The group journeyed onward, meeting the Buddhas and finally encountering Tathagata, successfully acquiring the True Scriptures.
The Heavenly Great Saint was overjoyed, thinking he would soon be free, hoping Tathagata would remove the Tightening Spell.
At this moment, Tathagata declared:
"Sun, Pig, Sha, Dragon disciples—being non-human, you may not return to the Eastern Land. First achieve true enlightenment. At my seat are four disciples: one named Cheng Ji, one named Huiguang, one named Enfang, one named Jingce. Ji, Guang, Fang, and Ce will escort you to the Eastern Land."
